Wyze Cam v3, Wyze Cam v3 Pro, and Wyze Cam Pan v3 Beta Firmware

You are representing Wyze on a Wyze corporate forum. I don’t think my request was out of line. I’m asking for their devs and QA to do a little more testing before pushing these beta releases to the TENS of thousands of cameras on the beta channel. If a few employees had tried this at home before posting it, I’m pretty sure it would have been caught…

No matter what is said, this will never end. It’s a Beta. If you don’t want it. Remove it. Very simple. Stop blaming everyone and blame yourself for not understanding what a Beta is. [Mod Edit]

Your request was not “out of line” which is why it has not been removed. You hit the reply button responding to a fellow volunteer user (Omgitstony) instead of replying to Wyze (1st post or topic):

Dear Wyze,
We beta testers are happy to help.
Happy to report issues that did not come up during development.

But we didn’t sign up to be Alpha testers
Alpha is the part you do in house, and make sure all is working with all the resources you have at your disposal to test your updates and ideas.
Then you go into Beta, because you still may not be able to test EVERY situation.

But the cameras being able to be live viewed after an update is so very BASIC of things you should do before releasing to your paying, volunteering customers…

Please pay more attention to your quality assurance.

Also,
Please make the app (at least the beta) be able to choose different versions of the firmware so that we can go back to older firmware without having to put it on an SD card and doing a hard reset.

Exactly
Beta test is typos, some functionality discrepancies, layout issues, type kerning,
Wyze erased 1000’s of man hours of time from productivity / leisure of persons lives with the push of a publish button.
There’s no way such a muck-up wasn’t easily replicated in house, unless someone was over mixing thier holiday dairy product with their distilled products or was approaching ham coma status from the party platters.
Neither of which I’m against. I love a good holiday ham coma and dairy in my whiskey as much as the next guy. But come on.

V3 not connecting since latest firmware update

Our V3 is not connecting since latest firmware update 4.36.11.7863, a couple days ago as I recall.
It gets stuck on “connecting camera (1/3)”.
I have power cycled the V3 twice, and even rebooted the router.
Same on iPhone, iPad, Android.

A spare with 4.36.11.4565 works, but scared to “upgrade” it.
Where can I download the prior firmware?

[Mod Note]: Your topic was merged to this associated beta announcement in Beta category.

NOT SURE WHY MY POST WAS MOVED TO BETA-land?

I swapped the spare V3 to the operating position (above front door, outside under large overhang so not in weather at all) and it worked immediately.
I brought the offending V3 inside. After a couple of kicks, it started working (3 feet from router). Device Info shows 3/3 bars of signal strength here.
Is it possible that the 7863 firmware decreased the wifi performance? Connectivity at that location has never been a problem in the past (2018 V2, then V3, alongside even earlier D-Link then TrendNet cams).

The spare (now outside) V3 was showing 2/3 bars. I allowed it to update firmware from 4565 to 7095, bad choice it seems, now it has 0/3 bars and needed kicks to connect. Does seem to suggest that wifi performance is reduced by latest firmwares?.

4.36.11.7863 is beta firmware… the gist of this topic. The 4.36.11.7863 has been paused due to issues. Please scroll up to the top and reference 1st post. Also reference the following posts from Wyze above:

sorry, i accidentally clicked the flags under your post now can’t seem to clear them

Oh the 7095 cam has 2/3 bars, my error.

FYI, I am noticing that when I am connected to the V3 with 7863 using my Android phone, right next to the router, I can NOT connect to same cam simultaneously with an iPadPro …

But I can connect to 7095 simultaneously from the 2 portables.
AHA, situation is that only Android can connect …

I do see how to shut off auto update.
How do I bow out from the Beta firmware installations?

If you wish to remain a beta tester and maintain the option to run beta app versions, but cease beta firmware updates, from your phone/tablet go to Wyze app Home > Account (icon bottom right) > About > Beta Program > Edit > uncheck by device type, “Save” at bottom.

Doing to the above action will NOT revert beta firmware to production firmware on your devices. It will only exclude you from future beta firmware updates for the unchecked device types. For cams, falling back to production firmware from current beta firmware requires flashing via SD card. The only other option to overwrite your beta firmware is to uncheck the device type in the app and wait until a new production firmware version is released where the production firmware version number is greater than your current beta firmware version number.

Seapup, thank you very much for that explicit guidance to find that well-hidden setting!

So spent a couple of hours here today, manually rolled back firmware in 9 v3 cameras to 4.36.11.7095. One camera wouldn’t go to the solid purple light, this cam has been finicky regarding which sd card it would recognise in the past, tried 3 different brands all 32GB or less and formatted FAT32 with SD Card Formatter but no go.
I’ve left the Beta group for now.

So just noticed this on my Pan v3’s. If night vision is set to auto it does not switch to night mode. Will change if manually turn night vision on. But if go back to auto will shut off night vision, even in total darkness. My other 2 seam to do the same but might be because of ambient light, they normally only sometimes go into night vision.
Resetting cam from app, with auto on will go into night vision, but if manually turn night off and back to auto, will stay in daytime mode, in complete darkness.
Pv3 cam firmware 4.50.4.7796 app is android 2.48.0.b377
Anyone else getting this issue?

Is your Streaming working now?

What is your App Version?

I’ll just wait out a fix from Wyze. I’m not going to pull everything down and reflash all of my V3s.

Perhaps if they weren’t capturing events and were totally dead I would.

Fixed the live stream issue on my V3, curious if this works for anyone else:

I updated 3 V3 to the beta firmware and like everyone else live view broke, while simultaneously causing error code -27 on most other V3 that I didn’t update. After a couple days I had 2 of the 3 live streaming, but couldn’t replicate it for the 3rd. Finally got it last night. I also noticed that if I turned off that last remaining broken cam, the loading issue on the non updated cams went away. Here is what I did…

Opened the cam live view for the broke cam using Mobile Data instead of wifi. Restarted cam from app using mobile data until it finally came online with a live view. Let it stream for about a minute then closed app. Previously it would only stream live until you closed the app, then fail to connect when it was reopened.

After doing this, live stream now works every time, even on local wifi. As a bonus, it completely fixed the failure to load , code -27, -20,-40, on all cams.

Android 14
APP v2.48.0(379)
V3 version on infected cams 4.36.11.7863, non infected 4.36.11.7095
Cam auto update set to ON, not sure that matters.

If anyone tries, let me know if it’s successful.
