Wyze Cam v3 and v3 Pro firmware - Released 4/3/2025

Today we are releasing firmware for the Wyze Cam v3 and v3 Pro. Wyze Cam v3 brings an important security addition of SightSafe, and Wyze Cam v3 Pro improves the live stream connection and bug fixes.

SightSafe enhances security by embedding user-authenticated signatures at the media source, adding an additional layer of security to event videos and live stream

I updated my stupid near sighted V3 cam aka. (OOFO)-Out of focus. It was quite a long update but the camera seems to work ok and no :collision: or :fire: yet.
@WyzeJasonJ has the the firmware issue with the V3 Pro been fixed since the last start/stop update?
I only have one V3Pro and it is watching an important area (Front Door). I do not want it to be :headstone:

What is SightSafe?

V3 Pro firmware must be a slow release? My Cam shows up to date with the .1321 (October 9, 2024) with no new firmware available. Fine with me since it works without any issues.

Where do you set/enable it?

V3 Pro is a slow release, we want to make sure there are no issues. So far everything is looking good.

SightSafe is something on our end that we have been working on. There is no setting you need to enable. It is an added layer of protection.

Thanks Jason for the info. Good idea.

Can you explain what it adds?

So, when should we expect this firmware upgrade. All of my cameras; V3, still show the firmware 4.36.13.0416 (July 18, 2024) and none of them show a new or pending firmware upgrade yet. Do you have to push it out? Does it take a while? Thanks
Mike

Is it Wyze’s version of DRM?

Right, but we still like to know what it is

Jason hasn’t replied, but I was wondering if anyone has gotten the firmware upgrade for their V3 yet? Mine still doesn’t show any updates available. Still on last July’s firmware.
Thanks
Mike

I have it on two. Are you in the beta program?

I am still going to repost this from the beta thread for reference only as it is very unlikely this will get changed back.

Wyze Cam V3 with FW 4.36.14.2953:

It will still cause the V3 camera to restart itself automatically when the internet is out for more than 30 minutes. Once the camera is restarted then it will start recording in 20250321 folder with the timestamp of 2025-03-21 01:00:48 in the microSD card. It will overwrite the old footage. Alternatively, you can access the footage on the Wyze app as well on March 21st 2025 starting at 1:00am. Keep this date in mind when you power cycle your cameras without internet or when you experience internet outage for more than 30 minutes. This date and time is only unique with this particular firmware as that should be the firmware build date.

Alternatively, users can manually flash back to FW 4.36.11.8391 as the Cam V3 doesn’t automatically restart when the internet is out for more than 30 minutes. If you wish to be on the latest firmware due to security improvements and other bug fixes, then another possible workaround would be enabling local NTP server and NTP intercept on your router as mentioned below. However, not a lot of router have this type of function available so YMMV.

Lastly, if you happen to power cycle your V3 camera while there is no internet then it will start recording on the date based on the firmware build date. The actual time might be different than listed below due to DST in my Eastern Time Zone. The Wyze app might think there’s recorded footage (green progress line on the timeline), but if you don’t see any footage then check ±1 hour.

  • 4.36.11.8391 firmware build date is January 4th 2024 and footage should start recording at 20:39
  • 4.36.13.0416 firmware build date is July 3rd 2024 and footage should start recording at 01:09
  • 4.36.14.2953 firmware build date is March 21st 2025 and footage should start recording at 01:00

I can’t understand the logic for using the firmware build date for a default date when ntp calls fail. Would be better if every camera model defaults to a predetermined date-time.

That way the user and the app can go to the same date to check if there indeed was any clip recorded when the camera power cycled and there was no internet.

I updated all six of my V3 Cams, took over 2 minutes to do each of them. They are still working (for Now)

No, I am not in the beta program? Is that the only way to get it now? I saw that I can manually download and install the firmware? I am not having any issues with my V3 cameras; just thought maybe the newer firmware might make it “Better”. I can wait until it is pushed to the camera. I was just curious as to when the firmware would be available for normal distribution.

I think the reason why @WildBill asked you if you were on beta program is that the new firmware is exactly the same as it was in the beta since March 25th. No changes were made it just got pushed from beta to production. When I saw the announcement I was wondering myself why it wasn’t available to me until I checked the version number and I saw it is exactly the same as the beta.

In all honesty, I doubt it will make any difference in your case.
