As I’ve mentioned I avoid using USPS and have done so for years now. Maybe they treat you better because you’ve signed up and made an account with them and so they give you better information then the masses. If you read back through the topic posts from others in the forum you’ll see several people that have had the same experience tracking with them as I have. I don’t feel I should have to sign up for something that should be included in the service I’ve already paid for. Now I’m only talking about being able to track a package. You’ve given me another reason to dislike them. It sounds like you get much better information on tracking then I and others do just because we don’t want to sign up with them. I hate double standards and carrot on a stick tactics.
I haven’t signed up for anything. The app is free and all you need is the tracking number.
I understand completely, it should be as simple as tracking a package on the UPS site.
Unfortunately nothing is ever easy with any dept of the US government.
Yea, I wouldn’t consider USPS the most efficient, but I will say I’ve had good luck with their tracking. It shows when it’s picked up, shows if it’s somewhere midway, shows arrival at our main hub, then arrival at local hub, then “out for deliver” with an estimated time of delivery.
I’m sure it’s improved in the intervening years since I’ve dealt with them. It wouldve had too lol. There’s still a lot of people having the same issues though currently. Like you mentioned with UPS it’s a rare occasion when you can’t immediately get the information you need for tracking. Thats why I prefer and promote the use of UPS. Plus other things like missing or misplaced packages. Twice I’ve had packages come up missing(after delivery-left outside my apt)and I was reimbursed with little effort. The one time I had something come up missing with USPS - Omg!! I was made to feel like it was somehow my fault they lost the package somehow I had a hand in its disappearance and there would be some big investigation. They even tried lowballing me with the insurance I’d luckily purchased for the package. I was shipping a 2.25cttw 7 stone diamond ring I’d sold on EBay. That was such a circus that would’ve been comical if I hadnt personally experienced it. Ive just had some bad experiences with USPS thru out the long years.
Note to self: never ship any diamond over .125 ct via USPS… LOL
We had received the Informed Delivery email regarding a package for 2 days and was told by the USPS delivery person that those Amazon enters the information regarding package delivery. He said the box Was only his truck just the day he delivered it.
Sounds strange, but it’s not the first time this has happened.
Still waiting for tracking information from Wyze for the mask I purchased.
If conditions are so bad at FedEx, then don’t work there. But trust me if the Post Office goes under, there will be many more options popping up and companies scramble to enter the market.
Well, as I said before, they go through a lot of drivers. And some routes are much worse than others.
I’ve known people that worked for FedEx and UPS and both said yes they worked hard, but the pay was great. A hard days work isn’t a bad thing. In todays society, especially with the younger adults, people feel entitled to get more pay for less work. And I feel Unions have helped fuel this ideology. There are already State and Federal laws that protect workers, we don’t need corrupt Unions taking workers money and putting companies out of business. Rant off.
Of course UPS works pretty hard but their technology helps them shave a lot of time off of their day. Their tablets tell them exactly what order their stops are to be delivered in, how many boxes per stop, the best possible route to avoid most left hand turns, and their truck is loaded in that exact fashion. And making $25 to $30 or more per hour plus OT plus stock makes just a little difference too.
In regards to Fedex, you are likely not speaking of FedEx Ground or Home delivery. The regular FedEx guys that drive the vans do make good money as well as get paid for the time that they work (different divisions). Very big difference over the Ground and HD division.
Now Ground and HD were at about $11-$13 per hr, straight salary paid at 40 hrs, no insurance, no vacation, no sick time. Typically you worked about 60 hours. For 3 months before Christmas you can work from 7am to about 11pm. Again, for 40 hrs pay. And throughout the year, there were many periods of heavy shipping, for various reasons. So you can understand why nobody stays long. The contractors always have to lie to get newbies to come and work for them. And slowly pile it on, until they break, or go postal.
Our trucks were loaded with very little organization. And we had no manifests, nothing loaded into our scanners, not
stops, box count, nothing. So you had to sort through a full truck each morning to write down manually what stops you had, in which towns, try your best to group them, and then you could leave the terminal. God forbid you unload at Walmart in Paris, then drive to Carlisle, and find another Walmart box in another part of the truck. You were expected to drive back to Paris for that one box.
And unfortunately the trucks that these drivers are sent out in on a daily basis are not maintained properly, and I have seen personally some that were downright dangerous. You couldn’t complain to your boss, the contractor, as it was his truck and he’s the one who keeps it in that condition. And to complain to FedEx will do nothing as well. All they want is for you to get the packages delivered at any cost.
In regards to Unions, they are very beneficial in some cases. I was suspended and on the verge of being fired over an unavoidable incident.
In about 6-8 inches of fresh snow, on a untraveled one lane backroad, I had to back into a drive that I had to guess where the gravel was. I was in a large box truck and I hit the gravel driveway pretty good with the exception of the dual wheels on one side. I couldn’t even tell that I had missed by 2 ft while I was there. I made the delivery and left.
The next day the customer called in a complaint and I was immediately suspended and nearly fired, regardless of the weather conditions. And yes, I’d never had a complaint or a ticket.
So without representation sometimes, this is what happens to people.
And in Ky, with the “right to work”, without a contract or a Union, you can quit or be fired at anytime for any reason. As long as it isn’t due to race, color, creed, religion, etc…
We disagree. But as I said there are already State and Federal laws that protect workers. Unions are out dated, come from a day when laws didn’t protect workers. Unions capitalized on that and were, and are, more corrupt. Either way, if a job doesn’t suit a persons needs, then leave that job and find another.
I respect your opinion as I would anyone else. However with exception of downright unsafe workplace, company negligence in an accident, or say a sexual harassment issue I don’t see much else that protects the average employee.
Seriously? Then you might want to look up the labor laws.
I thought maybe you could just give me a few examples.
Okay we’re way off topic and this banter has gone on long enough. Can a moderator please lock this thread…
Ditto
This thread is not about people’s wages or unions. Please stay on subject. Once you voiced your opinion be civil to each other. Don’t go on and on about a subject. This is where it gets out out of hand. Your shipments are coming… Wyze has explained the problems they are having. Be patient my friends.
No problem, thanks
