Fix-It Friday Callout

Well my Forum friends, we made it to Friday!

You know what that means. it means it is time for this month’s Fix-It-Friday callout! :tada:

If this is your first Fix-It Friday, welcome! For background, while our communities are not designed to be a replacement for Wyze Support , our community members and community managers do our best to help you out here. As our communities scale up, we want to make sure that any outstanding bugs or issues that you folks are facing are on our internal radar and that we’re transparent in our process of working on them.

Here’s how this works:

  • We’ll make a post on the first Friday of the month in every community (Core Community on Facebook, Forums, Reddit, and Discord).
  • Check the comments. If you see any other comments with issues that you’re facing, vote for them with a like (the heart button at the bottom of their reply)
  • Got something new? Reply to our post with the top issue that you’re facing this week with your Wyze products to help loop us in.
  • We’ll grab the top comment from each community and make a follow-up post on Monday to detail what those issues are and how we plan to fix them. If we need more info from the community to help figure out what’s going on, we’ll let you know on Monday - so please make sure to take a look!
  • The following Mondays in the month, we’ll be posting updates about our progress on Fix-It Friday submissions.
  • Sometimes Mondays are actually Tuesdays if we don’t get all the info we need on time for posting on Monday. Our apologies!
  • Remember, this is for existing things that aren’t working right. If you are looking for a new feature or for us to add functionality that’s not already available, please use our Wishlist instead!

We’re constantly working on improvements for everyone. But we hope that this process will both help us prioritize issues that are important to our communities and help you feel more in the loop.

Got a request for something new or an additional feature? Check our Wishlist to see if it’s in the works or has been requested. :slightly_smiling_face:

If you want to see how this works, you can check this previous Fix-It Friday post:

Thermostat says it’s offline for some users even though it shows as connected to the network on the router (even with the most recent firmware 1.2.7)

See the following thread starting around this post which is also talking about the new firmware not resolving it:

Agreed, still have my connection issue…

Wyze cam v3 not event recording or detecting motion restarted it three times and no luck

Yes, you are talking about how this article says we can control our bulbs without WiFi

Wyze Bulb Color has both a WiFi and Bluetooth connection, so if your WiFi goes out, you can still locally control your lights via the Wyze app.

Without WiFi, you can control Wyze Color Bulb from its product page in the app, but you can’t turn it on/off from the Home screen. Also, Rules and voice commands will not work.

https://support.wyze.com/hc/en-us/articles/360056440132-Can-I-use-Wyze-Bulb-Color-if-my-WiFi-drops-

And you are saying that you couldn’t get it to work without WiFi, despite the article saying you should be able to, is that correct?

I am almost positive that Wyze Bulb White does not have that ability and I am now trying to verify that the article is accurate on Wyze Bulb Color.

I’ve updated some testing I’ve done that may help someone with a band aid solution.

I still have the issues with firmware 1.2.7 No other devices have connectivity issues. I’ve even wired up a relay to a Wyze outlet to interrupt the red power wire of the thermostat to “reboot” the thermostat and regain connectivity. Really Wyze, should I really have to go to this rig-job to work around your connectivity issue. really!!!

Timelapse on my outdoor v2 does not work properly. Does not start when I select custom and now, only future time. And when done does not show up in album. But is recorded to card.

That is along the lines of what I was considering as a workaround. Glad to see the ingenuity of others.

James, got a 110v relay with a NC contact. So when not energized, the contact is closed allowing the flow from common-NC. Then to reboot the Thermostat, I turn on the Wyze Outlet (for 3-5 seconds) which then disrupts the flow from Common-NC turning off the Thermostat for a few seconds. Then turn the Wyze Outlet off, which restores the common-NC contact and the Thermostat powers back on and is fine for a random period of time. The only device in my home with this connectivity issue.

I even put a DHCP reservation so the Thermostat would be outside of the DHCP range and have a static address. No better. I’m at a loss with Wyze on this issue. Please resolve or come out with new hardware version 2. I’d likely buy that to solve the issue, as ridiculous as that might be.

Hi, everybody! :grinning:

We have our new batch of issue submissions! As a reminder, please remember to vote for the different submissions using likes so that we know which ones you’d like to hear about the most. That said, we have a good batch here, so let’s get started!

:bulb: Discord - Cannot control bulbs on Bluetooth when Wi-Fi is out :bulb:

This actually is expected! Bluetooth is used for setting up the device but not for controlling the bulb. We’ve clarified our support documentation and will remove this from the update list.

 Forum - When Wyze Cam v3’s are in a group some of them will fail to load live feeds and return an Error Code 90

Thanks for letting us know! We think we’ll need some microSD card logs to dig into this one. Could you please send those in along with your camera’s MAC address (you can find this in Camera Settings > Device Info) and the timestamp for when the camera went offline? Here are the log instructions:

When the device shows offline, please take out the microSD card and wait a second before re-inserting the card (or inserting a new microSD card). The camera will then make two “ding” sounds usually within 30 seconds.

On your microSD card, there will be a root or log folder with the device log that you can access with a computer. The files are named as xxxxx_log.txt. If there are multiple logs, select the most recent log file.

When you have the log, please email it along with a description of the issue and the date, time, and time zone that it occurred to:

microsdcardlogs@wyze.com

 Reddit - Wyze Video Doorbell Pro is detecting people outside of the motion detection zone

We’ve noticed some reports of this and see that it mostly appears to happen when the doorbell is using battery. We suspect that the doorbell is going into idle mode to save power. When motion triggers it to record, there is a chance that the detection zone is not fully loaded before recording begins. This shouldn’t happen on every motion detection Event. We’re working on improvements for this. If your case is different than the one we just described, please let us know so we can get more information to fix it!

:black_square_button: Core - Cameras detecting motion outside of the detection zone (Jason has asked for more info on this one): :black_square_button:

We’re looking for logs and further information about this. If you’re experiencing this problem, please let us know and give us a log number following this process:

Recreate the issue. Then in the Wyze app, go to Account > Wyze Support > Submit a Log. Select your device from the dropdown menu. Then fill in the description box with the date, time, and time zone of the most recent time you noticed this issue and a description of what’s happening. Make sure the Send Logs option is selected and then submit your log. When you have the log number, please post it here as a reply to me so I can get it to the right folks.

 Reddit - iOS cameras when grouped are not displaying properly

We just sent a 2.42 release candidate to beta. Please try it out and let us know if it resolved the issue!

:clock12: Forum - Wyze Cam v3 microSD card Playback is skipping the first minute of every hour (excluding midnight) :clock12:

The beta results for this are promising so we believe it’s resolved in the 11.4293 beta build! We’ll keep providing updates until the fix makes it to a public release.

:sob: Core - Playback stutters when selected for the first few seconds of Playback from the microSD card :sob:

This beta is also looking like it resolved the problem! We’ll keep you updated until the public release happens.

:crescent_moon: Discord - Wyze Cam v3 Pro spotlight will not turn off after first motion detection at night. Resetting fixes it but becomes an issue again about a month later :crescent_moon:

We’re still in beta testing and looking for feedback on this fix. Did it work for you? Please let us know!

:house: Reddit - Wyze Cam Pan v3 does not return to set home position :house:

We don’t have a new update on this one yet. We’re working with the manufacturer to test a new firmware version for this.

:astonished: Core - Wyze Cam Pan v3 detection zones not working :astonished:

This is likely related to the above home position topic. We’re still waiting for the end of the firmware testing.

:face_with_thermometer: Core - Error 3001 is happening on cameras such as Wyze Cam v2 :face_with_thermometer:

No further updates for this one this week! We have been seeing improvement for the 3001 error issue after the fix on Wyze Cam v3. We are going to merge the fix into upcoming Wyze Cam v2 and Wyze Cam Pan firmware. We’ll share updates here as we get them! This is expected to happen after the 11.x update for Wyze Cam v3 and Wyze Cam Pan v2.

 Core - Cameras appear offline in the app, though they are online and viewable

No further update here! We have the design ready for the health checker that will help with this issue. We have it in the pipeline for a future firmware release.

- Updates For Dormant Topics -

:mantelpiece_clock: Wyze Sense Hub Events not showing the correct time :mantelpiece_clock:

The internal testing for the sync change continues. We’ll let you know when we move forward!

Thanks, folks! Have a great weekend! We’ll be back next week with your new batch of updates.

Yes I have up dated firmware and still problems staying connected. My two thermostats are 15 and 20 feet from router. Yet I have several V3 cameras that are located two and three times that distance from router and they never lose wifi even though the wifi has to go through several more walls.

@sscottyfarms
Next time they disconnect can you send in a log and post the log numbers here?
