Been waiting for this prophecy to come true:

Though, it never worked for me with the V4’s. I was starting to think it only worked on iOS. Hopefully these ones will work on Android too. I didn’t see anything saying one way or the other, I just know I never saw an animated gif notification on the V4 when they said they tried it out on those.

Is anyone still getting these animated notifications with a V4 too? Anyone with Android? Or is this an iOS feature?

I’m using Android exclusively and have never seen this, even on Cam v4, but I’m also a non-subscriber, so I suspect that even the testing earlier this year might’ve been limited to Cam Plus or higher-tiered users.

Bummer. That leaves me out.

Is anyone seeing this yet? If so, what phone OS do you have?

I’m thinking this is an iOS only feature still (it’s not working for me on Android).

I saw this back originally when it was being tested but not since. I’m on android. I’m super glad it’s back! I haven’t seen it yet but now I’ll keep an eye out for sure!

When this was being tested originally it used expanded notifications. So on Android it was swipe down on the notification to see the gif. It’s interesting to me that the post says hold the notification. I didn’t know that was a gesture on Android.

Edit: I just ran a test and I was able to get a gif notification from my v3 by swiping down to expand the notification on Android.

Thank you!

Can you explain what you mean? For me to expand a notification , I just click the little V or upside down V on the right side, and it just shows me a static thumbnail image. I can’t “Swipe” down on a notification or it just slides the notification shade down more.

Are you able to view these in the notification shade, or just on the POP-UP from the home screen? Because mine don’t usually popup on my home screen. Maybe that’s the issue for why I never see the animation. I only look at notifications in the notification shade and they are always static thumbnails there :sob:

Using the V accomplishes the same expanding action as swiping does for me. This is all viewed in the notification shade. Would a screen recording be helpful?

My only other thought is to make sure you’re looking at the camera models that are listed. I had to go turn on my v3 notifications under the monitoring tab otherwise I’d never see this. I’ve mostly upgraded to 2.5k (v4s and floodlight pro) but I’m glad to see this coming to more cameras!

ABSOLUTELY! That would be highly appreciated, especially since I can’t seem to get it to work :sob:

Yeah, I tried multiple V3’s, multiple V3 Pros, and multiple V4’s (even though the V4 isn’t listed in this thread, I know it worked earlier during a previous test). None of those 3 worked for me (despite being on the latest production firmware). I didn’t try my Pan v2 yet…I have one, it’s just not plugged in right now.

Is it limited to certain types of detections? Like ONLY person detections? Though I had some of those too, and they still didn’t work.

I just tried and it works on mine, mind you I am on iOS. Maybe it’s time you abandoned the Dark Side

I don’t believe it’s limited to any types of detections. Here’s a gif style notification of my dog:

Thanks. I do exactly that but it doesn’t work for me. :sob:

I was using macrodroid to read notification and forward an http post as a webhook to home assistant since you cancelled the rtsp.

Now the notifications aren’t working because some people want a nice little GIF.
Can’t use version above 3.1.5 or something.

It as not been fixed since. I have 3.2.2 (586) and it is still not working.

Can we have an option to receive normal standard notification?

Thanks

On long press, I see only a static image, not GIF. iOS 18.1, Wyze 3.2.2.(1)

Oh no! I was planning to do this same thing to webhook notifications into Home Assistant with Macrodroid! That would be really annoying if it is not working now.

Is it only broken for these camera models? V3, V3 Pro, Pan V2? Do notifications for other camera models still work okay for you, or did they all break?

I am curious as to how this broke it though. Can you share an example (without the webhook link) of what your trigger is?

I ask because I was using MacroDroid for watching notifications a while ago when another app previously changed their notification structure and it broke some of my macros too. It turned out that Macrodroid had some picky options between Notification Title vs Notification [sub]text and I had to change my triggers/action-conditions/constraints to accommodate the app’s notification updates back then. I’m guessing this is something similar, but the notifications LOOK the same to me offhand:

There appears to still be a title and text that Macrodroid should be able to parse. When I was struggling with this in the past, I got some help from a guy who asked the Macrodroid forum users and they figured out a good way to resolve my issue. It could be worth seeing if anyone there has any ideas.

I am not in a position to run some tests at the moment, especially since I appear to not have received the new gif update anyway, but if you figure out what we need to do to get Wyze notifications working in macrodroid again, PLEASE share, because I have been intending to do this same thing (have Wyze notifications webhook into Home Assistant using MacroDroid). So I am very interested in hearing about what we have to do to resolve this.

Make sure to mention all this in the survey above.

I just don’t know how to drag or paste image in here from a mobile phone.

What I did is a small macro that logs the {not_title} and {notification} in a wyze channel.

My old phone has the same macro, macrodroid version and wyze 3.1.5. It all works on that phone and it wasn’t working with 3.2.x on that same old phone either. I tested it a few time new/old version of wyze.

Right now, I use my new phone to test new version of wyze and I still can’t parse the notifications about motion detected with the latest wyze version 3.2.2 (586).

What I just now noticed is that I can parse the sound detected notification.

To make it work use a wyze version 3.1.5 from apkpure or any other place you find it.

And disable auto-update in Google play for that app.

Yeah, might have to do that with a secondary phone (or emulator on a computer). It would be nice if I could just have my primary phone do it, but your suggested workaround with a secondary phone will at least work.

There has got to be a way to make it work with the new 3.2 app notifications though. They are still posting text, so it has got to be able to parse the text in that notification somehow.
