Wyze Cam v3 Connection Issues

I have been a customer of Wyze since their conception. They just don’t get the importance of stable consistent security. I have decided to install TP-Link’s Tapo products to replace my complete Wyze system; cameras, bulbs, doorbell, unsafe, etc.

I’ve also just purchased TP link Tapo C120 to replace all my Wyze cameras, it seem like Wyze are more interested in getting new products to the market instead of looking after existing customers and products

I just ordered the Tapo ColorPro. We’ll see how it works.

Is this a typo? Why FAT 32 in larger cards?
I have formatted cards larger than 32GB to FAT32 for an old dash cam but nothing else.

Here is another TP-Link camera that looks promising

Tapo seems to have a large selection of cameras. I still have to permanently mount my C325WB camera, but from the tests, it’s been working great. Hopefully weather permitting, I’ll have the tapo mounted & replacing my Wyze v3.

Wyze is definitely making my decision to switch very easy. The problem has only gotten worse. They seem to almost exclusively work on my home WIFI now. Before they’d sometimes be out, now they’re almost always out. Plus, now they are offline most of the time off my home WIFI, so I can’t even reset them. As soon a i turn on my WIFI at home, they’re suddenly online & working. Major software that thry don’t appear to care about.

Dude fly the coop! You said your piece now move on. Nobody wants your ads!!

I’ve still got my thre v3 cameras connected. I check them daily and now it seems like they almost always don’t connect when I’m off my home WIFI now. Sometimes its offline, but most of the time it wont load past 1 of 3.

Are only some of us having this issue? Also, my app says beta, I believe I signed up for that a while back. Not sure if that makes a difference & not sure how to get out of beta.

Do a search on the forum, it’s been discussed million of times.

I have setup a rule to power cycle my cameras so that I can quickly access the cameras. Lousy work around but does work

How do you power cycle them? Kill the power from the plug (real power cycle) or turn them off and on in the app (not real power cycle). When you turn the cams off in the app, they are not off, just in a pause state. There is still power and WiFi going to them except they shut down live stream, notifications and recording to SD card. It doesn’t solve anything.

I have all my cameras on a smart plug (non Wyze) so I can kill the power from anywhere in the world and do a real reboot. That way any memory leaks or IP conflicts gets resolved.

It is a SW App issue which is causing a. Connection or time out issue. Power down in the Web App. And the power up them. Does not need to un plug power but would do the same thing

No it won’t.

Any unplugging or restarting in app only last for about 5 minutes for me. Then it’s back to offline or just not getting past loading 1 of 3. If i really need to see or access something away from home i can do this, but it takes about a minute to get in.

I was kind of hoping they’d have released a patch or something by now.

Ok. But it does allow for reconnecting

Not sure what turn off and then on does in the App but it does allow (for a short time) access to camera. To me that implies a Web App issue in reconnecting to camera. It has been getting worse over the past 5 months. Wyze solution is to reboot camera which is not a solution. Given this is consistent they must know about it

I have two sets of cameras at two different locations and different ISP upload speeds. The one with only one 1Mbs Up drops remote feed very often The other one with 50Mbs Up never.

Of my 4 every-day camera’s the 2 Ver 3’s , will still not connect to phone app this morning , one is on a paid Cam+ subscrip. and thusly viewable through Wyzeportal on my P.C. and yes that function still works ? The other is not on Cam+ and both are serviced by different router’s at opposite ends of residence …, when I try to connect either Ver 3 Cam’s to phone app and get the now all to familiar "connecting camera by secure channel(1/3) , then , try-to-connect 2 times ", then quits the connection attempts and displays the repetitious "Connection failed " -"Please try force close app and retry " . Power cycle camera " Through all this end user hardship for some unexplainable reason event notification’s still get through to events page and are usually viewable ?.. just no live views from phone app .
So this morning , I am into my daily chores and decide to shut down phone , upon rebooting and opening Wyze app I can now see the Live feed on the Cam + Ver 3 , but the other ver 3 says it is too far from (tpLink) router , this has been a recent common occurrence , nothing has been moved in the 8 or 9 months since installing that cam ver.3 outside under an eave and router at 8 feet above floor and directly in a windows view to the back yard , yet in past month reception/connection problems have been constant .
Now I have purchased a 3rd router and intend to go even further into back yard in an attempt to regain that garden view Ver3 Cam data . Am getting too old to be constantly fiddling with this stuff , it has lost it’s appeal !

Hi OnlyAnOldGuy,
First, for your home wifi I would just stick with one router at your ISP modem port, and then invest in a MESH system of which there are lots from which to choose.
Second, the connectivity of the app is flaky as heck and from comments on here has so many possible “sources/environments” that the likely culprit is the app and the way in which it communicates with the servers.
Also, and the near silence from, and seeming inaction by, Wyze to resolve this issue, should just make you consider going with a cabled IP-based system. That’s the way I’m heading. The sound quality is still all but unusable, and the “ghost” clicks, pops, bangs, and other sounds my twelve V3 cameras constantly create, have me in a constant panic as to whether something is clawing through a ceiling, whether one of my parents fell, or something is failing mechanically in the house. It’s ridiculous. I laughed at and immediately deleted the hype e-mail from Wyze about their product launch a couple of days ago. They’ll never see another cent from me, and I’ll be withdrawing from the subscription as soon as it expires.

Have to admit I’m pretty much done, have four pan cams and four OG cameras and it’s pretty much a coin toss if they all work at the same time. My Wifi is great, router is top of the line, and yet 50% of the time i have connection issues. It seems the problems began when they did away with grandfathered accounts and started pushing their plug and pay agenda. I just dont trust these cameras anymore for security when I’m away from home.
