Follow-up, both camera came online and updated yesterday.
probably me but why is getting firmware update so complicated. Using an outdoor cam but didn’t use a base station so i’d this even relevant?
??? We are talking about the WYZE Outdoor Cam which requires a Base station. The V3 is a indoor/Outdoor cam.
That’s exactly why I’m here too; looking for answers. Cameras work fine, but after the update, everything went offline.
Admittedly, I’m rarely here, because I don’t have many issues that require me to peruse a user forum to find answers not found, but it sure would be HELPFUL to have any known solution to the common problems noted in each thread PINNED to the top, rather than reading every reply on a timeline. #eek
I’ve never been able to update the outdoor cam firmware through the app so can’t say whether I’m experiencing the same issue as others.
I sent 3 hours last night trying to fix the firmware update debacle. 2 of my 4 outdoor cams updated fine. Others I had to do a hard reset and also reset camera router as well as my home router. No clue how that got messed up with firmware update but it did. I have a nighthawk router which sometimes detects problems and cuts off connection. But after basically deleting all devices and seeing up from scratch it worked. Should be easier to update firmware
Oh and cameras with update problems said less than %10 battery when they were over %80
You might as well do a factory reset. Every problem after an update requires this. I love the product when it works but you just have to do that
Well, it definitely was the user and not anything with WYZE! Thank you for responding, it is the V3, no wonder I was having issues. Thank you Antonius!
How do I reset the base station? Just deleted the base station and wco and went through set up again. Still cannot set wifi. Disconnected the ethernet cable and the blue led keeps blinking.
Does Wyze have any plans to upgrade the Pan Cam???
It wouldn’t be a new camera, just improvements/upgrades to an existing model. Since the Pan Cam’s introduction, over 3 long years ago, and thru the pandemic, Wyze has released a steady stream of new products despite labor, parts and shipping problems, so I don’t buy into that argument. Underestimating demand for V3’s may also be the reason they’re hard to get. My major issue with the V3 is it’s limited field of view, that could easily be solved by adding a rotating base. Wyze started out as a security camera company, but sadly has since lost that focus and morphed into a Walmart of gadgets. The Pan Cam is a great camera, but it’s way over due for an upgrade.
Finally updated the 4 cams and base today in 10 min. All working well for now ![]()
Any product release needs to make business sense. If the market isn’t there, it doesn’t matter how good it is, if there’s no viable return on investment, then it won’t be released. I’m sure Wyze has looked into upgrading the Pan Cam. They must have concluded that it’s a niche product.
Personally, I don’t like that the Pan Cam has a mechanical component. I’d rather install 2 V3s side by side. I used to have another brand of panning camera. Every time I looked it was pointed at the wrong direction. I had to fidget with the controls.
Did your base station connected via ethernet or wifi?
Since its release, the Pan Cam has been quit successful, proving a market does exist for it. Personally I like the Pan, I own six and would rather buy one of them, instead of two stationary cameras, to do the same job of one Pan. I’m looking for more of a solid answer as to if Wyze plans on improving the Pan; not interested in speculation.
Connected via Ethernet. I have good signals all around using the base that way. Furthest cam is 40 feet away.
If that were so, there won’t be this 3 year long wait for its follow on product.
