Wyze Cam v3 firmware - Released 10/22/2023

I am running 4.36.7071 and the zones have not changed.

Not what you want to read, and it doesn’t help beyond knowing it works for someone.

Is it Android vs iOS specific?

Both. I’m using Android and tested on the wife’s iPhone. Same issue

I reported that to Wyze as well. They are working on the Fix.

Unfortunately Error 2009 is not fixed. Outdoor camera is still not functional.

I’ve just got an interesting respond to a ticket from Wyze support (Error 2009): instead of the fixing the problem they said; You have replied to a closed ticket. It’s a funny new way to handle the problems: just close a ticket and forget.

Updated to 4.36.11.8071 and all my detection zones are being erased. I change the zone, save it and when I come back to it it’s changed to 1 square

Did you guys downgrade the playback functionality for the Wyze cams? After doing the updates for two of my cameras, my playback download speeds for those two cameras are so low that playback is pixelated while the camera I didn’t upgrade has its normal playback speed in the high 60-100 kbps.

I upgrade one of my cam v3 to 4.36.11.7071 and know ai can save the detection zone selection. I have try different way, but once it is save and return back to the option only two square are selected.

Howdy Jason:

This is a MAJOR functionality issue. How does WYZE continue to release firmware that breaks major functions of your cameras?

I personally expect this to be fixed in hours and not days/weeks/months/years. Since it has already been days, I suspect we are on track for weeks before this is resolved.

I am on the phone with support right now troubleshooting this issue. Since she put me on hold, I decided to check the forum. Why is your support team not aware that this is a known issue that is being reported by multiple users on the forum?

I continue to be disappointed in WYZE.

I have multiple v3 cameras. Fortunately only two of them are now having this detection zone issue. I spot checked other cameras a couple of times. Those that have a detection zone when you look will continue to work properly. Those that have the buggy detection zone will continue to not function as advertised until WYZE fixes what they just broke. Only WYZE can explain why some v3s are impacted and others are not.

By the way, one of my cameras with the problem is CAM PLUS. The other is CAM PLUS LITE. Thus paying customers can get the same great service as those that simply own the camera.

WYZE is their own worst enemy!

I also have the same exact issue with the detection zone not saving. I just installed two Wyze V3 Cams on Sunday evening. It recommended I update the firmware right away…so I did. Big mistake. The detection zone is currently useless and I am super disappointed. WTF Wyze! Get it together! Where is the fix???

I have five v3 cams and just performed the 4.36.11.7071 firmware update on them successfully but with mixed results along the way…

Three of the cams updated in about 2-3 minutes without incident.

One of the cams gave me “update failed” after trying to update for a long time, for about 10-12 minutes. On the second attempt it still took a long time compared to the first three (another 10-12 minutes again) but it finally successfully updated after that second long wait.

The fifth and final camera update took a long time again, about 10-12 minutes and gave me the “update failed” message. I tried a second time and it took another 10-12 minutes and got the “update failed” message again along with “camera offline,” couldn’t pull a live view or anything, no connection at all. I went and unplugged the cam for about 30 seconds and plugged it back in and it came back online still showing it needed the update. I attempted the update again and after another 10-12 minutes (I was starting to get real nervous I might have a bricked/broken cam at this point) it finally switched to “updated” and was back online with the update completed.

I guess you never know when a seemingly simple firmware update might turn into an adventure you never wanted or asked for. :man_shrugging:

I wish everyone else good luck and success with their updates. :beers:

I just noticed my cameras were not saving detection zones, after I changed one. After looking over the forum it seems this issue has been going on for a couple days and a fix still isn’t out. Come on Wyze! Had you properly tested the new firmware BEFORE pushing it out, we wouldn’t have been waiting days to get our cameras to work right. Stop doing updates that give new features and focus on quality control with bug fixes!

Detection not working after last firmware/App update!!! WTF it is 10/24/2023, still no fix to date? It would be nice if we could just roll back the last update until a fix is available, after all these years come on team WYZE get grip with stuff like this!!!

You need to sort this out ASAP!!

Yes, the one feature we actually do need, is an easy way to roll back the firmware when bugs from a new firmware messing things up and Wyze takes their sweet **s time fixing them!

I did a manual roll back to the last firmware before this update to get my detection zones back. I also turned off automatic updates. Thanks for the lesson not to update in the future.

Read information from this link. You can downgrade firmware update. I downgraded five of my cameras.

Why has the firmware not been pulled?
Why is WYZE still pushing this update out?
Why can people still download the firmware and update manually?

Are the so called “security improvements” so vital it is worth breaking roughly 30% of V3 cameras that use a detection zone? (The 30% number is based on my personal experience. 2 out of my 7 v3 cameras have this problem.) All 7 cameras are on the same feces (you know what I really mean) firmware version discussed in this thread.

4.36.11.7071 (October 22, 2023)

  • Security improvements

The main reason is they don’t care. I tried to get help from the live chat and from technical support. No one responds with correct information or don’t respond at all. I even sent emails to the cofounders of the company they don’t respond. Consumers beware! Don’t update unless you know things are working. Check forums and reviews. Quality control doesn’t exist for tech companies. They let their customers find the problems.
