Wyze Floodlight Pro 2.2.1.1168 - Corrupting Recordings on SDCard

I have a Wyze Cam Pro Floodlight installed on the back and front. I recently upgraded to Wyze Cam Pro v2.2.1.1168 Firmware. Ever since, the Wyze Cam Pro has been only pushing 1KB malformed MP4 files to the SDCARD.

I’m going to be deleting these files and pushing the SDCard back into the device. However, I also discovered that, despite the fact that its a Pro Device, they do not maintain a Firmware list for manual downgrade for Floodlight Pro devices, which is aggravating.

Try a factory reset. I have had a couple times where a firmware upgrade on a FLPro caused things to malfunction and a factory reset fixed it.

For context, I have 7 Floodlight Pros installed and I just verified that all of them are still recording to the SD cards as normal on the new firmware.

You could try restarting the Floodlight first (turn off power to it, wait 10-30seconds to force the RAM to fully clear, then turn it back on). After that, I highly recommend you try the factory reset on one of them and see if that resolves it (hold the reset button in firmly until the obviously reboots, this will probably take around 30 seconds. When it comes back up, go through setup.

At least, that is what tI would try.

Agree with both you and @carverofchoice, format the SD card (using SD card formatter in a PC if possible) and factory reset the cam before reinstalling it (it should be out when factory resetting anyway). Don’t delete the cam from the app.

When you go through the setup again, name the camera the same thing and it will inherit its old settings.

Some settings might be deleted with a “Factory Reset” vs just going through setup again though…but some will still stay.

I think if we just go through setup again without a full factory reset, then the app and the local camera file mostly keeps the same settings in tact, but if we do a full factory reset, then all the locally stored settings get erased, but some of the app settings will remain (like automations/rules). Some of them might get restored from the cloud though. It’s hard to say. I’m just saying I would still double check all the settings after a factory reset since some things will definitely be reset this time.

My experience with OG and Panv3 is as long as you name it exactly the same thing, everything is restored, with the exception of one or two minor things (possibly have to re-add it to cam group or something like that). It even re-added it to my automations etc.

YMMV depending on cam model I guess.

Yes, but is that just for reinitiating setup with a quick press on the reset button (which I know happens in that case) or is that also true after a full factory reset (holding the reset button in firmly for 30+ seconds so it erases all settings in the camera)? That’s my question. I know I have done both many times, but I can’t remember if it makes a difference. My gut says that a factory reset will clear a lot more settings but still keep the automations in place as long as the device wasn’t deleted from the app, but I do not know for sure. As you said, it may also heavily depend on the particular device model.

As far as I recall, it has worked for me for all 3 of these:

-Setup button quick press to change wifi network (doesn’t delete it from the app so makes sense).
-Delete cam from app (which puts it into setup mode, unsure how much it erases from the cam, one would think it would be a factory reset for security reasons, who knows though).
-Long press setup button for factory reset.

Haven’t done any of them in a few months so can’t say it works as of right now but I do know it had to be named exactly the same thing to re-download all the settings.

I’m having the same problem with both of my Floodlight Pros after upgrading firmware to 2.2.1.1168.

I’ve tried:

  1. Power cycling
  2. Formatting SD card
  3. Factory reset (with different name)

Each of the above fixes the problem for about a day or so, and then we get right back to the error (cannot read the video files).

I’m getting the same error as well, and have tried the same steps as maine_wyzr above. After several restarts, a factory reset, and card formats, looking back at past events from the sdcard works for a day or so before getting the “Failed to load the SD Card event” error.

Firmware version: 2.2.1.1168

Have you tried a different/new/known good card? A bad spot partway in could cause that sort of behavior.

I’ll give it a try when I get a chance. But there’s a separate thread I just saw today with a large group of users having the same problem with their floodlight pro.

I have two Floodlight Pros - both stopped working at the same time.
Add to that the dozens of users who are reporting the exact same issue.
I’m willing to rule out a bad sd card.
