Wise 3V pan

I bought four of the Wyze 3V cameras at first they seem to be awesome one out of four works properly. I was having issues with them not turning the right direction. Finally I stuck one in my office and just froze it in position so I would not need it to turn. I’ve got one outside right now that keeps turning and looking at the wall and freezing in place. I think if they create a dome style camera where everything is encased in a protective dome, it might work better. I’m on vacation now and my cameras are not helping me because they’re looking at the wall when I get back home I will bring them back and try a different product.

@buck3869- Did you establish the home point and/or create waypoints for the cam pan v3’s? Are they mounted with the included brackets? It almost appears that when you placed the cams, you didn’t consider the orientation of the cams once they rotated to auto home point. I may stand corrected and please do so.

To echo what @fmills1d said you need to make sure you have it mounted right so that center is looking out. The cam can’t turn perpetually, it has stops so you want it centered between the stops. Easiest way to do this is probably factory reset, but you can also turn it stop to stop and find the approximate center.

While I could see one cam possibly having a defect 3 out of 4 seems unlikely.

Note that when you have track motion enabled, sometimes it will get confused, especially when the IR lights are on. Mine will look at its reflection off a white wall sometimes but then turns back after 5 to 10 seconds like any other motion.

The mentions of making sure the Cams are mounted correctly and wanting to get Cams looking at set positions make me think of two things:

  1. If mounting on or adjacent to a wall, you probably want to make sure the power cable comes out of the Cam’s base and extends toward the wall so that you’re using that as an index point (~0°/360°) where facing directly away from the wall would be the 180° pan location.
  2. I’d really like to see Wyze extend what they’ve done with Waypoints on Cam Pan v4 backward as an update for Cam Pan v3. When Cam Pan v4 was first released, there were a lot of complaints about the requirement for a Home Waypoint, but since then Wyze has issued app and firmware updates that make this optional and allow a user to assign “Home” to any Waypoint—it no longer has to be #1.
