To the best of my knowledge I have never opted in (and wherever possible have opted out) of receiving marketing emails. So why is somebody called Alex sending me spam emails offering me discounted annual subscription? Notably with no option to unsubscribe.
If I want a yearly subscription I’ll apply for one. If you send me any more spam I’ll cancel all my subscriptions.
Here you go. I tested the link and it ends up at wyze.com
Two emails in two days. No way to unsubscribe no way to reply (it comes back as unmonitored email address. It’s clearly a Wyze markweting drive too, as when you click the link it immediately tries to get you to confirm that you want to take up the “special offer”.
My email client (I happen to have Thunderbird), and I think most others have a way of blocking any incoming email message with a particular extension. I think that when I blocked what you’re talking about, it was something like “marketing” at Wyze .com. Since I still want to get emails from Wyze, I specifically blocked that complete spelling of the email address - not just the wyze.com one. Google the name of your email client (like gmail, etc.,), asking how to block a specific sender from (gmail). I’ll bet you’ll get your answer - even if it requires to block a sender with the name, “Alex”.
I know how to block things thanks. My point is, I shouldn’t have to. Wyze is a reputable company who are obviously well aware of email etiquette. That email, and the one before it, was unsolicited, With no option to unsubscribe and no way to reply.
It’s spam pure and simple, and Wyze should know better.
If it turns out that the email didn’t originate from Wyze I’ll apologise.
I haven’t submitted any tickets. The original email (which was actually 3 days ago not yesterday, so my apologies for the exaggeration) said:
" Thanks for being a fan of Wyze Labs. You’ve been with us for quite a while and I’m hoping you have plans to use Wyze for the next year.
Just wanted to let you know that you can get 4 free months on your subscription by upgrading to an annual plan ($59.96). Just click here and we’ll take care of the rest.
I’m going to send this up to someone higher in Wyze to look into this. We’ve now had 2 people mention that an “Alex from Wyze” is contacting them about upgrading services. I’ll have this looked into.
Jason is not currently available (he’ll see it when he gets back), but we’ll get someone on it now anyway.
@Jimikuk
I have been able to verify that these are legitimate emails from Wyze. I did bring to their attention that you are getting them when unsubscribed to everything and that there is no way to unsubscribe from the email. They are checking on this and also looking to make it more clear that it is coming from Wyze. Thank you for reporting this and I apologize for the repeated emails.
That link showed up because carver posted this thread in the other thread. The forum does not link stuff automatically. Thx for posting it clearer though
Yep, you are both right. Whenever you copy a link from a topic or a post into a different thread, it will automatically show the linked topic under the original post. Link a topic URL and the first post gets the link.
The Why the Spam thread is actually linked twice. Once by me on the Topic at the top and once by @carverofchoice on @WyzeJasonJ’s post lower down.
