I used to love Wyze, but I feel like things have been going downhill with their cameras.
My Floodlight Pro cams have been experiencing issues after the recent update. I’ve already submitted a report on the issue.
First issue was the SD card loading issue. Footage will not load up. But it eventually got fixed the next day, but randomly recorded footage will not load at times when I need them to.
Second issue is connection. One of my Floodlight Pro had weak wifi signal bow after the update. Before the update and ever since I installed the one the Wifi connection has been good and strong. Now it down to 1 bat and even my router shows the connection for thid one has poor rssi. Keep in mind this camera used to have the best and strongest wifi connection. My router had not changed what so ever and my other Floodlight Pro wifi is normal with no issues.
Thirsd issue is both my Floodlight Pro’s today stopped recording to the SD card and did they did not record any events today. Bummer because a lot was missed. My other Wyze cameras seems to have been working normally with recording and event, Just not my Floodlight Pro’s.
Why can’t Wyze get these cameras working trouble free after firmware updateds. Paid a lot of money for the Pro and with the issues they are not so “Pro”!
I have exactly the same problem - I have two Floodlight Pros.
After the most recent update, they both stopped writing to the SD card.
I tried power-cycling, resetting services, formatting SD card … each of these fixes the issue for about a day, and then they both go back to being unable to work with the SD card.
Both my flood light pro cameras are unable to retrieve video from the SD card. I even bought new memory thinking something was wrong with the memory. This is disappointing. This has been happening for me for at least two weeks.
Add me to the list. I just noticed same issues happening with my floodlight pro. On top of also having missed notifications from the app but that’s a matter for a different forum post.
This was working before. It broke when they rolled out fixes for other bugs. If they can’t find the previously-checked-in code that caused this, I wonder if Wyze even has a Git or similar version control software.
I had exactly the same problem today . The last SD card recording and event was yesterday, even as I walked back and forth in front of it today. Had to restart the camera again.
Another issue with the Floodlight Pro today was the lights did not come on when motion is detected. Luckily my outside cameras were on a switch so I can power it off and back on which fixed the issue. These issues suck after the recent firmware update. Evrything was working fine before! Come on Wyze get your act straight.
Wow. This is 100% a systemic error that just started recently. I did experience the exact same thing twice in a row just this weekend and was about to post in the forums about it.
One can only hope they issue a fix soon. Kinda pointless to have a flood light that does not turn on when needed.
The only fix to the motion light is to power off the floodlight and back on. Luckily mines on a switch so I can easily do it, or you can flip the breaker switch where the Floodlight Pro is connected to
That gave me an idea; instead of a hard boot (power off) as you suggested, wouldn’t soft boot work, too? And it did, a restart fixed the problem, thanks for the tip.
I used to scoff at people who boot their cameras daily. Now I understand, but still, regular booting shouldn’t be a solution to an unreliable appliance.
But thinking about it, a firmware upgrade also does a reboot, so why does this failure to turn on happen sunsequently? Somehow, either the app gets its internal tables corrupted, or the backend does things on the fly and corrupts the settings.
Edit -
Since it fixed this particular issue, I wonder if the previous problem I had with the floodlight not recording to the SD card is still there. Yep, it fixed that, too.
@p2788deal - could you please report back whether the sd card issue is resolved in the next couple of days? I found that this fixes the issue for about 24-36 hours, and then it goes back to not working again. Thank you - good luck
I had an automation set on my camera (start motion recording at sunset, stop at sunrise) and since i stopped it and let the motion detection on it has been relatively solid.
I still have SD card missing spots but overall seems better.
I don’t have an automation set up besides the lights turning on after sunset in the settings. So far it looks lkke the issue might have been solved. Both my FLP have been working ok with no issues for the past week. Still has a couple hickups in the timeline recordings that im sure is not related to my internet, as my other Wyze camera doesn’t have that. So far its an improvement.
But now one of my flood light pro is not giving me app notifications on my Android when a person is detected. It shows up in the events in the app, but my phone doesn’t show any notifications so I miss out when a person is detected.
