WYZE Wireless Duo Cam Video Doorbell Keeps Disconnecting

Hi Here,

I am experiencing terrible wifi connectivity issues with my doorbell (battery powered). For whatever reason, it keeps disconnecting from my wifi. I purchased a wifi extender to help with the signal strength, and it still disconnects every other week. I went ahead and purchased a replacement and updated it to the latest firmware, and still the same issue. I have a Schlage lock and not once has it diconnected from the wifi. The router is in the basement, but that shouldn’t matter.

I’m growing frustrated from uninstalling the doorbell and reinstalling it every other week.

Anyone know why this keeps happening? I have a Wyze floodlight camera installed in my backyard, and no issues there.

Mine seemed to stop yours runs purely off the battery, not wired?

When it goes offline, is the battery dead?

Does it still record to the SD card when it is not online or is the camera totally turned off?

I ask because I have had a similar issue in the past. Though mine is wired. What I seem to experience is that sometimes after someone presses the doorbell button, it seems to stop accepting power from the wires and switch to battery. Then I think because it is set to record continuously the battery dies fast and it goes to power saving mode or something. The way I get mine to connect and start working again is I have to turn off the breaker then remove the battery, then reinsert the battery and turn the breaker back on and it fully restarts and works normal again. I don’t have to go through setup again to restore normal functionality. This issue is not frequent but it has happened to me at least >=5 times and I was hoping the latest firmware may have resolved it. I’ve been looking for anyone else to report something similar.

I wonder if yours would be resolved simply by removing the battery for a few seconds to restart the device. That has always been sufficient for me.

Nope, the battery was at 55% when I had to reset the device. The ring on the doorbell still works with the chime when it’s disconnected from the WiFi. I’m assuming it’s due to the Bluetooth feature but I can be dead wrong.

This is probably my 4th or 5th time resetting the device. Haven’t had it for 30 days. Today’s reset only lasts about 2 hours. Went offline again. No idea what to do at this point.

I’ve seen something similar with router IP conflicts where 2 devices keep fighting over the same IP address, kicking each other off just like this. Maybe go into your router and set a fixed static IP address for it so the router doesn’t allow interference and keeps it stable. I’ve 100% seen that resolve frequent disconnects like this.
