Whats going on with the Wyze network?!

Man Wyze has sucked lately. When these cameras work their great. But too many issues with all my Wyze cameras lately. Many times the live view doesn’t work and never loads or plays back laggy. Never loads and only get the refresh icon. Sometimes error code message, but a search doeseven show what the error code is. I have 1G fiber connection and my router is good. No issues with wifi connection anywhere around my property so I’m 99.9% sure its not my ISP or router. Happens to all my Wyze cameras even if they are close or further away from the router. V3, V4, OG Pan, Flood Light Pro, and Floodlight V1 all same issue. Whats the point of having these cameras when half the time I cannot view the footage.

Its like the Wyze cloud is struggling amd having issues?

Im using a Samsung S24 Ultra phone with UI7

I just want to take a hammer and smash all these Wyze cameras when they don’t work lol

No outages:

Mine aren’t having issues.
Like you, I have 1GBPS Fiber, and a Ubiquiti UniFi router system. I have all of those camera models you listed. I have at least 60 cameras running on my network.

My monthly usage is pretty insane and my cameras are all still going strong:
image
Wyze cam 30 days usage:
Down 84.0 GB
Up: 2.82 TB
Total: 2.91 TB

137-148 devices connected at all times to the network (technically have more than that, but some don’t connect every day)

I am using a Google Pixel 9 Pro.

It looks like most people aren’t reporting outages and I checked my ~60 Wyze cameras are working okay.

There are certainly a lot of other things that could be involved.

I once documented a lot of the things I tested back in the days when I had some connectivity problems. You might consider reviewing some of these. It is a little long though.

Is this happening on your LAN (same wifi as the cams)? If so that is your wireless network having issues, nothing cloud related. This will extend to using it offsite on a different network too as if the cams can’t get a good connection to the wifi, that will impact remote viewing too.

I have found that the performance depends on the type of router and how it handles uploads and downloads. In the past, I have had issues where all of my cameras were engaged and recording because of yard work. This seemed to tax my network and sporadically allowed me to connect. When the work was done, all went back to normal.

I have changed routers since then and things seem to be a lot better.

I have the same issues. Getting an error when I try to delete old video clips, videos that I want to view will not load or very delayed loading.
Error code I get: Failed, code: -1001

All is working for me with Cam plus Unlimited.

Will be on Cam plus lite after 29th as I cancelled unlimited.

Will see how that goes for the Cam plus lite soon…

That’s a totally different issue from what OP reported.

I have same issues Tony. Very frustrating & not what ’Im paying for (or guess it is as it’s what I’m getting)!
Everything goes thru their servers b4 it gets back to us. They are cloud based, not IP cams. Perhaps they need to upgrade to more\faster servers. I’ve even put wired routers rite next to 4 cams in 1 area, & a extender next to 4 others. When they have connection issues, they seem to happen at the same time.

This IS wyze network issue! I do have good Internet & cam plus sub.

Not true, live stream and SD card playback go direct if you are on the same wifi network as the cams. The server is only there for the authentication to confirm you’re authorized to view the cam. All my cams have been working fine since the original post in this thread.

Most of the time when people have issues with connectivity it is their wifi or their router (especially ISP supplied routers which can be particularly problematic).

I use Xfinity XB7 modem & pods. I have had a number of issues in past month on Rogers with Shaw network. There appears to be no way to know when they rollout updates.
I had separate Orbi network but had to remove it for … reasons so now just on providers wifi.

What modem & wifi are you using.

Using Netspot Pro, I mapped my house for my network. I am in quiet residential single family home neighborhood so 8 houses around me (3 behind, 1 each side, and 3 across street.

Once the mapping is finished, there is the ability to look at the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks separately. There was also an ability to look at other networks that are in the neighbourhood that may provide interference.

150 networks? In a quiet neighborhood.

And I worry about the wire mesh in stucco in my exterior and interior wall… :slightly_smiling_face:

Netspot reply to my query about 150 networks is in screenshot below.

So when I wonder about complaining about my … Wyze cams … I now have a slightly different perspective as there is lots of networks, etc. potentially that can interfere.

Sidebar I have 120+ IOT connected devices in my home including the Wyze devices. Most of the IOT devices use very little bandwidth (plugs, lights, sensors, blinds, AC, sprinklers, air cleaners, alexa, google home, Sonos) except for Wyze & Nest cams primarily for upload and 3 TVs usually used 1 at a time & 2 of 10 computer related devices when they’re in use.

If I really want high-speed access, then I need to switch from Wyze cams to ethernet directly attached cams or similar.
However, what I do get from the Wyze cams is in general 99% of the time more than adequate.

:slightly_smiling_face:

I was wondering what Dave, Dongsheng, Yun, Elana and Wyze engineers / programmers have for a count of IOT devices in their homes.:slightly_smiling_face:

Surprise to me, ‘Rogers with Shaw’ think I have a lot of devices.
I actually didn’t think it was that many for a 2025 Smart home.

XB7 is notorious. Disabling “advanced security” in your account may help, but putting it in bridge mode and using your own router will solve/prevent a lot of issues.

Agreed, I ran my separate network for quite a few years.
Unfortunately, now due to … circumstance, I’ve got to stick with what’s available from the provider.

In general, it’s adequate.
One thing I do with the XB7 network, if I ever have to restart XB7, I wait about 3 hours for pods to stabilize at least partially & then I do a restart on all my cams with an automation. This seems to get most of the cams reconnected to their closest pod once pods ‘stabilize’ after restart.

WiFi network channel congestion in my area :joy:

All 3 are mine

So no excuses for Wyze with channel congestion, it’s just Wyze’s servers. All other IOT runs just fine as does Reolink cams. But Wyze on the other hand just unreliable :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

I have lost all notifications of movement/sound for my father on the 2 cam pan v3’s and used to get them. I am not sure if it was the update or what but went through all the steps and finally called, sat for 30 min. & the tech team went through everything & then made me submit a log & some other dept looked over my submitted log & TODAY they tell me a LOT of people are having issues and it is THEIR APP and can’t help me.

So, making sure you know, I was told on the phone by them exactly that-so there IS something- not that it makes it better, but you are not alone

See my reply to your other post.
