Two outdoor plugs won't connect

I just swapped out my router and was going through the process of readding all of my Wyze devices. When it came to one of my Wyze outdoor plugs, I went through the steps of…

  1. Select add (+) device
  2. Select Outdoor Plug from Power & Lighting
  3. Select connect to my wifi network

My phone says searching for device but it never finds it. So, I brought out my other outdoor plug and tried the same thing and…nope. I rebooted my phone and…nope.
All of my cameras and indoor plugs connected just fine so looking for some assistance with these.

Thanks,

Did you put the plug in pairing mode before attempting to add to your network? If not, enable Bluetooth on your phone/tablet, give the Wyze app Location permission, press the left power button on the Plug Outdoor and hold until the status light starts flashing blue, then start setup via the app.

Is the issue potentially related to (or the same as) this topic?

@carverofchoice mentioned getting someone to look into this, though I don’t know what the status of that is, and I was unable to replicate the user’s issue in the other topic.

In addition to what @Seapup mentioned, something else you could try is forcing your phone onto your router’s 2.4 GHz network by temporarily disabling the router’s 5 GHz radio/SSID (I’m assuming it’s dual-band; maybe also disable 6 GHz if you have that). When I had recent difficulty re-adding an original Plug my ultimate solution was to take the Plug to the same room as the router for setup, and I also disabled 5 GHz on the router and both radios on another wireless access point that I’d recently installed, just so I could make only a single band/access point available for my phone and the Plug.

I don’t know if that will help with your Plug Outdoor, but it’s something I’d try and something I’ve had to resort to in the past for other finicky IoT things that don’t want to connect.

Yes, thank you. That did it. It was flashed fast so I thought it was in pairing mode. When I held the left button down, it went solid for a moment and then continued to flash at the same rate but now it was able to connect. I did this to both of my plugs so… :+1:

Thank you for coming back with a status. Great to hear you got them back up and connected! :+1:

Glad it worked for you.
In my case, I setup a separate 2.4 GHz network here at work and connected my phone to it, made sure the 2.4 WiFi was fully operational, I was even ale to connect my cameras at home. Then I tried to ADD the Outdoor plug, and same as before it goes thru ALL of the adding steps, all the sequence of blinking LEDs and as far as the APP is concerned, the Outdoor plug was added w/o any errors… BUT still it won’t appear under the device list…same as before.

You bet. I mean, forums are here to solve issues people have…and not just mine so I figured giving a status helps tell people it might be a solution for them.

I asked again about this because of the issue you and @BobInLutz described in another topic. I’m still waiting on an update but will plan to follow-up in that topic if/when I learn anything new about this.
