Doorbell camera and WiFi connectivity

I have the Wyze door bell camera. The camera goes off line frequently. If there is the slightest drop in our WiFi the app goes off line and doesn’t reconnect unless I physically reboot and then go through the lengthy startup process.

Sounds like a network weak wifi signal issue, insufficient transformer power or both. Did you wire the doorbell with a chime controller or use the bypass wire? What is the transformer v/vac rating?

Never had an issue with my dbv2’s for almost 2 years. Upgraded to the doorbell duos and installed the v2’s at my son’s house. No connection issues there and it has been over a year.

I have the same issue. the doorbell goes offline randomly and does not reconnect. My only solution to get it back on line is to restart and go through the lengthy process to reconnect only to have it disconnect. This time it disconnected just a few hours after I reconnected it. So frustrated that i didn’t bother to reconnect it. So I have a orange blinking inoperable Wyzw doorbell. If my wifi signal does drop, as they occasionally do, all my devices, including my Wyze cameras reconnect automatically. It is confirming that I am not the only one with this ongoing issue.

My first question is why is your wifi dropping with any frequency? Is it cable? Router 2.4/5/6/7? or cellular (4 or 5)? Wifi should be consistent, is it geographics or your ISP?

If all other devices reconnect without intervention except the doorbell, my initial thought is possibly a power issue and/or location in relationship to the router. Can you post some info on your setup:

  • How many doorbells 1 or 2
  • Transformer size v/vac (e.g. 16/10, etc)
  • Chime controllers installed or bypass wires in the chimebox

Does anyone have consistent 3/4 bars on their WiFi That’s what I meant. Your other questions are too technical. Obviously I am not the only one who has this issue. Maybe someone else in the community can answer your questions and help us all. Obviously something is not working with the doorbell. If every other device, including Wyze devices, are working just fine a safe deduction would be the doorbell is lacking. My bulb camera is in the same area as the doorbell camera is is clicking right along. :woman_shrugging:t5:

The questions really are not that technical and cannot be answered by anyone else because they pertain to your setup and installation. They are things you should be familiar with if you are operating devices that depend on your network unless someone else did your installation. I don’t mean my comments in any condescending manner. This is all basic network device installation 100/101.

Assistance from forum users has a dependency on you knowing some basic details about your equipment and setup or a willingness to investigate and learn what you are operating.

Of course I am willing to learn. I will need to know where to find the answers to your questions if you are willing to walk me through the process.to do so.

I am taking this response as tongue-in-cheek, which is allowed in the forum. I’m game!!

ISP - Internet service provider?

Cable or cellular service provided by ISP?

Router wifi bands - 2.4/5/6/7?

How many doorbells?

Transformer capacity?

Chime controller/bypass wire - In box with doorbell needed for installation if using existing house chime.
