I too have occasional problems with Rules. I have three light bulbs set up at a vacation home. All three go on and off when scheduled most of the time but not always. I also have cameras installed so I can “see” when the lights are not behaving. Sometimes I’ll find one still on in the morning so I have to manually turn it off. Sometimes I’ll find one has not turned on at all. The wi-fi coverage at the home is excellent. I do love these bulbs and the cameras so am not really complaining, just letting people know about the problems as well. Most of the time they work perfectly.
I had a similar problem and in a string in this forum there are a couple of good suggestions. I followed the suggestion to set a separate rule; one for turn on and another rule to turn off. It has worked flawlessly for a few weeks now. On at 7:30 pm, off at 1:00am.
Thank you - I’ll give that a try…
Support suggested deleting and recreating the rules, which I did. Seemed to be working until last night when one of the 2 bulbs started timing out when it was time for it to turn off. Same issue last night and tonight. I was really hoping to make it to the weekend without a failure!
Also having all kinds of problems of late with schedules and/or getting the PIR sensor to stop being stuck in “Motion” mode. We have a closet light that I setup for motion. The sensor is constantly becoming stuck in “on” mode. When that’s working, the bulb connected to it is also set to dim at night so that we don’t get blinded if we have to go through the closet to the bathroom at o-dark-thirty. That’s also now no working regularly.
This was all compounded yesterday with a power outage and some sort of weirdness based on when the route / WiFi point(s) / etc. came back on line. I’m going nutty with all the different bulbs and protocols which were all working fairly well until recently when EVERYTHING started having problems playing nice with EVERYTHING else.
Well, I deleted my rules and re-created them, more than a couple times, and low and behold, they’re working now! This is the smart plugs. I spent many hours trying to get them to work, and they finally are, but I still don’t know what I actually did to make them work this time. I was going to return them if they didn’t. Don’t understand why it’s so hard, but this is my 1st smart anything except my phone and TV.
I feel your pain. Sometimes it feels like I’d be better off with dumb bulbs! But I’m determined to get these working, and I now believe another 2.4 GHz wireless device I have might be at fault. I’ve asked support if there’s any way to check signal strength or collisions to each bulb to see if my theory has any merit.
My smart bulbs have been working fine since I made separate rules for on and off.
I agree …
Suffered for 3 months. Bulb disappeared, required reset and repairing multiple times. Then go off line again. I have a strong four node Google mesh WiFi with 2.4 and 5ghz, very fast and stable.
I’ve requested and RMA for$75 of bulbs… Love Wyze cameras, but the WiFi bulb was pushed to market prematurely…
Thank you for the comments and listening
That’s funny because that’s exactly what I started with. I thought by creating the updated style of rules with start and end times that I’d be better off, but I was definitely wrong about that!
Well I jinxed it. Neither one of my plugs worked again last night. Disappointed once again. Hoping they’ll “magically” work tonight again. I guess the so called “smart” technology is just not there yet At least not in this product. I slightly changed the schedules, hoping it’ll take and they’ll work again.
I don’t know if this is helpful, but we are using Alexa to control our Wyze bulbs (and Wyze cams as well). There haven’t been any issues so far (a couple of months).
I have had the same issue with both bulbs and smart plugs. I created a ticket asking for help. after asking for screenshots of the event logs (which showed the failures) Wyze responded with “we care” platitudes and told me the issue may be addressed on a future date.

As of the moment, we’re collecting more data and our developers are already working on a fix for this issue. To be honest, the solution to this will be in the form of an update on a future date. Rest assured we’re on top of this.
We appreciate your patience and understanding. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Best,

Not much of a help to address the issue. I’m going to try deleting the rules (again) and recreating them with separate on/off rules. Until then we all get to be Beta testers for the manufacturer.
It took enough time just setting up the plugs to finally work, although I have no idea what was done differently last time to make them work. Then, all the sudden, next night they’re not working again. Then the next night they ARE. I’ve spent too much time already, so I’m not sending screenshots, etc. They can test it themselves to get the screenshots. I’m waiting for the updates to fix the flakiness of these plugs. What’s confusing is that during setup, it says to independently turn Wi-Fi on in the settings for the plug, but wi-fi setting for the plug shows “Connected, no internet.” So I figured it’s connected and doesn’t need internet, but the damn setup still timed out. It’s soooo confusing. I finally got them to work…intermittently, that is, but not sure how, Waiting for that update…
Add me to the list with bulb Schedules not working. I installed 2 bulbs two days ago and they seemed to work. Yesterday I added two more bulbs and set up Rules/Schedules. Everything worked fine last night, but this evening the bulbs didn’t turn on. I manually turned on two of them.
My plugs are finally working the way they should EXCEPT on Saturday nights. The schedule is set to repeat every day of the week. I even re-set the schedule, but still won’t work on Saturday night. I’m bummed. Don’t know what to do. I love them when they work!
I m here reporting that my wyze bulb is not also following the rule that I set up consistently. It’s so annoying!!!
For all experiencing this issue, please submit a Support Request if you haven’t already. If the issue is something endemic to the app, firmware or servers, receiving support tickets is how Wyze will be prompted to investigate and root it out.
I could never get time based rules working myself. Tried with sensors, plugs, and a bulb. Now I just use device triggers tied to the sensor kit and shortcuts.
My routines are all working well. But then I remembered that the were set up they Alexa, not Wyze.
