Wyze Cam v3 & Pan v2 Firmware Beta Test 12/13/2022

Remove beta testing for V3s and your cam will update to 4.36.9.139 right after. You will have to wait for the next update to be fixed(4.36.10.3406). I bought 2 v3s 2 weeks ago and that’s what I did. After the update, add v3s again in beta testing.

Already did that to get them updated to 139. Just wondered why they won’t update to the latest beta.

The 3406, clips are not as smooth as the .139. There are a few lost frames. This is the only small problem I have on my 2 V3s which are up to date. Some have reported others.

My biggest problems are with my Pansv1 and cam v2. Some events do not upload so they cannot be tagged correctly. I have to restart these cams every day to free up memory. I was told that with the latest firmwares (security), the processor was too loaded. Since the summer, they have been trying to solve this problem. I tested several beta firmware that they sent directly to my cams (OTA) but the problem is still there. With the latest(1574), when I reboot them, sometimes I need to reset 2-3 cams to make them connected correctly.

My 2 new V3s are to replace my 2 back V2s because of this issue.

They have a lot of work to do…

So far as I know, there is no current Beta for the V3.

4.36.10.3406 was released publicly, but only OTA to those previously updated to the public release versions 4.36.10.xxxx

It is only available for download\flash for those on 4.36.9.139

Hey @spamoni - did you ever get any further traction on this? So far, 9/10 times, I’m getting blank thumbs only, making it hard to decipher whether I need to pay any attention to the recording (if it’s an actual security concern or just “some random motion”. I end up having to replay a lot of the captures just to make sure nothing foul is happening. 2K streaming seems pretty spotty too, even when cameras are mounted in the same spot as my previous v3 positions and while I recognize 2K takes more bandwidth, the fact I have seamless coverage from EXTERIOR wireless access points with ample upload/download capacity, it doesn’t feel this is just a matter of a ‘network issue’.

I know they are working on it and updating the AI Engine to correct some of these issues.

My Thumbnails on Events seem to be resolved now. I know they are working on the images with notifications and some other reported issues.

So basically yes, there is a lot of traction.

I will book mark this thread and post as I receive feedback.

EDIT

@XKaliber , I reached to see if there has been any progress, waiting for the answer to this. But They did ask one question: Is this primarily with the V3Pro’s? Or are you seeing this on other cameras.

Anything you can provide would be great.

Thanks

Thanks, appreciate your update and willingness to follow up with them! Regarding your question, I have NEVER (within my recollection, as an owner of multiple 1, 2, 3’s) seen this happen on any other camera recording other than on the v3p, so it’s something ‘new’ to me.

I’m much less concerned about the pic on notification than I am with the EVENTS page, since that is where I look for “unusual activity” during inactive hours. For notifications during the day time, I’d end up hitting the notification to see the live event anyway - lest they look down the end of a barrel. Now, I have to scroll through a list of empty event thumbnails on my v3p’s and skim through each one to check out the action that happens during sleeping hours.

Not a problem at all. I mistakenly thought your main issue was with the Notification Images and not the Event Page. I passed that on.

However, my thumbnails are now working since the last AI Update on the servers. I also did a few steps as well.

If you have not done this already, I would do it on one camera first. It may seem like a lot of steps, but it is something quick to try:

  • Live Stream The Camera
  • Click on the Settings Gear, top right
  • Go to Notifications and Turn off all selected options and then end with Turning off the main Notification toggle
  • Go to Event Recordings and Turn off all selected options and then end with Turning off the main Event Recordings toggle
  • Back out to the Main Device LIst Page
  • Go to the Account Menu
  • Select Services
  • Go to Cam Plus and remove the camera from the list
  • Back out to the Main Screen again and then go back to the iOS Home Screen and swipe up to stop the app from running.
  • Restart the iOS Device

Device was restarts, start the App

  • Go to the Account Screen , Cam plus and add the camera back to the mix
  • Back out to the Main Device Screen and Live Stream the Camera
  • Click on the Settings Gear, top right
  • Go to Event Recordings and Turn off all selected options and then end with Turning off the main Event Recordings toggle
  • Back out to the Main Device List Page

Then

  • Click on the Settings Gear, top right
  • Go to Event Recordings and Turn on the main toggle followed by all desired options
  • Go to Notifications and Turn on the main notification toggle followed by all desired options
  • Back out to the Main Device LIst Page

Now test to see if your Thumbnails start to appear,

Please note, I would probably do that tomorrow as there is currently an outage going on.

I followed through with your instructions @spamoni, let’s see if it yields the desired results. I’ve only done it for one of my v3p’s for now. The steps are long, so I’m just doing one for now. Those steps seem familiar as I had issues with CP kicking in even when the license was assigned and this was needed to resolve for it to ‘pick up’ on it. I even added the extra step of clearing the cache in the iOS app. When I did add the license back, the iOS app list kept on refreshing like mad and scrolling up/down with a 1000 error, but after it went nuts, it resumed to normal and listed the camera accordingly. :see_no_evil:

Sounds good. The latest Hot Fix seemed to fix the Notification Issues with the Lock, Vacuum, etc

That did it! Thanks, @spamoni - I will admit I did discover a really annoying thing though when adding/removing the CP license. The 1000 error was reproducible (and I hate it) when I went to add the v3p licenses back. The screen scrolled up and down on all my already-assigned licensed cameras and REASSIGNED the license to each one. It caused all my event settings to RESET on every device which was super annoying. I’m not sure if this is a known issue or bug, but was not pleased I had to reprogram all my event settings on every device TWICE. That was painful but at least all the pros now have working thumbnails on event list.

Interesting. I had the same issue but could not figure out how it happened. Now I know. If you post this, as a bug, I will acknowledge it as well.

But Glad it worked for you

Everything went downhill now @spamoni - I just submitted an official help ticket. Leaving a copy of it here if you have suggestions while I wait for an “official” response:

Hello,

I seem to be having issues that have compounded and increased in scope from an original problem. Previously, I have been having issues with ONE particular Cam v3 Pro not being very reliable and having issues with proper tagging of AI items. Along with it, thumbnails were showing up as blank. With the help of the Wyze community through the BETA forums (as I’m a tester), it was resolved with some major fiddling of settings/steps. See reference: Wyze Cam v3 & Pan v2 Firmware Beta Test 12/13/2022 - #49 by XKaliber

As I indicated in the thread, when unassigning/reassigning licenses, I received a unknown 1000 error at the top and all the licenses were reassigned to ALL cameras, even though they already all had active licenses. Since then, it seems like my cameras are only “partially” accepting the fact they have a CP license. The cameras will record more than 12s and no cooldown required, but they fail to identify anything other than MOTION. The only two cameras that identify PERSON are the v3p as it’s native to the camera. I’ve walked in front of the cameras, waved, smiled at it, drove my car and up and down the driveway, but everything is MOTION. The AI was at least 80% accurate before trying to fix the v3p problem, wish I had left it alone even with the thumbnail issue, as all the other v2/v3’s and one v3p was working fine.

It feels like the licenses aren’t being acknowledged properly or there’s some kind of bug. Recordings have also become unreliable as a handful of recent recordings are just ‘question marks’ on cloud replay. When the 1000 error code happened, as a result of reassigning ALL licenses, I had to manually reconfigure the EVENTS and NOTIFICATIONS for every camera. You can imagine, that was annoying given the number of Wyze cameras I have. Since then, the license count is extremely weird. Before, I was provided with 99 licenses, minus the 16 cameras. Now, I’m showing that I have 105 available licenses.

I’ve reset every camera, reloaded all the licenses AGAIN, reconfigured my cameras, and they they do not appear to sense anything other than MOTION. This is very frustrating and I’m seeking assistance to see if you can locate any licensing issue on your end and if you can see why AI is not working as expected. Thanks.

I did record a video of the crazy up-and-down screen with the error 1000, but I don’t even want to deal with it now until this all gets resolved as I’m exhausted :face_vomiting:

Thanks, passing it on now.

Have you installed the latest App?

Also, can you provide the Actual Ticket Number and Log, if you submitted one?

Yep, I downloaded 2.38.4.3 before attempting to do all this (the secondary attempt). Error 1000 still happens AND it happens even if you don’t add/remove a camera from the CP list. If you do even as much as hitting “Add Cameras” or “Add Licenses”, even if you don’t make a single change, it’ll do the crazy up/down thing with the error code and reset all cams.

It did of course fix the -1 group view code, but that was the least of my problems compared to this

I provided Wyze with your link. They are checking on it.

Question: Do you use HMS? If so, do you have Cameras added to it?

Is HMS “Home Monitoring Service”? If so, no, I only have CP and legacy CPLite (which isn’t used since all my cameras are on paid CP)

Yes it is. Do you use Cam Plus Unlimited?

Affirmative, Cam Plus Annual Plan - Unlimited is what appears.

That’s what leads me to believe something is wonky with licensing… because I get “part” benefits from CP (no c/d, longer records) but AI is missing. I’ve already tried retoggling and all that fun stuff. Some cameras are working, some aren’t… Of course the most important ones that face critical parts of my house aren’t, HA.HA.HA. Also, I had a LOWER available license count before… now it’s HIGHER. Talk about weird. It definitely happened as a result of (or after) that mysterious 1000 error code, no doubt about it.

Wyze should let me know soon, hopefully. You may be correct, in that it could be related to the Licensing associated with the Unlimited Cam Plus Plan.

EDIT

So they have this as one of the high priority items. As soon as I find out if it has been resolved or if they need additional Logs, I will let you know.
