View On PC/Browser (Windows / Mac / Chromebook)

I believe they said they will be using the Amazon App Store also and currently there is no Wyze app on Amazon

I hope they support sideloading. But I don’t care enough to check.

Also, Win10 was presented as a permanent version of Windows. I trust they won’t be trying to charge users and businesses for the “new” Windows 11 that was never supposed to exist.

When I go to view playback to record an event from my sd card which is longer than the 12 seconds it pops up a page to pay for Wyze plus.

The only 2 ways I know to get the file if to use the phones screen recorder, or to pop the card out and copy it over to my pc.

Also worth noting a year or so ago you could highlight the recorded area to save and let it process over to your phones sd card with out have to hit record and wait the entire length. Not sure why they made this change. Until recently I had to hit record within the app and wait the said time for given event to complete before hitting it again. I was super frustrated with that but at least it was there. Now I get a pop up for cam plus if I try to use the apps record function.

Overall I am very upset with how Wyze has become so greedy and puts everything in this unnecessary alacart bs that have never existed in the first place.

I went from loving this company and thinking they were awesome to now I totally hate them.

All these tech companies reneg on their words. Just look at how much wyze renegged. None of them have honor.

Well, based on the obvious decisions that they have made I think that it reeks of greed. It would behoove them to rethink their approach.

I don’t pretend to understand their logic of advertising one thing as a start up and then switching everythiing around once they become established. No firm long-term goal except to increase their bottom line profit.

Of all the things that I’ve seen that need correcting the most blatant of all is their support.

Some people arguably have received good support from the Wyze Eco structure, but I think in the bigger picture most people are left wanting…

I really had high expectations for this company when they started but now I feel lucky to just have a few of my cameras working correctly it doesn’t seem like the hardware fails as much as the firmware

Their business plan is a prime example of the bleed that never stops

It’s the overwhelming evidence of a deaf ear that is the most disappointing to me

I have been wondering that since they announced it

I read that today that you will be able to upgrade for free starting in the end of 2021 through 2022

Yeah, Microsoft announced that anyone with Windows 10 can upgrade to Windows 11 for free by this Holiday season if their computer is compatible with it. The struggle is whether your hardware is compatible.

image

Minimum requirements:

  • 64-bit CPU,
    • Windows 11 will only officially support 8th Gen and newer Intel Core processors, alongside Apollo Lake and newer Pentium and Celeron processors. & AMD Ryzen 2000 and newer processors, and 2nd Gen or newer EPYC chips. Older devices that aren’t officially supported will be met with a warning during the Windows 11 install that the upgrade is not recommended, but the OS should still install.
  • 4GB of RAM
  • 64GB of storage
  • TPM (Trusted Platform Module) capable of at least 1.2 support…maybe 2.0, and UEFI Secure Boot

Some people will fail the compatibility check because although they have TPM, they don’t have it enabled and it’s more complicated than most people are capable of to go manually enable it…but in theory a lot of “incompatible” devices can supposedly be made to work and become “Compatible” if a technically capable person enables the TPM.

What is concerning is that they promised everyone that Windows 10 would be the last windows, and while it works out in some ways that Windows 11 will be a free upgrade, the issue remains that some computers cannot upgrade to it, and Microsoft is still going to stop providing updates for Windows 10 in a few years, which means they’re basically forcing all those otherwise fine working devices to become security risks and obsolete, thus still forcing people to upgrade devices which they previously promised would never have to be upgraded again.

Nice to know, I think most the computers I have running will pass, not sure of the others that don’t run as much

Yeah, just don’t be too surprised if you run a compatibility check and get told it’s not compatible. Apparently that’s happening a lot. I read a bunch of articles of people looking up how to enable the TPM on the device and then getting it to work after doing that for some of them, though some of their computers were still incompatible. Mine said it was incompatible, but I haven’t tried enabling the TPM yet.

“We have committed to supporting Windows 10 through October 14, 2025.”

From: Upgrade to the New Windows 11 OS | Microsoft

Yes, but ending support in 2025 (a few years) is a HUGE DIFFERENCE and backtrack from their original promise to people that Windows 10 support would continue basically indefinitely and people would never need to buy another Windows OS again. So, you go from a promise of a lifetime use to suddenly having it no longer secure and practically usable in just 4 more years…many devices that could continue for a long while yet will be headed to become scraps (though a lot of linux people will scoop them up to use for things like cheap and awesome Home Assistant servers!

Agree 100%. Was just posting what M$ has committed to doing. For me it means I’ll be ‘at risk’ because my newest machine will not support Win 11 - or I’ll be laying out a lot of money to replicate my current environment.

Gotta love corporate greed and commitment to their customers.

Well that kind of reveals where Wyze got its business plan

And yet this blatant false advertising still won’t deter most of us from continuing to use Windows.

It’s good to be the owner of a near monopoly ain’t it.

(Truly stupid part is this is simply yet ANOTHER mildly different shell on the same boring old 30 year Windows code base. There is no need for a new version.)

Yeah, when the overall stock market and financial health of the world/country, etc is primarily determined based off 5 companies, and your company is one of those 5, then I’d say it’s pretty safe to call it a monopoly even if other options technically exist.

  1. Apple
  2. Microsoft
  3. Alphabet/Google
  4. Amazon
  5. Facebook

Those are all pretty solidly in the monopoly category if you historically go off the stock market…though at least we KIND OF have some limited freedom against then…unlike some places with cable internet provider limits.

Still, none of them have reached the level of the historical big dogs like the East India Trading Company…yet.

The one that really doesn’t deserve to be in that list is Facebook. They have never developed or contributed ANYTHING. A faux-exclusive bulletin board system that requires real names. I will never understand the success of that one.

Sideloading on Win11 mostly confirmed.
