Cams down again?

Almost two months to the day cams are down again. Making this post to monitor these. I’ve had Wyze cams for a while now and never have this happen. Any recommendations for a better company? I’m starting not to trust them.

There is already a recorded chronology of every major service outage on the link posted above. Wyze is pretty transparent about when they have large service outages. This year:

  • 4/15/24
  • 2/16/24
  • 2/2/24
  • 1/17/24

I have 8 v3 cams and out of those…6 are showing offline ,1 is showing failure to connect error -67, and the last one was disconnected but is now showing live feed… I don’t know if this helps. The one still working has cam plus on it

Wyze should inform with an alert. We shouldnt have to wonder, and search forums. Do better with communication to ur customers. We pay for these services

I don’t disagree (that there should be an alert of some kind with better communication options), and I addressed that in the official Advisory thread:

it is not just wyze, many aws based apps got problems
https://downdetector.com/status/aws-amazon-web-services/
of course aws status webpage says everythings works

So this is an Amazon issue not a wyze issue

Mine were working until a short while ago. Every one of them is showing as offline in the app. Rebooted modem, router, and cams. Still not working, so came to the forums to find there is an ouyage. I’ve had Wyze cams for years with no issues, until the outage 2 months ago and now this one. They can spam us with in app notifications to sell new products and services, why can’t there be an in app notification when there’s an outage?

All my cameras started going down around noon.

All 8 of my cams are currently working fine now. I did not have to even unplug or cycle them. they came up on there own. Thank you wyze for your prompt response to address these issues.

Never went down for me??

But then again I haven’t updated my cams or app in a while…

Too many times I have updated and then they quit working, I avoid the Wyze Updates to keep cams working  The early updater’s are Really the Beta Testers

Running Android, Wyze App v2.49.3 (399)
V2 Pan, V2, V3 & V3 Pan cams haven’t been updated since last outage.

Seems Wise not to do Wyze Updates to me :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I am a community member like you and not a Wyze employee. So I can’t send out emails about fees coming due.

However, I can say that I do receive emails when a payment is coming, so not sure what the issue is. I would reach out to Wyze and see if there is something that can be done.

I have the newest app and the newest firmware on all my devices (I have basically everything) and some of them even have actual beta firmware and none of my cameras went down either (neither the ones on production or beta firmware). So I don’t think the firmware version made any difference related to this outage since you have old firmware and app and I have new firmware and app and we both didn’t have issues with our cameras. :man_shrugging:

I did have contact sensors and 1 light strip that I had to power cycle, but my cameras were fine.
