Changed the plug this morning, will be moving the router closer tonight, it still errored out with the correct Wyze plug.
If youāre trying to troubleshoot connectivity to your driveway cam while at home, you should enable WiFi on your iPhone so you have a direct connection from cam-to-phone.
Right, WiFi was connected when I was home.
I took the screenshot and posted here while at work and it was still not connected.
It;s a power issue. Changed to larger wall adapters (3 amps or greater) and have had no problems. Wish Wyze would publicize this on the web site.
Thank you, Dave!! This solved the problem!
Were you using the 2amp wyze adapter or another one that was lower? If the 2amp wonāt run the cam anymore, the wall wart may be dying (which youāve now resolved) or maybe something going on with the camera where it is drawing too much power. My guess would be the first one (unless you were running off lower power adapters, which would be the explanation).
Dave-
All the wall warts were from Wyze and they claimed 2A output at 5V. I suspect they were not capable of handling this much current. I had some spare wall warts designed for other devices and I used those. You can get wall warts with USB A connectors that claim up to 3A. There are larger ones but they are designed for USB-C.
Thanks again for pointing this out. I would not have suspected it.

Will try this method tomorrowā¦. This is just not acceptable!!!
Iām using the 2 amp included ones with my Pan v3s and no issues. Iām guessing the wall wart just started to die on you, it isnāt like theyāre made to military specs . But maybe the cam is for some reason drawing more power (which could be indicative of some other issue but time will tell).
Iāve had other brands of USB adapters die on me when exposed to heat or humidity (used in the garage etc), and sometimes they just die for no reason too, so that would be my vote, it just started to crap out.
I believe the USB-A port on chargers is always limited to 2.4A, I canāt recall ever seeing one higher than that. The 3A may be for the USB-C port. But either way, should be plenty. It should only draw 2A if it is moving, has a weak wifi signal, uploading, etc, basically doing everything all at once, and even then probably 1.5A or less would cover it.
If that solves your issue as well you could request a replacement adapter from Wyze if still under warranty, but 2000mA and up USB-A adapters are cheap. It seems unlikely the camera is drawing over 2 amps, if it is then something internally is messed up.
Amazon Basics makes a good one that is 2.4 amp or something like that, used it for my momās video bird feeder, inside of a watertight box that gets direct sun in the morning, and its been going strong for months (previous generic adapter I had in a drawer died very quickly in the same situation).
A two pack of them was like $5 on sale (currently $10 but they drop from time to time - Amazon.com: Amazon Basics 12W One Port USB-A Wall Charger (2.4A) for Phones (iPhone 15/14/13/12/11/X, Samsung, and more), Pack of 2, White : Cell Phones & Accessories). Anker makes good ones too, and Iām sure thereās plenty of other cheap ones. I like to keep a few spare good quality USB-A and -C chargers around.
If you continue to have issues Iād suspect a camera problem, possibly water infiltration. I had one mounted upside down that water got in and it started restarting itself and not being able to connect etc. Mounted the new one right side up, not as ideal but didnāt want to have a recurring issue.
Hello
Anyone know or surmise if the touted new Wyze app 3.0 to launch tomorrow will fix all these problems with the Cam Pan V3?
I had installed a 3rd Cam Pan v3 as a warranty replacement Wyze sent me. 1st one failed out of box. 2nd one became so erratic that Wyze replaced it with the 3rd one. All within one year of the warranty period.
3rd one shows the same problems of disconnecting randomly. Worked reasonably well for a week and then started to show the same problems. Iām afraid to pan the cam V3 esp in the CCW direction. It loses wifi and goes off line doing this, in addition to panning all the way CCW to limit even if I wanna pan a bit, it goes all the way.

Sad to hear. Posts like these delay my purchase of a Wyze v3 Pan Cam.
My personal position nowāavoid esp the Cam Pan V3. It is an unreliable product, given my experience. The limited functionality & very basic, free Alfred app that converts any phone to a security camera that I setup using an old working Google Pixel 6 is more reliable in keeping its wifi connection better than the Wyze Cam Pan V3. And it is farther than the V3 from the router.
This experience has discouraged me from getting any more Wyze stuff.
I just want to go on the record as having the same problem of V3 pan cameras disconnecting. My three V2ās work flawlessly. One thing I want say is both V3 cameras disconnect at the same time together mostly at night but sometime during the day.
I have manually shut down the wifi just to see if the V3ās reconnect and they do so I donāt think it has anything to do with the Wifi dropping out or glitching so to speak. Iād bet a donut that it is a programming issue.
App wonāt fix that. Is yours mounted upside down? If so, I had similar issues after a driving rainstorm. Mounted the replacement right side up and it has been fine.
My other one that has always been right side up for a year now has been flawless, other than the known issue with minor creep of the home position, but has not been an issue for me, rebooting once a week keeps it close enough.
For me at least theyāve been reliable. One that I have is from a year ago, the other as I mentioned was replaced due to water getting in when being upside down. That one is about 6 months old now. Both are working great.
The one I have on my garage which really has no business having a decent wifi signal (my router reports it as -70 to -73dbm) has disconnected a few times for a few minutes but reconnects. Only seems to happen when it is really hot out, which obviously will have some impact on wifi radios. Other than that, I can watch videos and pan the camera with only minimal hiccups and glitches (again, no fault of the cam, my phone barely works on wifi where the cam is, and my phoneās wifi is very good).
Curious if those instances of disconnects were on very hot days? The only time Iāve noticed it happen was when it was like 95+ here and in the sun. And thatās only the one that is very far from my router and gets poor signal. My other one that gets even more sun and the same temperatures never disconnects (it is much closer with stronger signal).
You also have to keep in mind many things can affect wifi, especially 2.4ghz. Neighbor firing up a microwave, baby monitor, etc. Even just evening when everyone is home and using internet can have an impact, Iāve noticed playback from my more distant/lower signal Wyze cams is more choppy in the evening hours, and thatās really the only explanation for it.
Some routers (especially ones that are part of a mesh system) also have a feature that boots clients off when their signal falls below a threshold.
There was an announcement today that Wyze just put up a beta version of V3 firmware that fixes the failure to reconnect to WiFi. This sounds like to problem we are concerned about. Not sure I want to mess around with beta software just now but it is a hopeful sign.
80 degree dry day. I just reset both cameras at 5pm and at 5;30pm they had disconnected again and both of them at the same time. I usually get about 10 to 12 hours out of them.
Sounds good to me. At this point Iāve got nothing to loose.
