Is there anyone else with nothing but error codes (-20006, 43) popping up on the wyze app main page instead of live views? I have latest Android, wife has ios. When I click on a camera I have to wait for 2-3 tries to connect to a camera IF it connects at all. Event view is empty until I try to reload a couple times. I have V2, V3 cameras, the old and the new outdoor cameras and just nothing works appropriately any more. While I still hate my 400$ Nest camera, wyze stopped being the cool Nest/Google home alternative and I refuse to pay 100 per year for bugs. I just cancelled my subscription, will look into alternatives just like I did with Nest. Shame.
I’m sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Wyze cameras. If you are having issues with all your cameras and both Android and iOS devices, that tells me that you are having connection issues. Personally I would do a network audit before I do anything else.
In any case, all the best.
Look at Reolink cameras!
I am very happy with my bug free 4k Reolink’s
Have you checked the last time your ISP updated your router? modem? Switches?
Often this has been the issue for me as well as Neighbours changing their wifi networks / devices which impact mine sometimes.
Generally I’ve found with posts like these, attempting to use common sense is pointless. If someone has tried two brands (at least) and had issues with both, but their next step is to try a 3rd brand rather than sort out their network issues, not much point in trying to convince them otherwise.
So I just had a look at Reolink. Looks quite interesting. I may try one.
Likewise, they have some good and very good reviews
and also some with considerable concerns.
So not much different than Wyze, I guess.
I AM managing my network and router. As far as common sense goes I never said I’m having network related issue with Nest. I have issue with their level of service vs price. So your common sense comment is invalid.
Completely different than the Wyze ecosystem.
Some people have difficulty with setting up any tech.
I will say this about Reolink cameras, you better have WiFi 5, 6 or 7 for best results on the WiFi cams.
Reolink is camera based (and or NVR, NAS, Etc…) Not Cloud based so essentially you take the place of the AWS and Cloud compared to Wyze.
Reolink does provide the end to end encryption between you and the camera while using remotely off your local network.
It can run without the need for Internet if the use case has no internet, obviously only local access
I was referring to reviews, not the cameras as I am not familiar with them beyond what I’ve read and what you have advertised here
This is accurate, I’ve browsed around Reolink forums too and almost any complaint you can find in here about Wyze from users, you will find in there about Reolink too.
The main benefit of Reolink is that for a much, much higher price you can get RTSP, and they also have some PoE cams. But they still have plenty of people complaining about SD card issues, streaming issues, reliability, things not working for them out of the box, bad customer service experiences (including getting no help at all, hard to resolve any issues, email is the only option, etc), poor performance, software issues, crashes, difficulty setting them up, lack of compatibility, warranty and returns are really hard to do, orders being incorrect.
Pretty much any complaint you can find about Wyze somewhere, you will see identical complaints with Reolink too. I wouldn’t be surprised if they even use a lot of the same suppliers. Like I said, the main difference seems to be that they offer RTSP and PoE with local only solutions but double the price or more. I LOVE that they over RTSP and local only options though. That is what really tempts me to try one some day when there is a sale. I’m sure I would have no problems with Reolink since I also don’t have connectivity issues with Wyze either. I’m just debating if paying exponential prices for close to the same thing is worth the cost when I still already have RTSP on all my Wyze cams anyway. And most people don’t need or care for RTSP or PoE…they’re more niche requirements that the majority of users don’t care about, so the extra cost isn’t usually worth it for the average consumer.
I would still rank Reolink as one of the top 5 Wyze competitors, but I’d say their exponential price keeps them being a huge threat at the moment for Wyze’s main market target.
I think they are a great alternative for people in some areas with internet upload bandwidth issues though. Since they can run locally, it won’t matter if the internet is terrible. They just need to maintain a decent router and they’re golden.
Well you’re having connectivity issues, so spending more money on another brand that is likely to be affected by those same connectivity issues is not common sense.
Does this happen on Wifi and Over The Air (OTA)?
They need to regenerate that guy with the latest AI.
