When I mentioned different firmware it was in relation to the connection sequence. I don’t see how aspect ratio would affect that. But then again I’ve tried everything recommended to no avail, so who knows?
Yeah, I understand. Personally I think it may have something to do with the changes they made in .042:
Fixed a bug that prevented night vision changes
Since many are realizing login\image load fixes by locking the cam in IR NV. But that’s just my theory. Could be multiple issues.
Wow! Unbelievable. I have been working with Wyze about this problem and am also convinced that they broke it with the last firmware update. AND… I just tested the comment that if you wave at it while it is in “Step3: Getting video data” and sure enough, the LIVE View came right up. So it gets stuck in Step3 just like everyone says.
This Step3: Getting video data issue is very frustrating & hopefully Wyze will get this corrected soon! Other than this, my doorbell works fine - I prefer the 3 x 4 aspect ratio over the fish eye on other video doorbells, including Ring & Wyze Video Doorbell Pro.
Some days I have no issues connecting - other days it is almost impossible to connect - go figure!!
Have you tried to put it into IR Night Vision Mode ON permanently and run it through the wash that way? Many have found that it stops the loading issues if you can live with the Black and White video until it gets fixed.
Thanks for the tip - so far this has helped with loading issue. No worries on B & W
Just after I replied to you, video doorbell starting acting up and not connecting even with IR Night Vision Mode On! Wonder if Android users have as much problem as iPhone users?
In the meantime while we wait for a fix, here is the workaround that I found and let Wyze know about:
When your LIVE feed gets to “Step3: Getting video data” and gets stuck, press the gear to go to ‘settings’, select ‘Advanced Settings’, select Night Vision ‘On’ and then ‘Off’, then press the ‘<’ key to go back to LIVE feed and it will connect.
It took me a long time to find this workaround. I expect that it will work for everyone having this issue since it seems to unstick it by going thru night vision mode. Sorry, but if you use Night Vision, you will have to turn it back on. But, at least it is a reliable way to temporarily conquer this bug.
Your welcome. I hope it works for you too.
Thanks for this workaround! This is the only one that has worked 100% of the time for me. Hope others have the same results while we wait for a fix!
Update on workaround: I have been using the following sequence and it has been working on iPhone running iOS 15.7 100% of the time:
‘Advanced Settings’, select Night Vision ‘On’ and then ‘Off’ and then ‘Auto’, then press the ‘<’ key to go back to LIVE feed and it will connect.
At night, Doorbell camera will go into Night Vision automatically.
The only work around is use your fire tv remote with voice. It’s not just wyze cams that dropped, Alexa won’t display amazons own cameras anymore either. Very annoying.
Yes that’s the issue. Mine is also not allowing me to see video. I have sent to many logs to list. Error 09. I’ve chatted, emailed, chatted again, emailed again, tried to call and gave up after an hour. I uninstalled/ reinstalled the app. I deleted the doorbell and re added. I powered off the doorbell. I reset the router. I chatted again. I emailed again. I waited on hold for an hour and a half. Then I cancelled my cam plus and ordered cameras from a different company. If I charged minimum wage it would have paid for 4 of these doorbells in wasted time. I’m done with wyze.
I found a post in the amazon forum for alexa not displaying cameras, Sorry cameras don’t work on this device. Say “Alexa who’s at the driveway” or “Alexa who’s at the front door.” It’s the “who’s at” phrase that works. I’ve tried who’s on or who’s in and it doesn’t work. I hate updates.
Tried the command on my Fire TV Stick and the commands work . Tried on my phone and Alexa remained sorry
.
Glad it worked on the tv. I never tried it on my phone.
I think that was the first time I ever got my doorbell to stream on my Fire Stick! My other cams will stream, but Alexa is SLOW at loading.
All of mine used to work untill an alexa update. Now I have the wyze updates causing every issue that’s in these forums. They just can’t leave well enough alone.
VDB V1 FIRMWARE RELEASE ANNOUNCED!
The latest Video Doorbell (V1 wired) firmware is out of Beta and looks VERY promising at fixing the issues!
Here are the feedback posts that came in from the Beta Test:
I updated immediately upon notification & am a happy camper so far. What a joy to have live feed connect without a hassle! Updated my neighbor’s doorbell yesterday and it’s working great also. So far, it looks as if we have a winner.
Now I can’t wait to get the Wyze Cam V3 Pro in and test it!
Yeah, I found out the hard way…don’t try to use 5G network…I didn’t know devices were compatible only with 2G. Am I the only one that didn’t see that coming?
