V4 cameras max of two only, other 2 offline after 5332 update

Hello, been a Wyze user for 6 or 7 years now and have set up a few systems for friends and relatives. Last July I drove 3 hours to my Aunt’s and replaced her Arlo system with 6 V4 cameras. She manages her system with her PC and iPhone via the Unlimited Plan. All has been fine for 6 months until my Aunt’s does a Firmware upgrade!! She upgraded all 6 of her V4 cameras to Firmware 4.52.9.5332, and Plug In Version 3.9.0.15. Now all cameras work but only when 4 at a time??? The V4s are 2 and 3 bars, if you unplug 1 of the 4 working cameras the 5th offline camera suddenly becomes part of the 4 working cameras. If you try to access one of the two cameras it will disconnectone of the other online cameras and connect. I got her to share her cameras with me the same thing happens, but my 15 plua cameras are fine after the update. Plug in a 5th camera and 1 of the 4 and it will not come on line until you unplug 1 of the 4 cameras? She has decent wifi signal, GIG internet, and Wyze is blaming her modem and wifi. She called her Provider and everything is fine and hasn’t changed for 6 months… All other wifi devices are fine. Thoughts? Thank you.

What do you mean by going offline, like they disconnect from wifi, the live view won’t come up, or the app shows them offline even though the router sees them?

Is she running the latest app version?

Has she tried power cycling the router and all cams? Wondering if somehow the router has ended up assigning conflicting IPs or something.

I think the V4 firmware has the same bug as the latest beta version for V3 has. I reported in this thread. It can’t sustain more than 4 camera stream simultaneously.

Very odd, you’d think that would be an app limitation but maybe it is something to do with the new security/VerifiedView and the wyze servers.

Although you and OP both have iOS so maybe that explains it :stuck_out_tongue:

Ha, ha, ha very funny

Some time ago there was a similar issue, can’t remember what was the cause but Wyze fixed it. Hope they do it again pretty soon.

Actually my aunt runs IOS I run android. I can run numerous camera feeds ten V3s, four V4s feeds from my place, when I add her cameras via shared feature it acts just like her app. No more than four V4s from her place at a time, mine cameras all can be viewed have no limitations, only her cameras are limited. Four cameras max, if I access the 5th or 6th, one of the original four cameras gets bumped from viewing, never going past 4 cameras being viewed, the other two just keep teying to load before saying offline. They other two only can be viewed when another one drops.

I’m nervous about getting involved again with what I consider the v4 debacle. Last month I spent hours testing, reflashing, troubleshooting what I considered the best cam Wyze had. Finally found stability with production firmware. My 5-v4’s have been stable for a few weeks. Now b5332 firmware comes out and with it issues.

I will confirm there is an issue with the v4 especially when in a group. I refer back to what I call my litmus test. I’ve a group where the cameras cycle through the perimeter of the property and the common area of the interior. There are 11 cameras (v3pro, doorbell v2, 3-WBCP, 2-CP v3, 2-cam v4, CP v4) in the group. When I start the group I wait for each camera to show a live image before I scroll down to the next camera. On a good day the last image, camera 11, takes 22 seconds. On a bad day, 40 seconds. During this there are no bouncing balls, error messages or stuck responses. I run this test at least once a day. If there is a problem on with my cameras this test helps expose it.

With this release the 2-v4’s in this group get stuck. After a minute of waiting the 2-v4’s finally respond. This is repeatable (50+). In the screenshot below you can see the top and bottom images are stuck. Those are v4’s, the middle image is a CP v4.

I’ll just mention this. There is a questionable implementation of “groups”. As you scroll down the screen, as a camera is exposed, that camera starts streaming. You would think that as that camera moves off screen the camera would stop streaming.

It does not.

Going back a year ago as the 3x app was being released. There were terrible issues with multiple individual cameras coming on line at the same time. There was a consensus on this forum that if you put the cameras in a group it would mitigate this issue. At that time the way groups worked was the cam would only stream if it was on screen. It worked great. You could have 20 cams in a group, only what was on screen would stream (1-4 at a time).

Then Wyze fixed it. For whatever reason they removed the on-screen as a trigger for streaming. They left the start streaming alone but changed the stop streaming from an on-screen trigger to a hard 40 second timer.

That means that by the time I get to the last camera all 11 are streaming. That is hard on a wifi network.

I documented this a year ago and it did not get any traction.

Ive pontificated long enough. I’m going to leave it as I said a month ago “There is a gremlin in the v4”.

Sounds like it is a known issue. I only have one v4 so can’t confirm on my end, but hopefully they’re on it.

I only have one V4 so I can’t confirm or deny the above, but the same gremlin has plagued V3 cameras with the latest beta firmware. I have a group of seven cameras, six v3s and one v4 and I see the same behaviour. I have no patience to wait and see if the last two cameras will or when they’ll load. I just switch to a single camera view to view the two at the bottom of the list.

If your game what happens if you take the v4 out of the group?

I don’t have any V3’s🤔

Makes no difference.
