Okay so maybe I exaggerated a bit. But no worse than how Wyze has exaggerated how great their AI and products are. They have constantly falsely advertised what their stuff can do. Even blatantly use product pictures that just weren’t true.
Look, I really do want this company to succeed but they won’t if they keep going down this road. They need to hire talented programmers and fix their software. And also take a bit more time designing new products, especially in the testing area.
And for the love of God do stop releasing software updates that haven’t been thoroughly tested. Their customers shouldn’t be beta testers and find things that they should have easily discovered. And most of all, fix bugs quickly!
Oh yeah, good point. I guess that counts. It’s more of a minor accessory to me though (one they promised us as soon as the Pan V3 launched, as though it was meant as part of the Pan V3 (since we couldn’t really use other 3rd party cords with it, but might need longer ones), but could be used for any camera), rather than as being a major product launch of it’s own that takes a lot of R&D, testing, and lots of resources.
To that end, there are posts (on Reddit, & Discord) showing that Wyze also seems to have replaced the Wyze Bulb Color with a V2 version that is almost identical, and they replaced the Outdoor rated adapter/cord with one that includes an adapter for Pan v3, and the solar panel now includes an adapter for the Battery Cam Pro. I think they officially started offering some replacement parts this year. But, again, I see the little accessory things and replacement parts as kind of still part of the main products in a way.
But if we count all the minor launches of accessories like plugs, cords, stack kits, adapters, and replacement parts, then they certainly had a lot more product launches, albeit, they are all things that didn’t take much R&D or resources, so it’s still way less of a resource diversion than was going on in 2021-2022, which is the main thing I was thinking.
Thanks for reminding me there was more activity though. I knew I must’ve been overlooking something. I think you figured out what it was nagging at the back of my mind.
