When you calibrate the QR code in the app, the camera remembers the coordinate of the QR code sticker when the door is closed. If the door goes up and the QR code sticker leaves that spot, it means the door is opened.

The wyze controller has no way of knowing whether the door is open or closed if it cant detect the QR code.
