I just wanted to toss my two cents into this issue. I have mine in my front window and it goes offline… A LOT. I tried the Automation rule of daily restarts. Mine was at 12pm everyday, but will still show offline by 1pm
I stuck a Wyze smart plug on its power adapter because of the frequent need to power cycle it. thankfully the plug doesn’t lose connection.
also the pan v3 is literal feet from a wifi extender. see photo, the thing at the bottom is the extender.
completely random when it shows offline. i’m glad that even though it shows offline, it is still recording on to the memory stick.
firmware is current, and wifi bars show 3
Very annoying… I’m hoping for a fix soon, but seeing how long ago the OP is… I don’t think I’ll hold my breath
Not all extenders are the same. I have posted about my pan V3s before. They were intermittent. So I got extenders. They worked to a point. They connected but sometimes took a really long time to connect. And when panned, they froze.
I got another set of extenders. Now they are fully functional.
I just tried swapping out the AC Adapter on it. I had an older one on it (not the one that came with the pan v3.) IMHO a design flaw on these power adapters that they all look identical but provide different wattage/voltage. So far the only adapter that is slightly different is the OG cam power adapter (longer and a little narrower.)
Anyway, that still didn’t fix the issue. still goes offline at least once/twice a day.
Before my wifi extender was installed, the window location has a straight shot to my router in the bedroom maybe 35 feet away. direct line of sight too. still disconnected then, too.
I’m sort of wondering if I should RMA it…
That’s well beyond what a pan V3 can tolerate. And it seems your extender isn’t enough, either. My extenders work. My pan V3s are about 25 feet away from the router.
We are testing a new firmware build internally currently, so we could hit external beta soon if it proves to be the fix.
I have to het my ladder out a couple times a week to reset it. I’m getting tired of it, I hate heights too…
Use a smart switch, preferably a non-wyze branded one.
Just make sure that the adapter is at least 2 Amps. Pan V3 requires 2Amps to operate.
already done it all.
I really hope so, have worthless camera and Wyze won’t return or exchange bc out of warranty.
Have a paper weigjt in my house and not supporting or anything good about Wyze until this Wyze cam pan v3 is fixed.
I’ve been doing computer tech, businesses, networking, building websites…blah blah blah. for45+ years. Gadgets for everything 30+. Basic,FORTRAN and a little COBOL. Cell stuff since bag phone, and a hacker/phone phreak since I was 12 LOL.
I won’t stop until I find an answer LOL. I’m pushing 60 and I still LOVE IT ALL!!! Now I’m into AI…
CHEERS ALL,
Don
They auto-disconnect after a few hours. I can restart them by deleting an reinstalling them but this does not work if I am away. This is very frustrating. Perhaps there are too many devices competing for sense hub attention? Please fix this. The system is useless as it is.
Same here, it didn’t used to happen, I contacted Wyze and they said your camera is out of warranty, too bad.
This continues to happen is not too far from a router. Every other Wyze Camera (5) works besides cam pan v3 doesn’t , My q and 5 nest cams all have no issues.
Quantify “not too far from a router”. Not all Wyze cameras are the same. As I have posted before, the pan cams have the weakest WiFi reception among the Wyze cameras.
Half a cars length from the router in the garage….Ome Wyze camera in garage, one nest camera in garage and one Vivint camera outside the garage with the broken cam pan v3 on opposite side of garage, on other side of garage door. Other three cameras work perfectly.
Literally all 3 cameras are same distance and only the Wyze cam pan 3 has the dc issue.
OK, what would it take to actually put the pan cam about a couple of feet from the router and testing, for about the length of time that it usually disconnects from its current site? Too much work on your part?
Nope, will try it tonight, after work.
Can confirm it’s the plug. I had all the symptoms on my Wyze pan 3… I needed the Wyze plug . Not sure if it’s brand specific or just the voltage . Thank you!
You need any standard USB adapter with at least 2A (2000MA) output. Pan will not work off a 1A adapter that is included with their other cameras. I’ve run a pan v3 off a samsung 2Amp USB charger and it worked fine (obviously couldn’t mount it since I didn’t have the “L” adapter, but I just set it on a shelf that had a hole in it so the cable could stick down through).
