I have that concern too and asked that same question on the FB Core. @WyzeJasonJ didn’t think we would have a problem. But he was going to look into it.
I love my robo-Hazel. I have had it since they first came out. But, I just bought a second one just now for $139. Just in case.
Is anyone from wyze ever going to answer the beta test volunteers they have left hanging out without support on this one? helluva way to repay the folks willing to test stuff out for the company.
They’ve discussed it extensively in the past, and there isn’t anything new to say. Basically, if they allow the new update to people on the beta branches, the update will fail and will brick a high percentage of the Robot Vacuums and then require shipping the vacuum in for a manual firmware flash in person, which they are not prepared to handle. They actually set up a partnership with a group to handle this so they could mass-flash any vacuum that might brick on the firmware and then that group reneged on the agreement in some way. They stopped trying to work it out after that and decided the beta branches would mostly stick with how they were.
From what I understand, the majority of the vacuums on the Beta branches should already have almost everything offered to the Walmart production line though. I’m one of the people on the beta tract, so I might not be sure what I’m missing out on, but I seem to already have all the features that the Production Firmware devices have. What are we missing in Beta that everyone has? I thought their last major firmware updates in 2023 were to help them finally get the features most of the beta users already had and that we didn’t miss much. What are we still missing?
Still it would be nice if Wyze just told us how we could flash our own device from home, even if it is complicated. Then some people could switch to the new firmware themselves. I’m not sure why they don’t release that as an option.
I have and have been using a non-walmart robot-vacuum from about 4 years ago but am new to this site.
Questions:
What is contained in a ‘certificate update’?
I have been unable to find anywhere a list/description of what the system and previous 'updates are and what they do.
I’m not sure what the machine is supposed to be able to do or how it’s supposed to act - without which I have no idea if it’s working properly.
It does a good job of cleaning and I’m pretty happy with it in general but occasionally it takes off in odd angle directions and occasionally gets ‘caught’ in places that it should be able to get out of but instead it keeps repeating the same movements over and over without trying new directions.
Again, without knowing what it’s supposed to do and how it’s supposed to do it I’m unable to diagnose any irregularities.
