Why are all my V4s "offline"?

I have 16 different Wyze cameras, from OGs to CamPan, to Window Cam, etc. For some reason, all of my V4s are all offline (4.52.9.6119 firmwear) and nothing I do will get them back up. I’ve restarted them, unplugged them, even left them unplugged for several hours before trying again, and nothing. Well, one of them started working again, but didn’t last long. One thing I noticed during my troubleshooting was that every one of the cameras had an error in their MicroSD cards and had to be repaired/reformatted. I deleted one and then tried to add it back, but it will not connect to my network. It starts connecting, the progress says “connecting…” and there is a green check mark by “Connected to Wyze Cloud” but that is as far as it will go. The camera says, “Cannot connect to local network” and the app eventually times out. I hard reset the camera and removed it from my app before trying to re-add it.

I typically use the app on my Google Pixle 7 Pro, but I also use the app on my Ipad, neither one shows the V4s as connected.

Was there a recent V4 update that maybe caused this? What else can I try if a hard reset won’t even work???

Nothing recent added to the V4 Cams, I have five and they all are and have been in operation without disruption. I know there are some post here about cameras showing as being turned off after an app update,

What is your app version? and is your phone a 32 bit OS?

I don’t know if this’ll help anyone, but yesterday I noticed that one of my Cam v4s was unresponsive in the app, as in I couldn’t connect at all. That Cam is in a storage room where one of its functions is to control lights via two Lamp Socket v2s, and that wasn’t working, either. Power cycling didn’t help, nor did re-adding the Lamp Socket v2 that was acting up (the one supplying power to the Cam v4). I was seeing issues with other non-Wyze devices on my network, so my eventual solution was to reboot the fiber ONT, then reboot the main router, then reboot the satellites, then re-add the device in the app. That finally got things working as expected.

One weirdness I’m noticing today is that, usually when I re-add something that’s gone wonky with connectivity or if I’m testing something, once I get to the screen that wants me to name the device, I just abort by swipe-closing the app. When I re-launch the app, I then see the device with the name I’d originally given it and settings intact. In this case, what I’m seeing today is that the device is called “Wyze Cam V4” (capital “V”, which seems even more weird), and I didn’t name it that. I don’t have an explanation for this observation, but I’ll rename it to how I’d labeled it before.

I think the question about the app version is fair, and in my case I’m using Android production app v3.14.0.807 and the Cam v4 is on firmware 4.52.9.6119, as are all my Cam v4s. I can’t speak to the iPad experience, but my Google Pixel 6 runs Android 16, which is 64-bit only AFAIK, and I’d expect a Pixel 7 Pro to be running that.

Thanks for the insights. What I ended up doing was unplugging my router for an hour and unplugging all the cameras. I plugged the router back in and then plugged in each camera, with a couple of minutes delay between each one. That seemed to work, because everything is back online now. The one I was trying to re-add, added right away, with no issues.

App version is v3.14.0 (807)

Not sure about the OS. How do I figure that out?

If you’re running the 3.14 app then you have a 64 bit OS so all good there.

Sounds like your router froze up, often the DHCP server (what assigns IPs) is the module that stops responding but it could be other things too. Generally with wifi connectivity issues, rebooting the router is a good troubleshooting step. Leaving it off for an hour shouldn’t be necessary. If you have a separate modem, can’t hurt to reboot that too.

As far as the SD cards being corrupted, I’m curious how you knew that before you got the cams online? Maybe just an app glitch because it could not communicate? Or if they were really corrupted, I can think of one of two things.

-You had a power blip or surge which both locked up your router and corrupted the cards. If the cards are set to continuous recording and are interrupted, that can cause corruption. Usually a format fixes them, but it is possible for a power problem to permanently damage them too.

-They actually died gradually over time and you just now noticed, though I’m guessing you probably access them on a semi regular basis, so less likely.

I have pretty reliable power so I haven’t seen the need to put my cams on battery backup, but all my internet gear is (along with my PC and some other stuff). It is a good investment.

I have a few off line as well as of yesterday. Back on line last night but off again now. ??

Wyze and their quality  services and cameras

I took the cards out of the cameras and put them in my laptop. Each one alerted me to an error as soon as I plugged it in and asked if I wanted to fix it. I ran the disc fix and was then able to see the recorded info.

That’s not uncommon if the card has ever been not “safely ejected”. I.e. the cam lost power while recording, or you pulled the card without doing the “eject” in the app. Windows is very sensitive to that. The cam may still have been seeing and recording to the cards fine.

All it takes is a single power outage to cause that on multiple cards, but usually it doesn’t actually case a major issue, as the cams don’t care quite as much about the file system being perfect.

Likely not related to your router issue at all.

Watch it Bryon. Big Brother is Wyze to you.

Soon you’ll be “watching” more Wyze V3’s when I have time to pull them for you Bob :winking_face_with_tongue:

Same issue with all of my v4’s . The older cameras are great. I cannot get to one of my to troubleshoot since it is mounted on the house. Seems like a Wyze effup to me.
