Hi, I have TinyCam monitoring various V3’s and V4’s on my Nvidia Shield. I’ve added the DuoCam doorbell to TinyCam but when I go to access the feed it reads " P2P camera is not supported."
Has anyone gotten this to work or is it just not compatible with TinyCam?
TinyCam has to update anytime a new product or interface comes out. How quickly they do that is basically up to the developers, but seems they usually get things done pretty quickly.
The cofounder has often answered these kind of questions in there in the past, so I would try that. He is also a Wyze Employee, so he should be able to figure it out since he’ll have access to both systems.
Thanks for the tip. I emailed info@tinysolutionsllc.com (that was the email contact on the Play Store) earlier today and awaiting a response. I’ll try Reddit, if I don’t receive one.
Any update here from alexeyvasilyev? The doorbell cam works great in the Wyze app, but not being able to integrate via tinycam pro is unfortunate. Is this the best place to raise the issue?
He never followed up or made it happen. The duocam is a major dud, the battery life lasts a week here in NYC and it never connects to my android phone when someone rings it. I should have kept the Ring.
The person referenced is a 3rd party unrelated to Wyze that develops a free application that others get to use without cost. Attitudes like that are part of the reason those people stop making improvements.
That is absolutely false. The developer of TinyCam is a Wyze employee. So next time you want to scold someone, get your facts straight. It’s also a paid app. https://lv.linkedin.com/in/avasilyev
For those wondering more context, Tiny Cam is technically both a free app and a paid app, called a “Freemiun” model.
People can use it completely free. They can also pay a one-time fee for a Pro license to unlock more options. They can also pay a subscription for extra stuff (cloud storage.
Tiny Solutions LLC (tiny can) was created 11y9mo ago. Alexey Vasilyev was hired by Wyze in October 2020 4y4mo ago) where he’s been a Senior Software Engineer since then, though he still co-owns and works for tiny solutions too (3 projects).
The free is a waste of time. The paid is $3.99 and you get all of this (from the developer)
You can run tinyCam embedded web server and view Wyze camera through web browser. Check https://demo.tinycammonitor.com:8083/ (username: demo, password: demo). Fifth camera is Wyze cam v2.
You can view Wyze camera right on your Android Wear watches.
You can view Wyze camera on Android TV or Fire TV device.
You can have widgets with Wyze camera on your Android home screen.
You can have Wyze camera running as Picture-in-Picture.
You can enable background mode in the app and have your local DVR.
Yeah, I’ve used both. I used the free one for a long time, and it was still really useful, but then I paid for it during a Black Friday sale, and I agree it brings a ton of value for the pro version.
Tiny Cam was one of the final deciding factors in why I originally chose to go with Wyze over other options I was considering back in 2020. It’s an amazing app.
I just learned to live extremely modestly…well…mostly…I do splurge a little on Wyze stuff and affordable smart home stuff. I will usually host my own opensource alternatives to most subscriptions/services/software with only a few exceptions. As you know, I have never bought a new TV until this last December for the first time in my life.
All the vehicles at my house are used salvage titles where the insurance wrote it off as “totaled”…they aren’t top of the line things at all.
All our neighbors just assume we’re fairly low-middle-class. We’re not flashy or wasteful and don’t spoil our kids.
I will still give in to good sales on Black Friday though. I think I got TinyCam Pro for $1, which was worth it to me at the time.
It’s also how Wyze tricked me into getting subscriptions through them. They had a black Friday deal that let me get free V3 Cameras with a Cam Plus yearly license that was cheaper than the normal sub, and way cheaper than just buying a V3, so I knew I could even just resell the V3’s and thus get Cam Plus FREE for a year. So I figured why not. Then I liked it and upgraded to CPUnlimited So despite me being fairly anti-subscription, they kind of baited me into it and it worked. I’ve had Cam Unlimited ever since.
You hear this @WyzeMatt …you sneaky subscription growth people got me good…I got the subscription just to get a Way cheap V3, then decided I might as well use the subscription for the year I had it, then decided I liked it too much to get rid of it, and now I keep it even though I can do my own detections and my own cloud storage on my own NAS, etc. I like Cam Plus Unlimited too much to let it go. Your ploys got me.
Wyze doesn’t pay him to maintain TinyCam, that’s his own project. I did not know Wyze hired him at some point, but doesn’t change anything, this is not a Wyze app and they do not support or guarantee anything to do with it.
If you are a paying subscriber, I would go through him/them for support of the app. You aren’t paying Wyze for the app, you’re paying Him/TinyCam.
