Yeah, the origins of Facebook are pretty horrendous, but all the college kids kept their accounts and it just spread. It is a little crazy, but social media pickings have been pretty terrible, which is why I come to this forum here instead of any of those other options (I haven’t used Facebook for well over a decade now).
I think decentralized social media is coming and Facebook will mostly collapse ala Myspace. Maybe it’s even the new decentralized Bluesky initiative that finally does them in. Or other Web 3.0 stuff. I do look forward to a decentralized initiative that no monopoly controls, but instead everything is simply decided by the individual and their own personal privacy and filtering options.
But if we’re going by income, Facebook slaughters everyone else.
I expect that’s the way all IOT and Smart home stuff is going to go too, mostly decentralized. That’s why I think it would be wise of Wyze to choose and support protocols that primarily allow them to not be reliant on their own servers except as some kind of extra service, like their AI processing…but to make things like this view on PC/Browser work basically like the app or Google Hubs where the cam and the computer would connect directly like with WebRTC or whatever. If they want to stay relevant long term in the extended future, they should prepare for this eventuality. Allow their systems to be compatible with Smart things, Home Assistant, accessing streams through a browser, all sorts of things like that. Keeping certain things as a subscription makes sense still. Some people will want their videos stored on the cloud for them in a simple way, and an advanced AI to process everything for them. There will be services in demand for a long time, but streaming from your browser as asked for here should be mostly decentralized local connection, free and widely available IMO…but who knows, maybe we’ll be surprised what’s all included in it. We don’t have the details yet.
Nice hope but I don’t see evidence of that change coming any time soon. People continue to flock from one centralized resource to another (most owned either by Facebook or China).
There was a brief period during which it was feasible for IM and forums to become decentralized, when there were multiple ISPs and each had its own e-mail and newsgroup servers – adding @myisp social presence would have made sense. But they all dumped even their mail services in favor of “free” MSN and GMail accounts.
Harbor, I’ve come to the conclusion after many years of contemplation that you have two choices in life one is to be relevant and the other is to be historical
My guess is that you will get whatever version you have a license for. If you want W11 Pro you will need W10 Pro, but if you have W10 Home, then your upgrade will just be W11 Home. I will try to look into it, but that seems logical and reasonable to me.
Edit: I have searched fairly thoroughly here. I don’t believe anything about any kind of “pro requirement” being known publicly. Microsoft has not given any publicly announced limitations about this as far as I can find…but I am certainly openminded and willing to review any references or citations indicating otherwise.
It’s a crapshow and wholly unnecessary. So many companies are only now finally getting completely off Windows 7. Who in their right mind thinks naming this Windows 11 makes it a significant upgrade and one worth ignoring Microsoft’s pledge that Win10 would be the last version of Windows they would create.
As far as the windows issue is concerned , I’m just going sit back wait and see what floats to the top, it’s not coming out till the end of the year or somewhere around there.
Maybe we could get back on subject
To be honest the Windows issue is a non-issue, I don’t think anyone here really wants to run a damn Android app just to be able to run a flawed app.
Yes I agree, this thread is not about Windows or Android, or emulators. We need to either get the stream to a web browser, for free, or come together to find a solution that allows multiple streams to a browser.
It would be great if I could monitor/ use my multiple v3 Wyze cameras on a PC directly or thru an application, or maybe a wyze software package that can be downloaded.
Reason would be to be able to see a large monitor with a cam on it. Best avaliable now is iPad. Need larger due to age and poor eyesight conditions for the elderly.
Would be great to be able to add your cameras on my internal wifi to the pc on the same network.
