I have been using Wyze Cam around our house for 3+ (4+?) years. Yes, I didn’t feel the need for any “monitoring” and hence never subscribed to Cam Plus. My old v2 & newer v3 cams are all working fine. I don’t have any alerts turned on but occasionally rely on the recording playback if I have to verify motion, especially at the front door such as Amazon/UPS delivery, etc. In Dec I decided to add a camera in our garage and bought 2 v4 cameras on sale (on Amazon). To my surprise, while the camera is working fine, I was so disappointed that the app does not allow me to view the recording playback from my own camera! I now need a subscription to Cam Plus!! What?? That is a HUGE disappointment. Come on… my own camera and my own SD card and I can’t playback what’s on it?
Is there something I have missed? Is there a work around? Help.
You don’t need a subscription. Please see if this topic resolves your issue:
Since you mentioned previously using Cam v2 and Cam v3, you’ve probably noticed that the Cam v4 UI has a significant difference. When you’re viewing the Live Stream screen of a Cam v4, you should see a SD Card icon in the control strip below the viewer pane. You can tap that to access a vertically-scrolling timeline of your camera’s microSD recordings. If you have recording set to Continuous, then you’ll see a solid green vertical line on the right of the timeline; if recording is set to Events Only, then the green line will be broken (with gaps where the camera wasn’t recording to microSD).
How are you trying to view playback? The event page is the cloud recordings, which do require a subscription.
The sd card recordings can be found in two ways:
From the camera live view by clicking view playback
Or if you click on the event in the events tab, you have the option to view the playback by clicking the sd card icon that appears in the collapsible menu on the right hand side.
Is that first screenshot from an older Cam Pan, like a v1 or v2? I think the View Playback button is available only in cameras with the older UI, so I’d expect @VaidyS’s Cam v2 and Cam v3 to show that (though I don’t have any of those). Cam v4 doesn’t have that as part of its UI.
It’s a v2 pan. I don’t have a v4, but from what I understand there’s still a mechanism from the live view screen to see the playback.
TY @Crease … Duh! I guess it’s to do with not being familiar with the new UI - I have seen that reference in some posts which I scanned this morning.
I had seen the “SD Card” icon but failed to investigate it further. I tried it now and see what you have mentioned. TY so much. I appreciate your quick help.
Yeah, that apparently has caused a lot of confusion. You’re not alone. I’ve been using Wyze products for six years or so but didn’t get my first camera until a couple of years ago, and I’ve never had any of the models with the “old” UI; I’ve just read about it and seen screenshots here in the Forum.
Yeah, that’s the purpose of the SD Card icon, I think, which is what I see in the UI going back to my oldest camera, which is a Cam Pan v3 (with the “new” UI).
