Cannot Log Into Wyzecam Account With Older IPhones?

I have a wyzecam 2 in one location where I’m currently not at. I am the main account holder and have the free cam lite. I have an iPhone 13 mini. I have no issue checking the Wyzecam camera with my Wyzecam account.

I had setup wyzecam app for 2 people a while back. I created accounts for each of them. They have old iPhones. One is an iPhone 7 and the other is an iPhone 6s.

So for a while, there would be no issue if you would check the wyzecam camera with either of these phones.. However, a while back, one of the phones, the iphone 6s could not check the wyzecam anymore and could not log in. I recall checking that iPhone 6s and it seems that the phone was too old for wyzecam app so it no longer worked? Is that true? I recall trying to log in with the email and password but it didn’t work?

Now the other iPhone 7 didn’t have issues for a while. Then that person told me they got logged out of their wyzecam and could not log in. I think I helped that person log back in with their username and password and then it worked. Does Wyzecam log you out every 6 months or so in some accounts and you have to log back in? I know I don’t have that issue with my Wyzecam account though on my iphone 13 mini. However, not long ago that person tells me they are not logged in to their wyzecam anymore. So I then gave that person their username and password to log in to their wyzecam account but the message that the person kept getting was incorrect email or password. I am not sure if they might be entering the information wrong or not.

I am not sure what IOS each phone is on but is it possible the iPhone 7 can no longer log into Wyzecam app anymore with the email and password because it’s an older phone? What I do know is the last time I checked their phones, they can’t download that newer Wyzecam app and have that older wyzecam app logo on it.

That might be the key question to answer for each device. According to the Help Center, the current app requires a minimum of iOS 15. It also says that the actual hardware could be a factor, though. A Macworld article indicates that iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 should support iOS 15 (the maximum supported version for both, according to that source), but according to Wyze that’s still not a guarantee.

I’d still start with determining the iOS version. If you can figure out which version of the Wyze app is on each phone currently, then that would be a good idea, too. Wyze announced over a year ago that upcoming app changes would affect users’ ability to login with older Wyze apps, so I wonder if it’s possible that these people also have really old app versions.

Those are the best answers I can come up with at the moment, and I don’t even use iOS!

Okay so find out which IOS is both of those older iphones then. I know that one iPhone is IOS 15 and the other is IOS 12. The thing is I know that one of the iphones, I can’t log in with it because last time I tried it with one of the iphones and it said the app is not supported? The other iphone did work but now it cannot log in now. I know that the Wyzecam app on that iPhone is an older one with an older logo as it could not download the newer iPhone version like the one I have with the newer logo.

That’s why I mentioned (and linked in my previous post) Wyze’s announcements about changes to their login process affecting older versions of the app and why part of understanding this problem likely involves determining which Wyze app version(s) you and the other folk are trying to use.

I suspect you’re talking about the “app badge” (on Android, I call it the launcher icon), which also changed when the v3x Wyze app was introduced (see the illustration at that link). As I understand it, that new version of the app will not install on the device running iOS 12. If it’s possible and practical, then I’d probably consider trying to get both devices to iOS 15 (though there might be reasons you don’t want to do this; again, I’m not an iOS user, so I don’t generally track issues with that platform) and then try to install current Wyze app versions from the App Store and attempt login. If that’s not an option, then I’m not sure what you can do to get a pre-v3x app running on iOS, but if you can manage that then you want the app to be no older than v2.45x.

iPhone 6S and iPhone 7 are currently on iOS 15.8.4 so there should be no issue to login to Wyze assuming it is at least on v2.45.

FYI, your thread from 8 months ago.

I think the other iphone is 6 and not 6s. I just recalled that phone used IOS 12 though. So is that phone most likely iPhone 6?

The other iphone is 7 and it uses IOS 15. However, why is there an issue logging in then? I am not sure what wyze version that iPhone 7 is using but it’s an older one. I do know that the logo of Wyzecam app on that iPhone 7 is an older logo. Like if you compare the wyzecam logo on the iphone 7 and the one on my iphone 13s, the wyzecam app and logo is newer on my phone.

If it is iPhone 6, then the latest iOS available is 12.5.7. In that case, then it’s exactly like my iPad Air (1st gen) which I mentioned above and the latest Wyze app I can install is only v2.31.1. Therefore, it won’t work.

I’m not sure why iPhone 7 doesn’t work. Have the owner update the Wyze app to the latest version and then tell us what version it is and double check their iOS is 15.8.4.

To check what specific Wyze version installed:

  • Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Wyze

The latest IOS for that older iphone is 12.5.7. So that is why a while back I tried with that phone and it doesn’t work with wyzecam anymore right?

I have to ask what their IOS is. I do recall it is IOS 15. The latest wyze app that is installed… when did that version you mention come out? The thing is that person hasn’t updated the wyze app in a while. I think last time when I tried to update it, it was already up to date? I do know that the wyze app on that iPhone 7 does not have the same logo as the wyze app on my iphone which is the iphone 13s.

So if it is that IOS and that latest wyze app, what would be the reason? Is it possible that the person is entering the email and password incorrect? Is it possible you have to put a user password? Does wyzecam log you out every 6 months or something if you are using the older iphone like the iphone 7?

Yes, it won’t work.

  • iOS 15.8.4 was released on March 31 2025
  • Wyze v2.5 app was released on March 25 2024.
  • Wyze v3.0 app was released on July 24 2024. I believe this is around the time they started using the new app logo. You can check the release dates for each version here.

Inputting the wrong email and password is definitely a possibility. If you enabled 2FA, then it will log you out after 90 day. Afterwards, you will need to input the 2FA code again.

You need to get in contact with the iPhone 7 owner or even better to troubleshoot it for the owner if they don’t know how.

I’m just gonna jump in with one minor correction:

I used to make that mistake, too, but then at some point I realized that Wyze released a v2.5x app pre-2020 and then added a second digit in 2020, so what was released immediately prior to the v3x app last year was a v2.50x app. I’ve had to change the way I write that, too, because I don’t want to confuse other users.

Other than that, I agree with everything @grapefruityoda wrote, and, like I said, it’s a minor thing, but I don’t want there to be a misunderstanding about it.

For whatever it’s worth, https://go.wyze.com/releasenotes redirects to the same link @grapefruityoda shared but is easier for me to remember when I’m using a machine where I don’t already have it bookmarked.

I would still be guessing at this point about what’s going on with the iPhone 7, because I don’t think we have enough information to provide an answer. I think figuring out what version of the Wyze app is actually on that phone would be the next step.

I have iPhone SE version iOS 18.4.1

Welcome to the Forum, @jclark42753!

Are you also having a problem? If so, then what’s the issue, and what’s your Wyze app version? More detail would be helpful.

The person with the iphone 7 mentions that it is on IOS 15.8.4.

However, how would you check what wyzecam app version that person is on if that person cannot log into the wyzecam account? I know that if you are logged into your wyzecam account, you can check what version you are on with wyzecam app but what if you can’t log in?

I would expect to find the answers to those questions with a Web search. When I did that, one of the results led me to a StackExchange article that includes screenshots in one of the answers.

Android makes it easier (I think):
  1. Long-press the app’s icon in the launcher (on the home screen or in the applications list)
  2. Tap  App info in the pop-up menu.
  3. Scroll/swipe to the bottom of the App info screen to see the app’s version.

Can someone tell me how do I find out what wyze app version that person that is using wyze on the iphone 7 using if they cannot log into their wyze account even though they are entering the correct username and password?

How do they check what version they are on? Do they go on the app store and type in wyze and then if it shows open as the only option, then whatever is the version showing on the app store is what they currently have installed?

@Crease already provided a link for you so you/them can check what version of the app they have. I will provide you the same link that Crease gave you above.
