But ultimately, don’t you want 3.0 organization to be the same as 2.x? If not, please state use case.
Not sure. I haven’t taken any time to visualize and think through things yet. So my questions at this point may be under-baked.
When the baking is fully done and you install 3.0, I will think of installing 3.0. Is there a 3.1 beta?
There is always something ‘better’ on the back burner.
You’re going to have to test drive 3.0 to understand. The biggest perceived issue is that new 3.0 users don’t understand the philosophy of use under the new UI. Your “Home” now has Favorites, Devices, Automations. Favorites becomes your new “daily driver”. When you 1st start the app, it loads 5 (I think) of your devices. Just get rid of them and start from scratch by un-favoriting those defaults under Devices. Devices is a list of everything Wyze. Think of Devices not as your daily driver, but the Wyze device maintenance area. The list is already sorted the same as 2.x with the addition of every single device (including all devices located in groups) tacked on the end of the same list of what you have under 2.x. You can reorder stuff in both Favorites and Devices, although I don’t know why anyone would reorder the list in Devices when it’s the same as you previously sorted under 2.x. Create your preferred daily driver (Favorites) by tapping the star icon for stuff under Devices. Then long-press/drag your items in Favorites to order to your liking. Automations is the same as 2.x’s Rules. The order of 3.0 Automation items is maintained from 2.x. Unfortunately, there is no way to reorder the 3.0 Automation list. If you need to reorder Rules/Shortcuts, do it under 2.x and it will carry over to 3.0. Schedules and Triggers reordering is the same as 2.x… not there. Wyze really needs to take the time to implement complete Automation reordering.
Hold on and I’ll post some screenshots…
2.x Home (daily driver):
3.0 Favorites (daily driver). I created and organized my Favorites to only display stuff I constantly mess with daily:
3.0 Devices. You can use this as your daily driver is you so desire, but for some like me, there are over 200 devices in the list. The order is the same as 2.x Home sans Shortcuts. Starred items appear under Favorites:
2.x Rules:
3.0 Automations. It’s the same as 2.x including sort order. But you can star items to show in your Favorites tab. The house/clock icon upper-right is Rules History:
suckpuck and quiescent, you rock
Thank you so much, sir, you have advanced me toward a goal I now have some enthusiasm at achieving!
Seriously, again, you rock.
I’m surprised you didn’t notice the quiescent/on dichotomy.
Look, I started limp, and advanced to semi-tumescent, let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Isn’t that exactly the same way the ver2.5 app already works anyway? So…I don’t know how this could be a complaint when it already works that way with the previous version. This is more of a wish request than something wrong with the new update that still works the same way the old app did where the dashboard matches everywhere.
Honestly, this is how it works with almost every company that I know of. Some programs will allow you to make a 2nd or 3rd dashboard to use on different devices, but pretty much every program has the same dashboard in the same layout across devices.
Don’t get me wrong, I do think it would be great to be able to create separate dashboards on a local level for different kinds of devices (phone vs tablet for example), but I can’t complain that it’s consistent across devices when this is how the v2.5 worked, and how almost every company works.
Nor can I be responsible for others and their inappropriate [variable].
v1=outbursts
Hogwash. There is a legal concept known as vicarious liability where you can be held responsible for the actions of someone else due to your relationship. Examples:
- Employee-Employer Relationship
- Parent-Child Relationship
- Vehicle Owner-Driver Relationship
- Principal-Agent Relationship
- Medical Care
- Partnerships
- Corporation-Directors & Officers
- Landlord-Tennant Relationship
- Teacher-Student Relationship (limited situations)
- Animal Owners
- Franchisor-Franchisee Relationship
- A bunch more
Now that we have established there is such a thing as vicarious liability, I hereby hold you responsible for others and their inappropriate outbursts. The rationales will be detailed in my coming subpoena unless we come to a settlement first.
You have outdone yourself, counsel, and for you that’s saying something! I had a response but I believe I will defer it pending cessation of bodily mirth.
Yep
You want my honest opinion, it is half backed as I’ve said on another post.
I’ve been test driving the app since it was available as a beta 1, and I wasn’t impressed then and I am not impressed now.
For starters it feels like a bloatware, I know I am going to get scalded by @Earl.Automation that my definition of bloatware doesn’t hold water. I don’t care, but back in the nineties any software that was just adding code and window dressing was considered a bloatware. Again I don’t care what Google and ChatGPT says, I stand by my definition. The best example of bloatware is a pre Unix Apple’s Classic Mac OS.
The new Wyze app is nothing more than that. You took the old app and window dressed it, added some tricks to it but it doesn’t work. Just watch the backlash buddy!
For starters did you guys run out of black paint? Why half of the windows are in a dark mode and the other half is in light/day/white whatever you want to call it?
Quite a bit of us are using the app on a tablet 90% percent of the time. In the beta version it was reported that the V4 autofocus doesn’t work as it should. In a single live stream mode, it auto zooms without an option to zoom out. Double tapp just zooms up further. Did you guys tested this before releasing it top the public?
How about full landscape interface on both tablet and phone? Have you guys heard of Figma, Sketch and Adobe DX? There are tools to streamline design and development for best UI/UX experience out there. Think outside the box guys!
There are so many issues with the app that there are not enough hours in the day for me to start listing them.
You can do better!
I’ll add my obligatory plug (likely to remain forever unheeded) for some semblance of humansensical order (or sorting ability) to the Other Applications list in the Notification section of the Watch module. (I write this having currently zero experience with the new app but making an educated guess based on my history with Wyze products and @Seapup’s observations.)
Polls? Pshaw.
Too focused.
They like ‘the mess’ like me.
The problem is that people are more motivated to come post about the app change when they don’t like it, so a poll would not be accurate sentiment, but the feedback is still helpful/valid.
Wyze takes that into account via poll/survey data weighting when processing the raw data. Or at least Gwendolyn did with survey analyses.
I think this is fair criticism!

I have seen a design in Figma for landscape mode on tablets that I hope will be coming soon.
-
Yeah the Dark Mode light and dark areas also annoys me haha, I know that is being worked on as well.
-
I didn’t know about the v4 autofocus issue, let me check on whether that is going to be fixed and get back to you.
I appreciate the feedback
