Don’t want to talk you out of a purchase but want to let you know that you can have the original doorbell in a camera group also. That feature was implemented not to long ago.
I was looking forward to this doorbell after the pro didn’t work with the Chimes, I figured at least the v2 would. This planned obsolescence of the v1 Chime is absolutely ridiculous. You would think Wyze would have thought that with the release of the 2 prior doorbells that most people would have gotten rid of their good old regular doorbell chimes. I bought 2 of the v1 chimes in order to work. I’m disappointed and won’t be getting this product unless theres some backwards compatibility added.
Be better Wyze.
If I am understanding this correctly, even though there are already wires running from the doorbell to the chime I have to install a separate chime controller to get the chime to ring. Effectively making my wired chime a wireless one? This isn’t a showstopper for me as I can do the work, but confusing because my existing skybell doesn’t require it.
My main complaints with the skybell are that I can’t also add an additional wireless chime (not solved here) and it isn’t part of the same ecosystem as my other cameras (all wyze)
Unless I am misunderstanding something, I feel like we have another missed opportunity. Instead of creating a new doorbell that did everything the old one did and more, we got a 3rd product that does something different entirely.
My perfect doorbell would basically be this but, without the separate chime controller, just use the existing wiring like my skybell AND have the ability to add a wireless chime in addition to the wired one.
I will likely still purchase this because it gets my doorbell in the same ecosystem as my other cameras and is a better resolution but still wish we could get the wireless chime in addition so I can hear it from my basement instead of relying on the phone alert as I do today.
Cool - just did it. I guess it wouldn’t let me add the doorbells to my camera group as the were already in a doorbell group. Once I deleted the doorbell group, the doorbells were available to add to the camera group.
That is excellent news (and long-awaited). I assume that it functions as an “always on” camera like other Wyze Cams. Is that correct?
Not exactly, the chime controller is wired into the chime box and to the chime. So the chime is still wired.

Ok, semantics maybe, the point is you require a separate controller for the doorbell to talk to the chime. Skybell doesn’t. Again, not a showstopper, just confusing.
It does not use the controller to talk to the chime, the controller is more used to power the doorbell properly.

Thank you for the clarification, and that makes more sense. I hope you can see the source of my confusion, it is called a “controller” not a “help power the doorbell thing”
However my point still stands, whatever is required is built into at least one other product, but a separate item for yours. Included, yes, but separate.
I still hope the hardware is there to support a separate wireless chime and you can enable that feature in software. If not, still somewhat disappointed here because I would like both.
Either way, still an upgrade over what I have, just not fitting 100% of my needs.
Showstopper… I have no existing wired chime in my house…. The next time you design (or find and rebadge) a doorbell, feel free to ask me and hundreds, if not more potential buyers what they might want in a doorbell.
I was excited about this…. then Not so much.
Also, I see where it says one has to have a “Security Plan” to use the Cloud storage?

If you need completely wireless one the pro version does do that, higher cost of course but does exist.

The way I read the description is that you get the 12 second recordings the same as with any of the other cameras. For more you need a subscription.
Kinda upset a little bit about this. I just ordered two Video Pros. I love Wyze’s 24/7 recording. I didn’t know the pros didn’t do that.
Will a vertical wedge be available? I’ve had a v1 sitting on the shelf forever because the promised vertical wedge never became available.
Will a doorbell press ring both the mechanical chime and send an announcement to all my Google home devices (Nest displays and minis)? Lack of a wireless chime is a huge mistake for lots of people but if it can broadcast to all my Google devices, it may be a sufficient workaround. How exactly does the broadcast work. Record voice, generic statement, electronic beep? Curious if anyone knows.
I know this has been brought up, there is not one currently available and I am not sure if they have decided on having one in the future. I will let them know more users are requesting it.
It is able to be set up with Alexa and Google devices.
The FAQ makes it sound like alerts on smart speakers is free, but the product description seems to indicate you need a subscription.
Even get smart alerts when a person is detected at your door, with Cam Plus.
And are we sure alerts work on Google Home devices? They only work with Alexa on the v1 doorbell.
Does this work with the wyze lock bolt like how the pro does?
How protected is the SD card? Can anyone just snatch it from the side?
I have a V1, I skipped the Pro due to a lack of a microSD card, I was onboard with this V2 with the return of a MicroSD card, then saw the loss of an electronic chime. So I might have to pass on this latest Wyze Doorbell for that reason.
Under Tech Specs i says "Security Plan" which reads different to me than a Wyze Cam Plus Subscription Hopefully I am interpreting this incorrectly.:
That would also be a deal breaker if I have to opt for a Security Plan on top of a Cam Plus subscription
