We have a Wyze app for Android release today with a few small bug fixes.
Version 3.10.6.753
What’s new:
I got the new version. I’m crashing now. Android 17 (beta 1), Pixel 8a. I did reboot but didn’t uninstall/reinstall.
Will you post a log number for this? Hopefully we can get Jason to pass it on to the devs.
What do you think of Android 17 Beta 1? I haven’t done Android Betas in a couple of years, but I remember that it frequently broke functionality with lots of apps. Made me to too scared to do it again.
I can’t. The app crashes.
I can’t tell a big difference in it. Android 16 had some major changes in terms of security and hardening your device but overall… I’m not sure what features are the best.
I will pass it along even without the log since in a crashing instance you cannot get one. I will say that with OS betas we are unable to do a whole lot as they may break it as fast as we can fix it. Apple does this a lot, I have not run into it with Android much though.
I was good with Android 17 (beta 1) and build v3.11.0(b751).
The new (but older version number) build of v.3.10.6(b753) is not happy with 17.
Uninstalled / Reinstalled fixed the issue.
All good now.
I have reported this and they are looking into it.
Keep in mind there is a change in Android 17 Beta for developers which could be causing crashes.
“Android 17 is removing the ability for developers to opt out of resizability and orientation restrictions on large-screen devices like tablets, foldables, and desktop environments. This was started with API level 37 last year, but Android 17 is making it a firm requirement.‘

This may be dependent on what phone, model or resolution you have, but I noticed today that when I was changing the detection zone on my Duo cam doorbell, that when I try to save or hit the back arrow at the top, the actual triggering pixels do not line up with the text on the screen. Ipped the word save several dozen times and it wouldn’t work and wouldn’t save no matter what I did. Finally, I just started tapping all around that area, and found that it would save if I tapped diagonally to the text, below and to the left of the text. But if I tried tapping anywhere on the text at all, I could not save and the back button didn’t work at all either. It seems like it overlaps the status bar And that might be messing things up.
So again, this problem may not apply to every camera model, and it may not apply to every phone, or every resolution, but it is something to be aware of. At least on my pixel 10 Pro XL, the the save button and the back button at the top of the screen and the detection zone area don’t work if you try to click on them or too close to them. The actual triggering pixels are skewed diagonally to the bottom and left of the text. Weird.
