I’ve had WYZE cams for many years, I have about 10 and many of them have stopped recording to the SD card, V2s, V3s, Pan V2 and sometimes my Pan V3 stops recording as well. I’ve done all the trouble shooting there needs to be done and nothing. These cameras have become very unreliable over the last year or so… what’s going on? Is there a fix? Is it time to move on?
What kind of cards - are you sure they aren’t going bad? They have a certain lifespan they’re good for, some will last a lot longer than others.
Seems more likely than having that many cams with the card slot/controller failing, though obviously that’s not impossible.
yeah, seems like some bad firmware somewhere. They WORKED GREAT for years with the same SD cards. then all of the sudden they’ve stopped. And usually after some firmware update. Seems there’s no wyze techs around to actually look and fix the issue.
I have had the same issue. They have worked fine previously, the firmware is up to date. I have several of the Pan Cam V3 some work fone some suddenly dont have the sd card slot active. I have a few other camera that i had bought and didnt get them opened and installed right away and they have never recognized the SD card and I have tried multiple card in those cameras. Would be nice to see an update to correct this ASAP because that was one of the major driving points i had for purchasing these. Disappointed for sure.
Im not sure about the original poster… but mine all quit working at the same time. Would be unusual to have multiple cards go bad. I have a camera that from vrand new will not recognize the SD card. I have tried 5 different cards with no luck. The continuous recording as a big part of choosing the Wyze brand. I am hoping this is resolved soon as I do not believe it is a MY issue.
If you install SD cards at the same time and they’re all recording at about the same rate it wouldn’t be impossible to have multiple ones go bad around the same time, they all have the same lifespan.
But how are you trying to access? Some of the cams (Panv3 particularly) have an issue when trying to view a clip from the events tab, but it works fine if you go through the camera live view and either tap an event there or go to the SD card.
I have two Panv3s in continuous recording with latest firmware and app and both are working fine (other than the events tab bug).
5 other cams (OG and v4) also all working fine.
It would be nice if the app would alert us when cards go bad, not recognised or no longer record.
The one time I had one have an issue (junky one I was using temporarily) when I went into the camera’s live view it did warn me, but would be good to have it come up as a notification even if you aren’t in the app or even when you first open the app, since mot of us don’t drill down into every camera constantly.
The 1st step to using microSDs are to buy “high endurance” cards from any brand #yw
I wouldn’t say “any” brand. Samsung and Sandisk are tried and true (for any SD card). The others are hit or miss, especially the really cheap ones that may slap a “pro” or “extreme” or “endurance” on a regular card.
I only use Sandisk. I have many cameras set up. Most are the Pan V3 but about half of my cameras arent recognizing the cards when they previously were working perfectly.
As I mentioned in my last reply, there is a known bug with the Panv3, did you try any of my suggestions?
I can view the event, but can not click the SD Card Icon. When going into the settings and accessing the SD Card, it says it is not available.
The SD cards were installed and diffenent times. I have 8 of these cameras, 5 of them arent working for the SD card
Have you tried different power supplies? Maybe a surge blew some of them out. Low voltage often causes issues with SD cards (people that run long cables to their cams run into similar problems). I’d try pulling the card and formatting, then booting up the camera with the formatted SD card and a known good power supply, maybe even a temporary known good cable. Just to rule that out as a possibility.
For that matter, are you using stock length cables and minimum 2A/2000MA power supplies?
