Everything is working great for us. Thanks Wyze.
Installed app update on 3/26/2025, but camera not recording (or app not showing) recent events. Event recording stopped at about 11 am on 3/26/2025. Prior events can still be viewed on app. Anyone suggestions to fix?
Have you tried clearing out the app caches and/or grabbing a fresh copy of your settings in case the app data on your phone got hosed during the update?
Note: I don’t know what the options would be for modifying these steps on iOS since I don’t use that platform.
That’s probably what I’d try first. In the past some funky issues have been reported with Wyze app updates, and sometimes just completely uninstalling and reinstalling the app fixes those. If I was going to go that far, then I’d also consider going as far as uninstall, then reboot, then install, then reboot.
Welcome to the Forum, @mark20171!
I’m just being devil’s advocate here (or maybe not), I’ve always wondered why some people have to jump through all of these hoops, where none of the other apps need all of this circus. All of the apps I have and come across just update properly. None of them need any reboots, cache cleaning or woodoo magic to upgrade. Can Wyze provide once and for all a proper upgrade path?
I followed your linked instructions. Thanks. I now realize that the recent events are shown for the wrong camera. I have two cameras - a doorbell camera and an interior camera. I can see the events for the inside camera, but not the doorbell camera. I want events for the doorbell camera. When I switch cameras on the events page, it shows no events for the doorbell camera. I have the Cam Plus service. When I go to Account/Services/Cam Plus/Manage Camera, the box for the doorbell camera is checked and the box for the interior camera is not checked. I can’t figure out how to get Cam Plus to record the events on the doorbell camera instead of the interior camera. (I also tried restarting both the doorbell camera and the services, but it didn’t help.)
Have you tried going on to the web site and select the cameras there on your account? I have a feeling that your doorbell camera is not associated to the Cam Plus service. I find account services through the app to be really unreliable.
I don’t have an explanation for that or an answer for your question, but this is one of those things that has seemed to occasionally affect some Android users (I haven’t seen it reported for iOS). I don’t know why it happens, but at least the process for clearing out old data on Android is fairly straightforward.
Just yesterday I was testing an issue where I forced (in the Internet gateway) a particular IP address on a Cam v4; however, the app continued to report the previous address even after the camera was restarted from the app. I navigated to Account ➜ App Settings ➜ Cache File Size ➜ Clear and then back to the camera’s Device Info screen, and it continued to show the previous IP address, even after another restart. I then opened the app’s App info screen in order to Force stop and then Clear cache, and then when I navigated back to the camera’s Device Info, the app finally showed the correct (new) IP address for that camera. Apparently the Android app sometimes likes to cling to outdated data.
I agree with trying to manage subscriptions via a browser at Wyze Services. It’s mildly maddening that trying to Manage Subscription within the app returns a failure message: “Web plans can’t be managed in the Wyze app.” I don’t know if that’s also the case for the iOS app, but in the Android app I suspect that it has something to do with the fee Google assesses for app purchases made via Google Play Store, so in order for subscriptions to be managed in the app, they likely also have to be purchased via the app. That does not lend itself to a seamless user experience, and I imagine similar things happen on the iOS side.
I s’pose I should stop rambling and say that this update seems to be working about as well as expected for me.
I wasn’t expecting an answer from you, it was more of a rhetorical question
Yeah, I’ve seen that happen on iOS as well. I think the app is kind of sluggish to report the newly assigned IP address for some reason.
Yes it is.
No rambling, it’s all informative and for the good of the community.
Fair enough. The reply was directed at me, so I felt somewhat compelled to answer.
Oh, I ramble plenty, and I hope that at least some of it does some good for someone!
Update - Cam Plus finally starting recording events for the doorbell camera instead of the indoor camera last night. I don’t know why. I followed Crease’s suggestions (without re-installing the app), messed around with some other stuff in the app, and restarted the phone several times. Then I left it alone for several hours. When I looked at it again, the problem was fixed. One other thing that I noticed - after the app update, all types of events were included in recent events even though I only wanted people, pets and packages and they were the only boxes checked in Smart Detection. I cleared all the boxes and rechecked the right boxes, and it started working right.
Great post.
