I have an iphone 13 mini and am using IOS 17.5.1. I use wyzecam app on my iphone with no issue. I have a wyzecam 2 in one location and a wyzecam 3 in another location. With the wyzecam 2, there are 2 people that I share the wyzecam 2 with and they have older iphones.
One told me that recently the wyze app didn’t work on their iphone for a while. It’s an iphone 6 and that person told me they could not log into wyzecam for many months already. That person now is using an iphone 6 plus. I downloaded wyzecam into the iphone 6 plus and noticed I could download only the older wyzecam app? It isn’t the updated wyzecam logo. Their other iphone 6 has that updated wyzecam app though. The thing is when I tried to log into their wyzecam account with either of these iphones, there is an error. I am sure the username and password is correct.
Does this have to do with their iphone IOS being old? That person used an iphone 6 and IOS is 15.8.3 and I can’t log into their wyzecam account with their phone? The iphone 6 plus phone is on IOS 12.5.7. So that person cannot use the wyzecam app anymore because their IOS is too old? The other person uses an iphone 7 but not sure what the IOS is but that probably won’t work either? So if the IOS is too old, then you can longer use the iphone with it unless you get a new iphone?
The new Wyze 3.x app only supports 64 bit OSes and phones. The OS requirements should be listed under the app in the Apple store and it should tell you whether or not it is compatible with your device.
Many actually aren’t able to install the 2.5 app anymore so if you have it and your phone doesn’t support 3.x, don’t remove it.
I just checked using an iPhone 6s, and I was able to install the app version 3.1 on it and use the app just fine, so I can confirm iOS 15.8.2 is sufficient.
I suspect you mean that person had an iPhone 6s, not a 6. It’s my understanding the 6s goes up to iOS 15, but the 6 only goes up to iOS 12
I don’t have an older iPhone to check if it’s working on iOS 12 though.
Regardles the one using iOS 15 should definitely be fine.
That is definitely the case in some circumstances. For example, if you have an iPhone 4, then the Wyze app will DEFINITELY not work on it because the app relies on some OS features, including critical security updates that came after that time. Honestly, anything older than an iPhone 6s is a security high risk issue. They don’t even do critical security updates on iPhone 6’s anymore. Assume none of your information is safe. Realistically, you should probably mostly avoid using anything earlier than an iPhone XR (2018) right now since anything earlier either has no updates/support or a few get only critical security bug updates (anything that came out in 2015 or later).
It is the way all things go. Apple will start requiring apps to update to the new security measures in the newer OS builds, and that will make lots of app incompatible with older phones.
My understanding is the phone has to support 64 bit along with the OS. With Android there are even fairly recent phones that get 32 bit android on them. Not sure how it is with apple, maybe the 6S is fully 64 bit and the 6 isn’t?
if the app installs, it should be compatible. Maybe they forgot their password or there is some other connectivity issue.
So the iphone that has 15.8.3 is iphone 6s then? I am not sure but I think it might be the 6s. I had thought it was the 6. I just know that the person uses a 6 plus now and the IOS is 12.5.7 and that software is up to date.
How do I know if each iphone support 64 bit? I never even heard of that ever.
Does thiis mean that person cannot use wyzecam app on the iphone with the iphone 6 plus that has the older 12.5.7 software? The wyzecam app logo is the old logo on that phone. With the iphone 6s, it’s the newer wyzecam app logo but I couldn’t log in the account?
All iPhones after the iPhone 5c use 64-bit processors, and those only support iOS 10 anyway, so they’re not really a consideration.
We also have reports of some people still being able to use 32-bit with the Wyze app, but you’re correct that it can be a problem worth checking in some cases where the app won’t run.
At this point I thought all supported phones had gotten the 3.x update but maybe the one user has auto updates disabled.
That being said, I’m not aware of them blocking logins from the older app (nor would a certain phone allow the app but block logging in). Maybe need to reset the password, perhaps they tried too many times?
My old iPad Air (1st gen) is on iOS 12.5.7 and can’t login to the Wyze app either, but it’s been like that for a while now. The latest Wyze app I can install on the iPad Air is 2.31.1.
Wyze announced that beginning of May 16 2024, the login function on older versions of Wyze app (2.44 and below) will no longer be supported. I tested this back in late May 2024 to confirm that I was not able to login with Android Wyze app 2.44 and below.
However, I think they made some changes recently because I was able to login with version 2.40 (any lower it won’t let you login) last week. I tested this on Android app.
I think you need to be using at least Wyze app v2.45 in order to login. On my Android device I was able to login with Wyze app v2.40, but I don’t know if this is the same for Apple devices.
Your iPhone 6S on iOS 15.8.3 should be able to login to Wyze assuming your Wyze app v2.45 or newer.
Your iPhone 6 Plus won’t be able to login to Wyze because the iOS 12.5.7 is too old and Apple’s App Store won’t let you install Wyze app v2.45. My iPad Air (1st gen) is also on the same iOS 12.5.7 and it only let me install Wyze app v2.31.1 so I can’t login as well.
I tried the iphone 6s with IOS 15.8.3 wyze app and when I went to login, how come the login screen looks bit different than the older layout screen? Did it change with the new wyzecam app logo?
When I typed in the email and password, it says it’s not correct? Anyone here have login issues? I created the wyzecam for that person a while back and when I try type their email and password at login, it doesn’t work?
Interesting, wonder if they updated the TLS to 1.3 after 2.44, only thing I can think that has happened somewhat recently (1.3 started being used around 5 or 6 years ago) that would have to do with logging in.
First make sure you’re running Wyze app 2.44 or above as per @grapefruityoda’s post. If you’re certain that phone supports the 3.x Wyze app (or already have it) make sure it is updated to the latest.
If all that is good and you can’t login, are you sure you didn’t create your account using the “login with google” or “login with facebook” features? If so you have to continue using that, you can’t use the email address associated with those accounts to log in, you have to actually use that login method.
All else fails, just have them create new accounts, unshare the cameras with the old accounts, and share it with the new ones.
I’d work on figuring out one device at a time, get the 6S working then move on to the next one.
To be clear, there are two different Wyze apps, 2.X which works with much older devices, and 3.x with cuts off support for some older devices. They look very different, even the login screen. If both devices say they support the 3.x app, then update them both. If one does not support it, then just try to make sure it is running the latest 2.x. However do not uninstall the 2.x app as you probably won’t be able to get it back on that device without a bit of “hacking”.
Okay so the iphone 6s is actually an iphone 7. But does that matter? IOS 15.8.3.
When I try to login to wyzecam app on the iphone 7, it keep saying I can’t log in. I am pretty sure it’s the correct password.
How do I check what wyzecam app is on the iphone 7? What I do is the wyzecam 2 firmware is up to date and it’s 4.9.9.3006.
Where do I check if that iphone 7 is wyze app 2.44 or above? When I open wyzecam app on iphone 7, I can click on get started only. Then I type email and password but it’s not correct. I then clicked forget password but there is no email for reset?
I went to check that person’s email and they do have old wyzecam emails. One was an email about wyzecam and turning on 2FA. That person has no idea about these things and never did anything about that. Could that be the reason for this? However, with my iphone 13 mini, I never had an issue though with my wyze app account on my iphone.
Is there a reason why the login doesn’t work with their account details and no password is sent to that email?
When I check my wyze app on my iphone 13 mini, it shows 3.1.0 (6) in the about. However, you can’t check that on the wyze app on the iphone 7 as it ask you to sign in but I can’t sign in with their email and password details.
When I click forget password and type in the email associated with the account, no email at all. Can someone explain why there is this issue?
You can see the app version in the phone’s settings without even opening the app.
It sounds like their account is either deleted or they simply forgot the login or password. Maybe they used one of the alternate methods to set up the account originally. Like I mentioned, using “login with google” and “user@gmail.com” is not the same as logging in directly using user@gmail.com.
When you do the “forgot password” you need to put in the email (or use the same “log in with” method) that was used originally.
At this point the easiest thing is probably to have them create a new account, unshare your cams from the old account and send a new invitation to them.
Okay I was able to get in the account. The thing is it asked to use 2FA so I put the email and then typed the 2FA and it worked.
The thing is that person doesn’t know anything about 2FA. At the moment, that person is logged into wyzecam on the iphone 7. Does this mean in 3 months, wyze app would automatically log that person out and they have to log back in with the same method? That would be enter your wyzecam email address and password and then you have the 2FA code sent to the email and then you type it in and then log back in again?
I never had anything like that with my wyzecam account that uses an iphone 13 mini though? I don’t have 2FA on with my iphone 13 mini I don’t think. So does that person need to log in every 3 months as the app will sign them out?
I’ve never been logged out of the app (other than when I intentionally do it). If they go for months without using it, they might get logged out, not sure. If they do get logged out, they just have to log back in and enter the code sent to their email.
I would not recommend removing 2FA from any account tied to your cameras. In fact I would tell people if they want access to your cams, they must use 2FA on their accounts and have a secure password, etc. These are your cams and potentially your privacy after all.
