I first bought a Wyze device when they came out with their Gen 1 camera. From that point on I bought everything Wyze but that has definitely ended. The lightbulbs are too unstable to hold onto the WiFi signal especially when the 3 that keep dropping signal are in the same room as the router. The hand vacuum stopped working after only a few months of limited use. The doorbell needs to be replaced because it loses wifi connection. One of the cameras eats memory cards so I have quit replacing them. It makes the camera worthless. The newest is the robot vacuum has recently been diagnosed with dementia. It gets lost all the time. For no reason it will go off and do whatever it wants to do contrary to it’s instructions. Not to mention that I have waited and waited for Wyze to fix the mapping issues. I have to put a piece of plywood across a doorway so the vacuum will think there is a wall there. That will allow the mapping to include a section of wall as a wall and not a piece of furniture. Plus I read this forum and see the same problems constantly but Wyze continues to push new products without fixing the old. I don’t think I should have to have half a product while Wyze touts how wonderful they are.
Funny I see this title often. Maybe they can be merged into their own section as @habib suggested.
I quickly glanced over that thread and it’s been over a year since it was started and not much has changed
“Holy wall of text, batman!”. This becomes unreadable to me… so, I’ll just add an ad hominem attack.
Hi roborant and welcome back !
lightbulbs are too unstable to hold onto the WiFi I’ve had the same problem. Reversing the non polarized plug seems to have fixed it.
doorbell needs to be replaced because it loses wifi connection. Kept getting that error, too. My router log showed doorbell was attempting to use port UDP: 8000 [Internet radio streams] added that to my router, that fixed the problem.
One of the cameras eats memory cards Have you tried High/Pro Endurance uSD cards? They are designed for DashCams, Security Cameras, Drones, Bodycams, etc. This is a bit dated (5 yr ago) but info good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccd0Oo5uBek
Also try formating the card on your workstation using FAT32 and un-check the default “Quick format” option which will force a complete overwrite of the card and fix or lock out bad cells.
Robot vacuum has recently been diagnosed with dementia. So sad.
Really?!
It’s not April 1st.
Maybe something to do with noise/filtering, the bulbs may be expecting the base to be neutral which is normally bonded to the ground at some point.
Yes, the antenna is most likely coupled to the shell of the socket. The button at the center of the socket has only a small area and that is shielded by the shell.
Dr. Know.
I will try the plug although my scam filter keeps going off. I will look more closely at the log. Could very well be as you state.
The memory cards being eaten. Already tried your suggestion. I’ve gone through 7 or 8 cards. I decided it would be cheaper just to try and stuff my money in through the micro card slot.
The robot vacuum definitely has dementia. It will vacuum the area I tell it to vacuum but sometimes it just decides it needs to go on a vacation. It will just start strolling around. Sometimes in an area it’s vacuumed sometimes not. Most often it’s around its charging unit. One day it took half and hour of gyrations to plug itself back in. Of course the mapping issue is waned by Wyze and they continue to thumb their noses at their customers.
Thanks for providing a helping hand.
@roborant “stuff my money in through the micro card slot” hope you’re using paper bills
Don’t have a robot vacuum; get upset when objects move on their own accord around my home. Mapping has been a problem from the get go. Haven’t heard much lately. Just thank your lucky stars you don’t live next to a Waymo lot of disagreeable self driving vehicles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xvs0K1LG1ac
I went woth Reolink a long time ago. My few Wyze Cameras ver 1 remaining work “most” of the time, but when I need them they usually don’t respond.
