Multi-Cam Timeline: How do YOU use it?

Well, that works out well because I wasn’t really offering it.

Pull down on the Multi-Cam view to refresh the Timeline with the latest Events.

Testing!

Also…???

“When it is easier to find a specific time on the SD card playback than it is to go to a morning time using the paid Cam Plus cloud events, then something new should be considered.”

 Also my conclusion after being a first-time Cam Plus (Unlimited) subscriber for a few months.

For my purposes, the Day Show and Multi-Cam Timeline are useful. What’s lacking is linking from an Event your are viewing to the fullscreen/zoomable version in-place in the Events List.

Presently…

You CAN link from a viewed Timeline Event to that cam’s Live View.

In recent cam versions, you will see Recent Events below that Live View, and at the bottom of the short list is a link that will land you at the Event List pre-filtered for that cam.

In older cam versions this is not available. I use only Cam v3s. :face_holding_back_tears:

Option to link (as above) to corresponding SD card Event would also be great (though less likely to be implemented, I’ll wager.)

And this would improve the Events List (of cloud recordings) substantially:

Events List
Selecting by Person
When clip of interest located
Deselect Person filter (without exiting video back to list)
So that swiping forward/back
Reveals context: videos from SAME CAM directly surrounding it in time
that are NOT tagged Person

"Deselect"again (without exiting video back to list)
So that swiping forward/back
Reveals context: videos from ALL CAMS directly surrounding it in time

How do you manage that? Maybe it’s a subscriber feature or particular to your Cam v3s? (I have none.) I just tried tapping various parts of that screen (motion events, view pane) for a Cam v4 while looking at the My Day “TIMELINE” for that camera without apparent effect.

Yah, from here you CAN:

From here, here and here you CAN’T:

Oh, right on. Yeah, I see that tapping a camera’s upper-left-corner icon goes to that camera’s main Live Stream screen. I thought you were getting there directly from the My Day “TIMELINE”. I misunderstood. Thanks for the clarification! :+1:

Also CAN from the full screen landscape GROUP accessed thus:

By the time they get all this trick integration (drill-down, baby!) going without bogging down the app intolerably (for persons with poor persons phones, at least) the world will have ended.

Too bad. Guess we’ll have to make do with our other first world perks.

I have done that before.

I’d be satisfied just to have a sensible and consistent back button experience.

Judging from what one of their principals said four of five years ago, the alternative to the archaic manual UI ‘drilling-down’ would be command by voice, interpreted and results returned by AI.

So, let’s say that’s their five year plan, but the present and immediate future still demand ‘primitive’ interfaces and organization.

Their challenge is to blend the transition as seamlessly as possible for the customer, while wasting as few resources as they can on things that will soon be outmoded.

I see what you mean and completely agree. :+1:

For my part, in the present and immediate future with v3s, since the space below the Live View is a big fat blank (no Recent Events list like in the newer cam models) they could drop an ‘All Events’ link, at least.

Lands you at the main Event List pre-filtered for the cam you are viewing.

I don’t have any cameras with that UI, but I’ve noticed that space when I’ve seen screenshots, and it does look like a canvas that could provide additional information or controls without getting too busy. I like your suggestion.

I really like the convenience of talking to voice assistants (Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa) when I want to be hands free and get or give some information (ask about the weather, set a reminder on my calendar) without derailing whatever else I’m doing at the time, but talking to an assistant on my phone isn’t something I’m likely to do much at all. I understand that some people do that; it’s just not something I expect to be doing.

I’m also one of the people who does not want Wyze Cam live streams or event videos automatically playing audio all the time. At best, the user should be able to set a persistent preference, but I prefer they remain muted unless I enable the sound.

Having said all of that, if Wyze could allow a third-party voice assistant to interact with Wyze’s AI (I think both sides would have to build tools for this to even be possible) and I could do something like ask a Google Home Mini if the USPS truck has driven by the house today—if I could use a voice assistant that’s already part of my routine and have it query and get meaningful information about data that my cameras are capturing or have captured recently—then that’s something I would like to use, and that would be truly killer.

Thanks.

By flipping a toggle in settings for the v1 Floodlight (which included cam is a v3) you get this:

I’m conflicted. I still hope to shed these nosy systems entirely before I’m required to talk to it to effect ‘magic.’

…unlike, say, these guys:

…who have no such ambitions

I guess we’re straying away from your original topic, but you’re leading, so I’ll just follow.

Is this thing you’re showing about Cam Floodlight v1 something that enables or disables visibility of the Siren button on the Live Stream screen? This seems like they’ve already solved a problem that other users are complaining about elsewhere (accidental siren activation), so if it’s just a visibility toggle in Settings, then it seems like they could extend that feature to other Cam models, eh? :man_shrugging:

Eh, indeed. :man_shrugging:
