Oh, sure thing! This is what I do for a work-around:

This does work, and I genuinely appreciate @carverofchoice’s helpfulness in directing me to @Thesilente’s detailed post describing the work-around. In my case, I’m using a Wyze Plug, two Wyze Rules, and two Google Home Automations to accomplish this:

1. First Wyze Rule: IF Doorbell is pressed, DO turn off Doorbell Trigger (Wyze Plug).
2. First Google Home Household Routine: Starter Doorbell Trigger turns off, Actions Announce to household “Someone is at the front door” and Stream Front Doorbell on Home Hub.
3. Second Wyze Rule: IF Wyze Plug (Doorbell Trigger) has been off for 1 minute, DO turn on Doorbell Trigger. (This is the trigger reset so that the next doorbell button press can act on the rules again, and it also starts the next step so that the video stream will stop automatically.)
4. Second Google Home Household Routine: Starter Doorbell Trigger turns on, Actions Go Home (to reset Home Hub).

That’s what I’ve used for a while with good results to get a Video Doorbell v2 button press to initiate (via a Wyze Plug intermediary) announcements on my Google Home smart speakers. Since setting that up, I’ve also played with it some over time to get it to do things like stream the camera to an additional Google TV and a Chromecast. That just involves adding additional Actions to the relevant Google Home Routine.

Awesome, thank you so much. Moving into new home soon and want the new doorbell but always wanted a way it announces, and not have chime since the dog will go crazy.

You’re welcome. Like I’ve said before, I don’t have a Duo Cam Doorbell to play with, so I’m making assumptions that the same kind of doorbell button press can work to initiate Automations (the same way it does with Video Doorbell v2). I hope all goes well with the move!

Wyze Chime Controller

I reached out because of a related issue with my Duo. Mine came with the Wi-Fi chime, but it didn’t include the Chime Controller needed to use it with my existing mechanical chime. I was told that the Chime Controller is sold separately. Can you confirm whether it is actually sold separately or not?

As far as I’m aware, Duo Cam Doorbell has never included Chime Controller, which is why I wrote this after its launch:

I’m so glad Wyze did this: https://support.wyze.com/hc/en-us/articles/30196485654171-Can-I-use-my-existing-doorbell-chime-with-Wyze-Duo-Cam-Doorbell Now if only they’d do this: Hopefully that will be available as a separate accessory at some point. If they’d released this last year, then I wouldn’t have done this: No complaints, though! I like having options and opportunities to learn new things.

I was told that the Chime Controller is sold separately.

That’s also my understanding. At one point in the past, it became available as a separate accessory via the app’s shopping tab, and then more recently it also became available via Wyze’s Web Shop. What you were told jibes with the Help Center article I linked above (where I also included a link to the Chime Controller’s product page).
