Game changer if it works as advertised. Just set all my outdoor cams to ā€œNBDā€.

Testing!

Wow.. I look forward to trying this. Very interesting video from Dave overviewing the new NBD capability as well as futures … Very impressive. And very good price for this functionality.

Those of you using new Filter should share your experience about what you wish it would filter out and what you wish it would show, but doesn’t show.

Testing now inside my house. Cat and people walking around a lot. V3’s, V3 Pan, V3 pro, and V4’s.

15 min later…

Small Edit w/ Review Update… I have about 8 cameras in my house. I turned on Descriptive Alerts (NBD Filter) for all of them and turned on notifications.

So far… it is VERY impressive in NOT sending repetitive notifications. I’m walking around a lot. My cat is playing in the other room. Barely anything. It seems to send something when it sees something different??? whatever that means.

a little bit of a confusing thing…

I have gotten ā€œUnknown Person Alertsā€ a couple of times. Which, I didn’t think I would ever get again … as all alerts should be Descriptive. The Descriptive Alert follows right behind it but it does double up.

It’s definitely not sending 6000 notifications when it could. But it is chatty enough. So much so that I turned it off.

You can’t have descriptive alert notifications on with the NBD filter while people are home.

I will be testing the NBD Filter tomorrow when my cat is alone at home.

This new feature set allows for:

  • Notifications - All motion
  • Notifications - Smart detection
  • Descriptive Alerts - All notifications
  • Descriptive Alerts - Curated Down (remains to be seen how that really works)

p.s. NBD filter is a horrible name, if anyone is asking.

Just watched the full video on the filter. Very interesting how he explained what is actually happening. Looking forward to the future fine tuning of this new technology.

Descriptive Alerts are revolutionary in terms of the previous notification engine. So much more useful information in the alerts.

Does the new Cam Unlimited Pro replace the home monitoring as well, or is it just an upgrade to the Cam Unlimited?

@britton.nicholas - This is a very good question and one they should address much more clearly. I have the service and I’m un-certain of what I can do with it. I do see that I can dispatch emergency crews to my house?? but I don’t know if I armed cameras in Home Monitoring, what would happen.

I have the NBD Filter on at home with no one home. Well… the cat (Jasper) is home. He is not setting off notifications. But the events (both plain and descriptive) are being logged.

This is a NICE fix to this feature. I’m wondering if the cat does something unusual like knocking over something and breaking it… would it notify me?

I can only imagine it gets better from here.

I need to test this on my busy driveway camera with no detection zones and see what happens. Tons of cars go by. ** UPDATE TO THIS ** Turned off detection zones… turned on NBD filter for busy street. I have only received 1 notification for a maintenance truck that drove by. 8 other cars drove by and I received NO notifications.

I’m starting to see how much of a big deal this is… it’s going to allow people to turn notifications back on cameras they have tried to tune, tweak, box out, and then eventually gave up and don’t get notifications for it at all.

The fact my phone is not sending me a car notification every 3 minutes is pretty mind-blowing. 2025 is turning out to be a fundamental shift in the tech for Wyze.

Bravo Wyze. You just leveled up.

Does anyone know if any other company is doing this on the market? Descriptive Alerts with a smart filter? Is Wyze really the only one?

That’s funny, I had a cat Jasper growing up. Saved his life forcing sugared milk down his throat after eating poisoned mouse.

@Earl.Automation,

Like you I’m putting it through it’s paces.

The dog has its own doggy door to get in the backyard. There are 3 cams covering the sides and back of the property. On a typical day I get 10-20 notifications of the ā€œpetā€. I have learned to ignore them (to lazy to figure out a workaround). After turning on NBD I have received ā€œ0ā€ notifications. All the events are recorded as Events. Nice.

Am now testing the 3 cams facing the front. When the better half goes to work all heck breaks loose depending if she makes multiple trips to the driveway. Waiting to see what happens.

Still sorting out who’s on first. It seems that I am getting a regular notification followed quickly by a Descriptive Notification. Have not figured our how to turn off regular notifications. If I turn it off it seems to also turn off Descriptive Notifications.

I like where this is goingšŸ˜Ž

Does this mean you’re rescinding your previous offer?

Thanks for sharing your real-world experiences with this. I enjoy reading them. :+1:

My Jasper is a rescue. We love him. But he meows too much.

I’m not saying I wouldn’t save his life if he ate a poisoned mouse… But, there will be a part of me that will want to hesitate.

The offer is valid from now until Jasper has left this ethereal plane.

I’m seeing this too. I suspect there are still hints of bugs in the notification engine with all these changes. But, I’m not seeing them often.

You have a great use-case for doing this. Will be interesting to see your results as well.

I was only 14 and I had heard that warm sugared milk will make them vomit as well as neutralize the poison, so I went for it.

I think I derailed the thread enogh. Thanks for reporting your findings, very interesting I might say.

Will there be a Wyze Pan Cam 4 coming out anytime soon???

They haven’t publicly mentioned anything about a new pan camera anywhere that I know of. What would you like to see in v4?

I think one obvious thing missing from the current pan line up is higher resolution. All their pan cams are still 1080p.

The main reason I don’t have many pan cams is that they are notoriously terrible with tracking. They all track ANY motion and so they’ll get stuck on things I don’t care about (maybe a ceiling fan, or tree branches), which makes me turn the motion tracking off, which makes the pan capabilities pointless, so then I end up just using fixed cams anyway. If they fix that issue, I’d probably prioritize pan cameras more.

I’ve also not had good luck with cameras knowing when to go back to the home view or how long to track, and sometimes calibration being on.

Honestly, if they fixed the above issues alone, I’d probably buy pan cameras again, but the above issues kept me from buying many of the Pan V3…For now, I have one copy of each pan model, but none of them have met my pan cam standards yet. I’m curious what your standards/hopes in a Pan V4 would be.

Works great so far for our needs. Will still be watching for any problems.
