Hi everyone, our Wyze team is currently working to improve SD card reliability on Cam Pan v3, Cam Pan v4, Cam v3, and Cam v4. We are looking for users who are experiencing SD card related issues and are willing to share more information to help with our investigation.
If you are seeing issues such as recording stopping, SD card not recognized, or “No Video Available,” we would really appreciate your help. If you are willing to participate, please reply to this post or send me a direct message with the following details:
MAC address of the affected camera(s)
Camera model
Firmware version
SD card brand, model, and capacity. Photos of both sides of the SD card would also be very helpful if possible
Approximately how long recording runs before stopping
Whether you see any error messages in the app
Whether the SD card has been formatted
Whether this started after a firmware update
If possible, please also try the following steps and let us know the results:
Remove the SD card, wait about 10 seconds, then reinsert it. Please note whether you hear the “ding-ding” sound.
If there is no “ding-ding” sound, please check whether the SD card can be read and written normally on a computer.
If the SD card works normally on a computer, please back up any important data and format the SD card.
Reinsert the SD card into the camera. If you hear the “ding-ding” sound, please wait at least 1 minute and check whether recording resumes.
If the issue persists after these steps, please submit a device log through the Wyze app. When submitting the log, please note whether you performed the steps above and include the Log ID.
Thank you very much for your time and for helping us improve Wyze products.
I’ve had few problems with a variety of 32gb SD cards, when I do a long Fat32 formatting of them prior to use. If they start to have issues, doing the long formatting again, usually resolves the issue.
Sorry to hear it’s been frustrating. If you’re open to it, any additional details about the Pan V3 that had issues would still be very helpful for our investigation. Thank you for sharing.
I highly recommend anyone having SD Card issues assist with this investigation.
I recently had five v3 Cam Pans sent back (and replaced) for this issue. Hopefully my returned devices are being studied for what the cause might have been.
I’m having SD issues with my floodlight pro. This will the the 4th time in maybe 4 months I’ve had to reseat the SD card. I’m using the one that was included in the package. Maybe going to swap it out to a different card, I don’t really have many other issues with my other cams, just have to reset my thermostat about once a month because it loses connection, sucks ripping that thing off the wall so often to do that. Also with there was an easier way. While I’m here, I’d love to see smart smoke alarms/CO2 detectors. Would be a nice added touch and very helpful. I will submit a ticket for the floodlight pro and send my logs. Hate having to bust the ladder out and climb up there to keep doing this. Esp in the winter. Thanks for investigating this.
It’s the new rtsp thing that’s causing problems with my v3 and when I click as card, nothing happens. Live screen is always frozen always disconnects from home wifi when movement detected.
Issue probably started around 09/2024. I tried many different SD cards and none would work. Some might work for an hour or 10 minutes. Sometimes not at all. Didn’t seem to matter the card. The cards worked fine in other cameras. Did seem to start after a firmware update. Finally got a new camera, at a discount, because the old one was just out of warranty. The new one, in the same position, same cords, same adapter, newer bigger SD card has been working fine. Knock on wood
Hi @koz5544 , thank you for the update and for sending the logs. We really appreciate your help! I’ll pass along the product feedback to the team as well.
I am having issues with all 4 of my Wyze Cam Pan v3.

No Video on card
Whether the SD card has been formatted
On cards that were working, they ere formatted preciously, won’t formate using Wyze app.PNY 128GB Elite Class
I can put the sd card on laptop and see lots of video
I reformatted in exFAT on laptop. Tried them again, still fail.
Got different brand GIGASTONE 128GB Micro SD
Same issues with all 4 cameras.
The cameras will work 32GB and are being used at the moment.
I can put any of the 128GB in my Wyze Duo Cam Pan and they work. I get the DING sound. The app will format them while in the Duo.. I try one the 128GB which works in Duo Cam PAN into Cam Pan v3 where they still fail to be recognized with anything other than it needs to be formatted, which fails.
Whether this started after a firmware update
After the update.
One more interesting note, I do have a Wyze Cam Pan v3.on firmware 4.50.15.4800 which will format 128GB cards that are not working with Cam Pan’s the newer firmware.
Hi @thillock , thank you for the detailed information. This is very helpful.
Could you please submit device logs for all affected cameras? That will help us investigate further.
If possible, we recommend trying the following steps before submitting the logs and letting us know the results:
Remove the SD card, wait about 10 seconds, then reinsert it. Please note whether you hear the “ding-ding” sound.
If there is no “ding-ding” sound, please check whether the SD card can be read and written normally on a computer.
If the SD card works normally on a computer, please back up any important data and format the SD card.
Reinsert the SD card into the camera. If you hear the “ding-ding” sound, please wait at least 1 minute and check whether recording resumes
If the issue persists after these steps, please submit a device log through the Wyze app. When submitting the log, please note whether you performed the steps above and include the Log ID.
If you’re unable to complete the steps, that’s okay. Please still submit the logs and we will begin our analysis based on the information provided.
One additional question: on the Pan v3 running firmware 4.50.15.4800, have you ever experienced SD card recognition issues with 128GB cards, or does it work consistently on that version?
f possible, we recommend trying the following steps before submitting the logs and letting us know the results:
Remove the SD card, wait about 10 seconds, then reinsert it. Please note whether you hear the “ding-ding” sound.
No ding-dong, first says no SD card, then dialog come up to format SD card. This does not apply to camera Pan v3 running firmware 4.50.15.4800. I will recognize the all the 128GB.
If there is no “ding-ding” sound, please check whether the SD card can be read and written normally on a computer.
They all can be read on computer.
Example
If the SD card works normally on a computer, please back up any important data and format the SD card.
Did that in exFAT. Only fails when inserted in camera’s with recent firmware update.
Reinsert the SD card into the camera. If you hear the “ding-ding” sound, please wait at least 1 minute and check whether recording resumes
Only Ding-Gong on firmware Pan v3 running firmware 4.50.15.4800
If the issue persists after these steps, please submit a device log through the Wyze app. When submitting the log, please note whether you performed the steps above and include the Log ID.
