I consistently have these exact same issues all the time for the last couple years. I have changed internet service providers, I’ve changed modems, I’ve changed routers, I’ve changed plugs, of changed outlets (literally I bought new outlets and had them installed), The only thing that is a constant is Wyze. So if it looks like a duck, and it cracks like a duck, Wyze Will tell you it’s a velociraptor… Sorry I can’t be any more help. However it just seems like so many people have consistently the same issues but consistently the company will consistently ignore them and consistently blow off the customers. But that is my opinion in my opinion alone even though I’ve heard that exact same thing from other people but I’m just stating that this is my opinion in my opinion alone so this doesn’t get flagged as me trying to start something that is still real.
Everybody’s opinion counts. But it has been my experience with the cameras that I own, all the problems have been either router or ISP related.
Wyze has it’s shortcomings and I’ve had my share of issues with them but cameras have been performing as expected for me.
I highly doubt all 9 cameras have failing adapters, AND to add, 2 of them are also using a different adapter, and 1 is plugged into a USB port on a power bar. They all react the same way.
I’ve changed ISPs, modems and routers, all end up with the same issue.
Sounds like you tried everything. Can you set up a cam at a friend’s house or rent a hotel room? Environment and power is the only thing left, I would think.
I have 6 cams at home as well, and those are on the ISPs provided router/modem. Same issues.
Wow. I wonder if there is a common thread some where we are missing.
Hopefully someone will chime in with a further approach.
I wish there was an easy way to connect you to my network. I am not seeing these types of issues.
In these cases, I always wondered if I share one of my cams with someone having issues, if they could see my cam view okay. I never heard anyone say this would work or if it would be a waste of time. I remain curious.
They tend to look at you funny when you bring cams to a hotel room.
I’ve seen occasional comments here where people said they called into Wyze Support and they reset something on their account and things started working again.
If you delete all your cams (don’t do this with the Cam Outdoor cams if you have any), create a new account, and add a cam to that new account, maybe things will magically start working?
Has this existed on different phones/devices too? That’s the only thing you didn’t mention, worth asking.
EDIT - I guess you did mention in your first post, but still curious if it has always been those two devices or not. Seems like the account issue may be more likely though. Or maybe internet in your area is just flaky even on multiple ISPs?
If the cams and viewing device are on the same wifi (and the wifi doesn’t have a restriction like AP isolation, guest network, etc), the stream goes directly between the cams and device, but they do still need to communicate out to the internet. However I’ve had a stream up and live for an hour one time on cellular data without any issues, so it doesn’t seem THAT sensitive.
I feel like the timing (1-2 minutes working then have to refresh) must factor in somehow. I would think if your account was messed up it just wouldn’t work at all, but who knows.
The next step might be to look at your new router and try disabling some of the wifi “features” that can tend to be problematic especially for basic IOT devices.
As @ssummerlin said, environment is a factor that needs to be considered. The cams use 2.4ghz wifi which just about everything interferes with. And that’s really the main thing that hasn’t changed in your setup (nor can it change, but might be able to tweak some things).
Sorry, I must’ve missed that. I thought is one cam having issues.
I have seven cameras between two properties. The four cameras on one property do tend to disconnect but I know for a fact that it is ISP related. The upload speed is only 1Mbs and that is not enough bandwidth for four cameras to live stream and talk to the cloud when motion is detected. The other three at home no issues at all.
Like others said above, environment and networks are tricky to figure out.
I’ve tried reconfiguring my network and have been aware of the issues a 2.4ghz band can cause in terms of the interference and how many devices are on it.
The issues happen on both wifi and cellular data. They simply just do not stay connected without refreshing.
As a test, previously, I set up a new account on my fathers phone at their home and set up the cameras for his account etc and its still the same issue. After a few minutes the live stream of the cameras do not function correctly.
I’m at the point of it just being the cameras and not being able to handle the environment I need them in. Which sucks because in total I have 25 cameras if I include the 2 other properties we have them on.
Sounds like reaching a limit in frustration and what to try next.
Maybe try another vendor to see if you see the same issues.
Sadly it seems so
The cams will always be on wifi regardless of what your phone is on.
The symptoms you describe do sound like connectivity problems, however that’s a pretty broad topic.
Of the 25 cams you have across the 3 properties, do all of them experience the same issue, even when viewing one cam at a time?
I’m having the same problem. I have 12 cameras and I have 2-3 that randomly just won’t connect. It has nothing to do with the signal strength because I have other cameras further away and at the same distance and they all connect.
Bear in mind signal strength isn’t just distance based. Materials, angle of the camera (and thus the antenna), and even varying interference in each area all have an impact.
If it is always the same 2-3 cams, that would imply it is connectivity/signal related, but that could be that the wireless chips in those cams aren’t quite as good or have started to burn out etc too.
Yea, they’ll all experience it whether viewing in the grid or if Im live viewing individually.
I have it happen as well on new and old cameras. None have a consistent factor that might lead me to an answer of what the issue is. I even have one 5ft away from my router with not a single object in-between them and it also has this issue.
