We are releasing firmware 4.51.2.0379 for the Wyze Video Doorbell v2 today. This fixes bugs that caused events not to record and videos to not be tagged. We are also releasing a hotfix for the 2.50 Wyze app.
Yeah, I wouldn’t generally consider advertising-wants to be worthy of an untested “hot fix,” particularly when they just sent out an email saying the 3.0 app is about to imminently launch sometime in July already. Though I guess if the upsell flow was preventing sales completing, that could be a big deal on Prime day when there are massive sales.
I guess it would be hard to do a 2.5beta test while a 3.0 beta test is ongoing already and it would too late to launch it publicly for prime day by then.
Still, funny to get a “hot fix” for marketing.
While 3.0 is coming out soon, we had to fix a few things on the 2.5 since some users will not be able to move up to 3.0 with the increased Android and iOS requirements. So they did a fix to some small issues on the 2.50 build.
My Doorbell V2, running this newest firmware,(4.51.2.0379) still loses wifi connection multiple times per day.
It will reconnect on a power cycle (turning it off and on again).
It doesn’t really matter that you’ve failed (again) to fix the notification issue when the doorbell won’t even stay connected to its network.
I’ve been told by “customer support” that they’re aware of this network problem and that a fix is coming. This firmware update was pushed out AFTER you were told by beta testers that it DID NOT fix the notification issue. Again, does it matter if the doorbell won’t stay connected?
I have lost faith in Wyze.
This doorbell is only slightly more useful than screwing a Lego brick to my house.
Any chance you’ll honor your warranty?
When the firmware updated a few days ago, the Doorbell V2 started recording events and notifications started working. I thought that was the end of the months long outage.
I am now on 4.51.2.0379. Now the camera is behaving poorly after running well for a few days.
The doorbell camera is in a device group. When opening all of the cameras in the device group, the doorbell initially connects, then says “The device is offline.” It will periodically reconnect for a second and then drop again in the iOS app. If I click on the camera (where it says “device is offline”) it takes me to a perfectly working live feed. I can even access the SD card data without issues from the app. The camera appears to be working even though it cannot be displayed within a device group.
Similarly, if I try to access my cameras from Wyze Web Live, this doorbell says “Device Offline.”
I am unable to use the iOS app to restart the camera. If I click on the restart button I just get a message that says, “Failed”.
It’s really odd that some parts of the app see the camera as offline and other parts of the app have no problems showing me a live feed or the SD card history.
I don’t think this is the golden firmware yet.
[Mod Note]:Your post was moved to this Wyze News firmware announcement topic for better visibility to Wyze.
Although I think this is a tongue-in-cheek comment, still I doubt a doorbell v3 anytime soon with the doorbell pro being available, even with the doorbell v2 being released many months after the pro.
Just installed the new 4.51.2.0578 beta on two doorbell v2 units and still have inconsistent doorbell press notifications. I am also using the just released final v3 of the Wyze app. Maybe it has to do with having two doorbells under one account/app? Do they test with an account that has multiple doorbells registered? The camera on each works fine, mechanical chime works fine, no connection issues, etc… it is just the notifications that are inconsistent for both of my doorbells.
That’s frustrating to read that notifications are still an issue, but I appreciate your posting the feedback, and I think you’re asking good questions.
