Can you clarify which camera - the battery cam pro?
If no SD cards work in it, it may just be defective, and probably makes sense to exchange it. Did you format the cards before trying them - my preference is to use the formatter from sdcard.org as it will remove any special formatting that some other devices can put on cards.
Welcome to the Forum, @alan69700! ![]()
What did Support say when you contacted them? If your Battery Cam Pro isn’t recognizing cards after following their troubleshooting recommendations, then they might offer to replace it since it’s a new purchase for you.
Howdy. I’m finally back. But (honestly) it’s because of the insidious “Microsd card not found” problem. From my HOURS of research out on the interweb, this has been a problem for YEARS. Has anyone figured out how to get a V3 cam on CamPlus LITE to playback on the microsd from the events tab? PLEASE? PLEASE? fwiw, I am grandfathered in from 2018 and all my other 11 cams are checked off in the CamPlus LITE section. I do have this latest V3 cam checked there, too, but it’s giving me the “Microsd card not found.”
I was on the phone with a wyze rep yesterday for about an hour. He apparently never heard of being grandfathered in with CamPlus LITE
All he could offer was an e-mail so I could send in screenshots of everything that’s going on. I did so. Now I get another e-mail telling me i gotta jump through a whole new set of hoops before they will look at it ![]()
Thanks for any help!
I have v3 cameras on Cam Plus Lite too. I get the error “Microsd card not found” when trying to view the SD card from the Events screen using App version 2.50.
I can view the problem v3 SD card from the Events screen using App version 3.10.6.753.
What App version are you using?
I don’t know if viewing from Events while using a Cam Plus Lite subscription is part of the issue or not, but Wyze has been soliciting user data in this topic for a while now:
You might want to take a look at that if you haven’t already read it. I think @StevenA’s app version question is a good one, too. ![]()
My situation is that when wyze changed the app’s configuration/navigation so much after v2.50.9 (512) it became useless to me and I had to revert back to v2.50.9 (512) to be able to get any usefulness out of it.
I have 11 cameras and I check every event all day long (long story), so when wyze added an additional step in viewing and deleting events with the newer version app, it just became too time-consuming and cumbersome, and I also did not appreciate having to learn an entire re-format of the app’s “look” and navigation. I mean you get used to something and get quick at it and then all of a sudden you’re bogged down while trying to run your two businesses. So here I am with v2.50.9 (512) and even though there are still some problems in addition to the microsd not found on the three new V3’s, it’s still much more manageable for me. So if wyze told me my microsd cards would work perfectly if I “upgraded” to the latest version I would still be just as un-happy. Out of the frying pan and into the fire. The worst part about all of this is I was fine with my V2’s when I first got onboard with wyze back in 2018, but it’s just been down the drain since. And I’m not the only one who feels this way because I’ve seen the same sentiment hundreds of times while trying to fix this out on the web for literally the last 3 days (9 hours so far). At some point ya gotta start thinkin about making a change. The only thing that’s making me hang on is the CamPlus LITE being free, versus other camera companies requiring paid subscriptions. And I could live with some of these other problems because they’re minor, but having to leave events and click back over to live playback in order to find/see what the event was before & after with three cameras while my other 11 work fine is not acceptable. (That’s what the wyze rep told me to do). And the last time I talked to a wyze agent they told me that the V3’s I bought from Home Depot were likely counterfeit and for me to return them and buy replacements directly from wyze.
As soon as I can get this situation wrapped up I’ll go there and give my info. Thanks for that!
Bear in mind if you want to continue using the 2.5 app you’ll need to disable firmware updates and probably downgrade if you’re running the latest one.
Though I’m not sure what extra step in viewing events you’re referring to. I use micro SD card and just use the forward and back buttons to jump between events. Does that not work with cloud clips?
My previous 11 cameras have the same firmware as the 3 new cameras so I don’t think it’s the firmware. The last rep i talked to said it’s probably going to be defective cameras. Sealed 2-pack white V3’s, and a sealed black V3 - WILD!! And I also went and bought brand new 32g microsd cards. I’ve also tried EVERY thing I could find out on the web and in the forums - no luck.
It’s been a couple years or so since that version/navigation change so i can’t remember exactly what part it was in the events, and I’m definitely not “upgrading” my app to find out, lol.
Just wondering… which firmware version came loaded on your new Cam v3 s?
Keep in mind Wyze requires app version 3.8.5 or above to use Cam v3 firmware AFTER 4.36.14.3497.
I am still on 4.36.14.3497 and have one device on App 3.10. I have been using App version 2.50 for so long is why I prefer the user interface.
When stable new v3 firmware is released I plan on moving all of my devices to App version 3.xx at that time.
I don’t know. How do you find that out? I didn’t even think to check it. I didn’t know it would become important.
Wyze app Home > your Cam v3 > wait for live stream > Settings (gear icon upper right) > Device Info > Firmware Version
That shows the current version: 4.36.14.3497
All my cameras are updated to the latest firmware version.
But you asked for the firmware version that the cameras came with.
Your choice of 32-bit Wyze app is not compatible with latest firmware updates that reportedly address your issues. Wyze cannot update and publish 32-bit app versions due to Google and Apple restrictions. I’d suggest updating to the latest 64-bit app which will also allow you to update your v3 cams’ firmware to the latest version. If you choose not to take that path, you’ll need to downgrade (flash) your cams to older firmware. 32-bit app support ended 2 years ago.
This doesn’t make sense because my other 11 V3 cameras all have the same firmware version as these 3 new V3 cameras and those 11 all work fine without the microsd not found problem, whereas the 3 new V3 cameras, with the same firmware versions, have the microsd problem, and all the cameras are under this same app version and are all checked off on the free CamPlus LITE screen. I don’t get it. And neither does wyze. At this point the latest e-mail says they can’t fix it and all they can do is offer me a gift-card.
Perhaps the older cameras formatted the older cards differently, or some setting/bug only exists if the card was inserted/formatted after a certain firmware edition.
Given the oddities and inconsistencies of this bug, not sure any of us can figure out what the issue or explanation is. But you have to realize that the 2.5 app is gradually losing functionality and is going to give you more and more problems.
I realize that’s speculation, and I think it’s an interesting idea. One of my observations with this problem on Cam Pan v3 (apologies to @alan69700 for the diversion from battery-cam-pro) has always been that the Cam where I’ve had consistent issues with microSD card recognition, recording, and playback is the device with the more recent Activation Date. After reading your comment, I do wonder if Cam Pan v3 firmware released after a certain date writes something weird to an inserted microSD card that becomes problematic. The microSD card in my older Cam Pan v3 has been there since I set it up, and I’ve never had a compelling reason to reformat it. Now your comment makes me wonder if trying an in-Cam reformat (or doing something like ejecting and re-inserting the card) would hose that one, but I’m not curious enough to risk it. ![]()
Not all Cam v3s are the same. Same goes for a lot of cam models and not just Wyze cams. The older the model of any electronics still being sold, the more likely some board level component required a change due to unavailability of original component.
You could update your app and the firmware on one problem cam and retest the one cam. If it doesn’t prove fruitful, delete app, reinstall 2.50.9.512 and flash your problem cam back. Keep in mind that if you try that test with the latest app, you may not be able to access your other Cam v3s unless you also update those to the latest firmware. And if you do that and then determine that you can’t live with the 3.11.0.758 app and want to go back, you’ll have a lot of cams to reflash.
