Both of my V3 pan cams won’t record to SD cards suddenly. Replaced with identical cards, they’ll record for about 3 hrs then stop.
About ready to go with a different brand as SD card recording was THE factor I buying these.

Been reported here numerous times. I don’t have that cam. Good luck.

Seems to be certain builds of the V3 pan are different.
I had 2 V3 pans and only 1 had this issue, the other one never did?
Wyze will just ignore this issue rather than replace that subset of V3 pans, they don’t care about the End User and Only about the Profit….
Glad to Say I don’t support Wyze at all
no cams or subscriptions will ever be purchased from Wyze ever again ![]()
Add mine to the list. It will record for a while if I restart it from the app then stops. I replaced the SD card thinking that might fix it, but same issue with a new card of a different brand so it must be a camera problem.
The issue that’s being reported for the Panv3 is that the card is not recognized at all. The new card you got, is it a well known brand bought from a reputable retailer? There are lots of fake cards out there and they wil exhibit the symptom you’re describing, write for a while, then stop because they’ve reached the real capacity of the card (not the fake capacity that is much larger).
I’ve tried it with SanDisk and Silicon Power cards bought from Amazon. The SanDisk was sold by Amazon and the SP was sold by SP. The SanDisk was working fine for many months before it started acting up which is why I replaced it but that didn’t solve the problem. I have 3 Pancam V3s and they are all having the same problem now. So either the hardware is failing or the firmware is bad.
SP are budget cards so it is possible that card is either bad or can’t keep up with the write speed (which would be pretty bad since they only write about 10 megabytes per minute).
i’ve had good luck with Sandisk Extreme Pro cards in my dashcams but that’s a very old endurance rated model that isn’t available anymore. I’ve heard mixed reviews of their endurance rated cards that are out now. Standard cards may or may not be able to tolerate the continuous writes so depending what you had, it may have just worn out.
I’m happy I do not need any more SD cards. I use Samsung Pro Endurance 128GB and 256GB cards, some are 4 years old and no issues at all. They used to cost $17-$19 for 128GB and low $20.’s for 256GB. Now the 256GB is $40.00 to $88,00. Last 256GB card I got was $29.99

I got my 128s for $13 a couple years ago, they’ve been hovering around $20 and the last couple weeks have gone up a couple times to $25 ish now. This year is not going to be a good year to be buying flash memory, SSDs, etc.
3 of my 10 cam pan v3’s no longer record to sd. Even the wyze brand cards don’t work. They will work fine in the other 7 cam pans.
I’ve tried going back to previous firmware but that didn’t fix anything so now those 3 are relegated to live view or cloud recording only.
If the cards are not recognized at all, then those 3 seem to be having the issue that various others have been having that has been a big mystery. Luckily I haven’t seen that issue but it does not appear firmware or app versions have anything to do with it.
Note the Wyze branded cards are nothing special, just rebranded “middle of the road” cards. I think I heard Lexar made them at one point (as they do for a lot of “white label” brands). So that shouldn’t have anything to do with it, the cams don’t require Wyze cards or even know the difference.
I’m starting to wonder if there was a large batch of Panv3s with a component or chip that came from a bad batch and are prone to premature failure. Or possibly they came with power adapters that send a bit too high or low of a voltage and over time cause a failure. At this point it seems like it has to be some sort of hardware issue and there must be some common denominator.
Sorry for the long update I drive semi truck and I’m not always available.
I have five cameras in operation. Two version three pan cams, and three version three stationary. They all run the same SD card. The three stationaries are working just fine. I took the SD cards from the pan cans that aren’t recording and random through a computer and the computer says they’re just fine. So then I took and put one of the pan cam SD cards and put it in a stationary camera and it’s been working fine ever since. I put the one for the stationary cam and the pan cam it record for two or three gigs and now it won’t access.
Just a couple days ago I did come into more evidence. We had a small issue with our grandson in one of our rooms where one of the pan cams is. I tried to access it and of course got the no video available and it recorded three gigs and then stop. However on a whim I told my son to take the SD card out and put it on his computer and see if there is any video. Which there was. It had recorded all the way until he took SD card out and was completely full however the pan cam version 3 was reporting it was only two or three gigs full and not No video available to access.
Last year the pan cans were having issue staying on. Sometime during the night between 0100 and 0200 they would just power off. 6 months later they had finally fixed that issue and I no longer have that problem. But the SD card access needs to be a priority this is exactly why I bought these cameras because they record to SD cards.
I have been with Wyze since almost their beginning and have been a loyal customer but this is really starting to frustrate me having the simple problems. I get it is kind of hard to figure out what change what but when you start having issues right after a firmware update maybe you should start looking into what could possibly be going on instead of waiting for 4,000 complaints, two firmware updates and then decide maybe we should see what’s going on
I cannot access footage from a few days ago off the SD card. It says ‘No video available at this time’ yet I can see that there was movement that the camera recognised. Some advise would be useful to know what the issue is. Thanks
How big is the SD card and do you have continuous or motion only recording?
Thanks for engaging with my query. I have a 64gb card in there and the camera V4 is set on Motion recordings
OK, assuming you don’t have a ton of motion that should be able to hold plenty of days.
Are you able to view more recent events?
The SD card reviewing can be very picky about where you tap on the timeline when you have motion-only enabled. You can try zooming in (reverse pinch) and then you should see the small green area where the recording is and tap that. There also should be an overlay on the video itself with forward and back buttons that let you skip between events, which is useful also.
If the data simply isn’t there, it may be that the card just needs to be formatted, could have gotten corrupted. But you can try pulling it and putting in a computer and seeing if you can get the clips you’re looking for that way too, prior to formatting it.
So, I have two cameras and one only allows me to access events from two days ago and the other one from three days ago. I will try your suggestions to zoom in on the screen and to also see if I can view it on my laptop. If neither of those work then yes I will reformat the cards.
64 gigs should be enough for like 5+ days of continuous recording so with events only it should be much more. Did you have any internet or power outages around that time, potentially related to the storms? If the cam reboots (which several models will do if they lose connection) and still can’t connect to the internet, it can’t set its time. In which case it starts recording the files under the day the firmware was built. Wonder if something like that is impacting you. Easy way to tell might be go back a week or two and see if the clips are fine, and there is just a couple days gap in the middle, which would potentially suggest that’s what happened. If so, the clips are there, just need to find that date (or put them in a PC which makes it easier to look for them).
If you do put them in a PC, once you have what you need, can’t hurt to give them a quick format with the utility from sdcard.org which basically reverts them to factory state and puts a clean default format on them. Even a full overwrite isn’t a bad idea, just takes longer, probably an hour or so for 64 gig, but it can identify and exclude any “bad spots” on the card so they hopefully won’t get used going forward.
Super advice. I will get back to you on this Dave
So, I have put the SD card into my laptop and I can watch all 5 days worth of recordings. But on my Android I can only access recordings from the previous three days.
