Having a router for 5 years without even updating its firmware could be the issue here. If you don’t know how to update the router’s firmware, contact your ISP for assistance. Also, see if you can a newer, more updated router to see if that solves the issue. Good Luck.
The YouTube video is just a video tutorial of the same Wyze instruction link @WildBill provided above on How to Flash the Firmware on your Wyze Cam
Unfortunately, as was discussed above, due to the new security updates in the most recent Firmware update, Wyze removed the link to download the last stable version.
Update:
4 cam pan v1’s went offline upon restart after 1433.
I was able to roll back 2 of them to 1002, and those 2 now work as before.
The other 2 cannot be flashed back to 1002, and remain unusable.
Wyze sent me a test upgrade which also could not be manually flashed.
Wyze then tried to push the test update via the usual process, but that also did not work, so those 2 cameras remain frozen on 1433.
I was told I would receive replacements, but I am now told I need to buy the replacements.
If Wyze’s policy is to issue a firmware update which essentially renders their products useless, and also renders them incapable of being either rolled back or further updated to a working firmware, goodbye to Wyze.
I’m not buying anything else from a company that will “allow” me to use their product for 2 years, and will then issue a firmware “update” that forces me to replace their now unusable product at my own expense.
I feel your pain. My 2 Wyze Cam Pan devices started to act up immediately after the 4.10.9.1433 firmware update. One at a time it occurred. I foolishly updated the second one and it suffered the same fate as the first. They show solid blue led and perform everything as they should and are connected on my wifi network verified by a scanner. The “Device Info” show bars of signal strength but does not identify the SSID wifi network name. The firmware update has essentially ‘BRICKED’ the cams!! I have called the Wyze support team and they are investigating and say they will email me back when they have something to offer. MY security level and risk for my wifi network is MY business. If Wyze needs more security at its end they can do it between the camera and their servers through enveloping the data perhaps. The app shows the cams as “ON” with thumbnails on the left side but will not connect. Shame on Wyze for not warning customers prior to the firmware update FUBAR.
I just ran into this problem today too! It looks like it took out all of my Wyze Cam Pan (four of them) and my Wyze Cam v1 (one so far) that I updated the firmware on. My Wyze Cam v3’s (two of them) are fine, though, after their firmware was upgraded. This seems to be affecting only certain models. Given that some of my cameras are on properties in another state… this is more than just a small inconvenience and will cost me time and money to mitigate.
I’m very disappointed this wasn’t tested better before releasing into production and distributing out to customers. This is EXACTLY the situation that provides the whole reason for quality assurance testing against real hardware during the staging portion of software development. There should ALWAYS be a step to test installs against expected situations and attacks (remotely powercycling at the AC should always have been a part of testing). Very unprofessional. I suspect that I will no longer purchase anything branded Wyze or Roku (since they now sell Wyze devices rebranded with the Roku name). In the meantime, I’m incredibly stressed out and stuck trying to mitigate or repair what I have access to until they are replaced with another brand.
These 1st gen Wyze Cam Pan models were also used in the iSmartAlarm launch and were bricked (or failed?) until the company disposed of the brand. I am confident they were bricked by shoddy devs. They are made in Asia and very reliable as far as the hardware goes from my experience until and if the firmware bricks them in some way or another. This situation is a designed in bricking, since it has to do with the wifi security. It should be easy to remedy, IF WYZE CHOOSES TO. If Wyze doesn’t wish to regress this firmware update, it behooves them to replace ALL Wyze Cam Pan v1s with the model that works with the latest firmware, FOR FREE!
I stand corrected, btw… the one I thought was a Wyze Cam v1 is actually a Wyze Cam v2 that got ruined during my update earlier today as well. So, it seems to be All of my Wyze Cam Pan (v1) and Wyze Cam v2.
The option to flash back firmware is available:

Sadly, this might be the only thing I can do but it will force me to travel at my own expense to locations on opposite side of the Atlantic coast of the United States just to flash firmware to regain working cameras again–and then continue to consider every firmware release an untested risk. The true solution to this is that Wyze needs to implement proper ITIL with real hardware testing as the last step in a staging environment to run tests before releasing firmware out into the public who must then suffer something this catastrophic.
Just tries this on one of my Cam Pan V1s and after the update the led turns solid yellow and appears totally bricked yet my wifi scanner can ping it. It won’t even respond to a reset. Also, after I had spoken to support over chat, I was promised gift cards for my 2 Cam Pan v1s and some time later I received this additional response:
"Hi xxxxxxxxx,
I hope this finds you well. My name is xxxxxxx, and I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing connectivity issues with your Wyze Cam Pan v1. Allow me to take over your concern on behalf of my colleague.
We appreciate your patience in working with us and for trying our suggestions. We understand how important it is for you to have working cameras. However, it seems that we have exhausted all the troubleshooting steps available.
Currently, we do not have any Wyze Cam Pan v1 in our inventory and do not have plans to restock so we are unable to offer a replacement. In addition, upon further checking, it looks like you have contacted us again and that your cameras are already beyond the Warranty Period.
For us to proceed with the $20 Wyze Gift Card that was offered by my colleague, kindly also send us photos of the cameras’ device labels (at the back/bottom part of the camera itself). Pardon the extra work. If you need more time to get this information, it’s okay. You can reach back to us again anytime once the details are available and we’ll assist you from there.
Here’s a reference number for this conversation: xxxxxxxx
You may take note of this and include this on your reply so you don’t have to repeat what we have already discussed.
Feel free to let us know if you have questions or concerns and we are always happy to help.
Thank you for being part of Wyze. Enjoy the rest of your day and keep safe!
Regards,
xxxx | Wyze Wizard"
My Cam Pans were purchased in 2019 and 2021,
Update: I spoke too soon. I have one of my Cam Pan V1s working again using the 4.10.8.1002 firmware. I am having issues with the other one with thelive video not showing although the cam is moving for me by swiping the thumbnail. Will report back later.
Was it the 2019 that flashed back to 1002?
Mine are from 2019 and 2020.
2019 flashed back, 2020 remains stuck on 1433.
If you can get your 2021 to flash back, please let me know how to do it.
I have both working now. I had to flash twice and delete and re-add the device. Eventually it works… for now. How rude of Wyze to retroactively render these devices obsolete! I expect they will come up with another method to accomplish this. Time to rethink this company for me. Don’t give up, it should work. The thumbnail finally changed to live video after I pressed playback and went back.
I’ve started flashing back the cameras I have at the property where I’m located today (Florida). Of the three Wyze Pan Cam v1 I have here, I’ve successfully reversed the firmware on two of the three so far and will be doing the last one shortly (it’s in a difficult place to reach–thaaaanks, Wyze). I will need to drive all the way to Massachusetts to go fix the remaining two cameras (one Wyze Pan Cam v1 and one Wyze Cam v2) over there when I arrive (again… gee, thaaaanks, Wyze).
I’ve already started buying another brand’s cameras to start augmenting or replacing the Wyze cameras here in Florida in the meantime and expect I’ll be doing more of the same in the other property. I never want to experience anything like this ever again.
I’m sorry to be so severe but their lack of development professionalism (lack of ITIL, testing, etc.) has ended up costing me time and money, interrupting my life and work, that I can never get back and that I’m sure they do not want to pay me for. I will not hesitate to make sure other people know about my experience. Believe that.
Has anyone tried the new update to see if it works with the Cam Pans?!
Wyze Cam Pan Firmware
4.10.9.1472 (November 2, 2022)
- Fixed a bug that affected camera IoT connection after a cloud outage
- Fixed a bug that caused incorrect membership status after switching between statuses
- Fixed a bug that caused Error 3001 when viewing motion and sound Events
Tried it, no difference on V1 cam pans.
They connect upon initial setup, refuse to reconnect after powerdown/restart.
Same result as 1433.
I have been running .1472 since it’s beta release. No connection issues for my hardware version though.
But, it isn’t an improvement over the last two versions since they tried to push Edge AI and IoT code to the cam board. Motion Tracking is still a hot mess and many are still unable to reconnect.
Here are the Beta Posts:
And the .1433 public release before that:
And the .1433 Beta before that:
And the .1002 Public Release when my issues started:
Ok there is something else at work from these inconsistencies. Can anyone confirm that the problem is to do with the difference between WPA2 and WPA3 wifi security? My router does not support WPA3… Apple Extreme.
My router does not support dedicated WPA3 either. The highest I can go is WPA2\WPA3 Personal or Enterprise.
But, when I switch to WPA2\WPA3, I loose some other, older, non-Wyze iOT that isn’t WPA2 compliant. I have to leave mine on WPA\WPA2 Personal for all my ecosystems to maintain connectivity.
When I do go to WPA2\WPA3 Personal manually to test this, my Pan V1 connects upon power cycle as usual without any issues.
