Wyze Cam v4 Firmware Beta Test 7/27/2026

Have you selected the Beta Firmware for your devices as well as signing up for the beta program?

you can do this by starting the app and go to Account. Next select About followed by Beta Program. Make sure you check the Devices you would like Beta Firmware for and then click on Save.

I selected All Devices.

Do you realize that everyone who is already enrolled in the beta firmware program and has successfully updated their V4 cameras to this new beta firmware is experiencing the same issues? The cameras have a loud screeching sound, along with significant lag during video playback.

It has now been almost two weeks, and there still has not been a fix or resolution for these issues. Because of this, I would strongly advise anyone who is not already enrolled in the beta program to avoid signing up and installing this beta firmware on their V4 cameras.

At this point, installing the firmware can essentially break the V4 cameras, with no available resolution. To make matters worse, there is currently no way to roll back to the previous firmware version.

Until these issues are resolved and a reliable rollback option is provided, I would strongly recommend that people stay away from this beta firmware.

I can see the firmwares now ( edited OG post) they just don’t install, bulk or one by one from firmware page or from device settings alone.

I read the posts, but I personally am not experiencing any issues at this time. In addition, I am just letting the individual know how to see Beta Firmware as that is not automatic when signing up for the Beta Program.

But I do appreciate your opinion.

I am glad you can now see the Beta Firmware. The V4 Beta Firmware install seems to be problematic when installing. Mine would not take in the beginning, even after restarting and clearing cache. 24 hours later, it loaded and has been running since.

As I stated in a previous post, mine has been running fine. But I may not use all the features. The RTSP simply connected and is now streaming in my Home Assistant Dashboard.

I do have the sound issue, but believe that will be corrected, this is what being a beta tester is. But my Camera’s still work and stream correctly.

I was able to install the firmware on all my v4 cameras. There were issues, however. I found I needed to reboot the camera immediately after the upgrade. Then when I activated RTSP, I would set it all up and it would not work with Blue Iris. By trial and error, I found out I had to reboot the camera again after setting up RTSP and then go back to Advanced > RTSP again. Sometimes, the RTSP information saved and other times it did not. In the end, I was able to get all the cameras up and working in Blue Iris thanks to the post from @powellk.

I initially had an issue that the spotlight button in the app no longer activates the spotlight on the V4 cam. Several hours later, the spotlight would work. Go figure. Other than that, its working pretty well.

Not sure if this is a hardware or software issue. But the camera is unresponsive after a certain amount of time after a reboot. I’m not sure how long, but it’s probably 30-60 minutes. Reboot, it’s fine. Even RTSP works for a while, then I’ll notice the camera is not responding in Frigate or HomeKit or the WyzeApp. Needs to power cycle. I’ve tried 3 different power adapters (2 from Wyze).

The same white noise problem on recordings here on V4 cams covering the front and back of my property. Live is fine. Beta FW and App. any idea when a fix might be issued?

Cam v4 distorted audio

Starting July 31st my cam v4 started recording distorted audio. When streaming the live feed all audio is crystal clear, buen when I playback the cloud videos or even if I download any video the audio is distorted and the sound is like high pitched white noise only.

Camera is updated to the latest firmware and I have removed it, re added it, reset it 3 times but issue persist.

I have Cam v1, OG and Pan v1, none of those have this issue.

[Mod Note]: Your topic and associated replies were merged to this firmware Wyze News announcement topic for better visibility to Wyze.

Please confirm your firmware version. If it’s this version…

That’s beta firmware, and your post should be moved to that topic for better visibility to Wyze, as other users are reporting sound issues on Cam v4 with that firmware.

Yes, that’s exactly the firmware version.

It seems odd that live feed it’s just fine, but when uploaded the sound is distorted

Thank you for confirming that. As noted above, I have moved your original post and our replies into this Beta topic for better visibility to Wyze, as other users have reported this same issue.

Ok, so I just got a Beta firmware prompt and after installing it, this seemed to have fixed the distorted audio issue.

Firmware 4.52.17.13 (beta)

I am testing my cameras now. I have one with no sound during playback. I updated another and it has sound during playback. I have more testing to do. Thanks for letting us know.

Hello, has anyone been experiencing Slowness/Framerate issues since the beta Version: 4.52.17.10 got released. It happens while watching the live stream in the Wyze App and Wyze Web Portal. It doesn’t happen on videos in events but just live stream.

It continues to happen in the Wyze App even if I set the resolution to 360p. There is lag for 1 or 2 seconds off and on in live stream videos. Again, this only started happening with Beta Version: Firmware 4.52.17.10 (beta) and Firmware 4.52.17.13 (beta) released today doesn’t fix it.

Mine was like that too and I had changed advanced settings to NOT record audio. After the latest firmware update it fixed the video playback skipping and the audio issue as well, I just had forgotten the NOT recording audio setting, but once changed audio was recorded.

You can try removing the camera, resetting the camera and the re add to your cloud account

I had three cameras stuck saying they were upgrading for a day. I finally powered them off for a few minutes and when restarted they let me upgrade. I waited that long fearing they would be messed up if I restarted them but it worked out ok.

I second this. in frigate, the live view of the cam v4 is 3x4. Recordings are still 16x9

Hi UK Mike,

I just installed a NEW V4 ( on the same network segment as my Old version OG cam, but facing the busy street in front of our home)

Turns out, the V4 has a tendency to what I would call, stuttering when watching live video feed. Where the Old model OG cam, is fine, while both are pointed at the same active street in front of our home.

Firmware Version: 4.52.9.6119

Just thought I would provide this as confirmation of the issue

:+1:

Same on my v4 indoors. Seeing this odd stuttering and getting 20% dropped frames
